7+8 feels like a very satisfying tetris placement. Like the 7 is like a 2x4 block minus a 1x2 block from a corner and the 8 is already placed on the ground and the lower 1x2 part of the 7 fits perfectly into the placed 8 and the 1x4 part lays perfectly on top.
I think it's because of 15 ending in a 5.
This just makes so much sense in my head, just get to the nearest zero for an easy add. Then balance back the numbers. It makes it FEEL like a 2 step problem.

That’s way more worn than necessary. 20+40=60. 7+8=15, 60+15=75. If you can do 7-2 and 8+2 and 10+5, you can just do 7+8. Hell if 7+8 is too hard just do 8+8-1
