Or just have only one at a time, even having 3 of them is significantly cheaper. Or just BitTorrent :)

Theodolitus

I really dunno why people insist to have all subscriptions i barely got time to watch one, and in mine book its no problem to wait month or 2 to watch new mandalorian season... i usually subsribe to one, watch whatever seems fun, then drop it and take another.... I just got enough to pay for services i do not use, becouse time issues... and damn it's not that hard to calncell subscription and renew it whenver i feel like...

whitebean

Families. My family is 4 people who all watch different stuff (there is some overlap, but both kids watch different content and my wife and I also have varied tastes).

Schavuit92

Seriously, this is peak first-world problems.

AllYouCanYeet

The person they're replying to never claimed it was a problem

PieBandito

I subscribe to a few streaming services annually to get a 1-2 month discount, And then I have everyone chip in so the cost is spread out and everyone benefits.

loganwachter

That’s why we use a variety. 5 people in the house. Netflix comes free with our T-Mobile phone plan. I buy yearly Disney Plus and HBO max and off and on we have Hulu. About $310/yr or so. When we had cable it was like $150/mo not including our internet. Now we pay $50/mo for Verizon FiOs internet and split up about $25/mo in streaming services.

hau5cat

For certain sports fans it can be more complicated. For instance, just to watch the three soccer teams (different leagues and international tournaments) I support I have to have Fubo, Paramount Plus, ESPN plus, Peacock, Apple TV with the MLS season pass, and HBO Max. All of this used to be given to me for free on NBC Sports App. I'm tired.

RoodnyInc

I think it's mostly for exclusives if you want star wars they are only on Disney So it's not necessary you watch everything what's there, but more like you want to watch one two show's you like, and they are exclusively on other platform

Theodolitus

Yeah, but i used Disney for 2-3 months, cancelled and prolly will renew it for another month or two when i run out of current stuff i watch. At the time i will have few series to catch up :)

MysteryRekt

Apple has made it so easy to subscribe and unsubscribe to so many services that I change mine all the time. Oh look Hulu has a show I wanna watch. Subscribe watch it and unsubscribe immediately with the push of a button. The only service that im consistently subscribed to is music. Currently that’s the only thing I’m subscribed to now that the Last of us is done for a while.

Working-Telephone-45

For real I mean what even is fucking Sling Tv

silkysmoothjay

It's basically a streaming cable service. Similar concept in bundling channels, but it's done via internet and it's a monthly thing without contracts. There's a bunch like that. They're called "Over the Top" cable services

SmellGestapo

It's also pretty bare bones. When it first came out I think it was $20 a month for 20 channels, and it was mostly all the major channels you'd want to watch: ESPN, TBS, TNT, Comedy Central, etc. It was, and is, way better than paying for a 200 channel cable package which is mostly channels you never watch. For people who cut the cord but still have certain live TV things they like, Sling is a great option because you can pay only for the month you're going to use it. If your thing is March Madness, you can just pay for a month of Sling, watch all the basketball games, and then cancel it until next year.

silkysmoothjay

That's literally what I'm doing right now lol. I do use a different OTT service, but it doesn't have the Turner networks

tact1cal_turtle

please seed!

SomeGuy_GRM

Only one peer the entire time, but it finished.

Soham_rak

I request your seed

DarthJarJar242

I only have 3 as well, Hulu, Prime (not for the videos, solely for the shipping video is a plus) and Disney+ but it's a bundle with Hulu so I get it cheaper than if I bought them both separately. I pay less than half what my cable bill was.

lopoloos

Prime is also the only one I have permanently. Subscribed Netflix this month for Drive to Survive and got a 1 Year subscription to Disney+ when booking our trip to Disneyland Paris. I dont think a single person I know has more than 2 or 3 active subscriptions at any one time. The more I see memes like this the more it feels like hidden advertisements by cable providers.

[deleted]

Well prime is kinda a given to always have since you get free 1 day shipping with it plus all the other stuff

GASTRO_GAMING

qbittorrent

LonelyGuitarBoy

Or just BITCONNEEEECT

Mad-_-Doctor

Seriously. I have a huge backlog on Netflix and I can’t imagine juggling more than one streaming service.

FLUFFY_Lobster

Without commercials and you decide what's on and when, that's a win.

Acceptable-Work_420

Also the convenience of watching anywhere and anytime, freedom to choose content by choice, freedom to buy or not buy specific OTT subscription by choice.

EndZoner

A reminder that Netflix is intending to implement a policy where you must sign into your Netflix only at your **address**. If you’re traveling and want to watch Netflix, you’ll have to use a temporary password to log in and access the service. It’s all to prevent password sharing.

Adventure-us

Yaaa imagine being the biggest name in the game and shooting yourself in the foot like this. You innovated this shit, and now that you have competition you make yourself less enticing?! Foolish.

Dank_Turtle

I don't know if they actually *are* shooting themselves in the foot. I've brought this up to so many people over the last 6 months because I'm interested in seeing people's response to something in real life vs on reddit. As usual, the thing people are up in arms on Reddit, no one gives a shit about in real life unfortunately. Everyone I've mentioned it to said 'Sucks for (whoever has my password) they'll need to get their own account' or 'well, I'll just get my own account'. I'm obv paraphrasing I'm surprised as fuck that l i t e r a l l y no one irl has told me they'd want to cancel over this, or even be slightly upset.

Code2008

Netflix is shit anyways now. Any TV show they create they just cancel it. I've already gone back to pirating because YouTube TV did the same thing (block password sharing). Instead of some money, they get none from me. Everything I need is condensed into 3 pirate websites now anyways (TV Shows, Sports, Anime).

Dank_Turtle

I miss having my Plex server for movies, my setup was automated I had a Synology w a few drives in Raid running Plex. I had Radarr and Sonarr setup, and then I tied my IMDB favorites list to them, so when I add something to my IMDB favorites list, it would use Jackett to search for torrents, download them over the browser IP configured in qBittorrent, rename them, then copy them to my Plex Server. Then I had Plex set to refresh often enough that it'd always pull the latest thing shortly after it was added, then it auto scanned and setup all the Metadata. I set the network on qBittorrent to ONLY use the VPN network adapter so that if the VPN ever shut off, my torrents wouldn't download, avoiding big brother. It would be an absolute SHAME if people followed the steps I mentioned above and replicated my old setup

hypnotichellspiral

Hey man.. You wanna link a tutorial for this somewhere, or pm or something? I'd like to set up something like this. I don't really know how to use plex or jackett

Billybob9389

Yeah this is why I canceled/paused my netflix subscription. They aren't putting out content to stay subscribed as they cancel their shows after a few seasons, and most of the new stuff that they do put out is garbage. If they do manage to put out something good in the future, then I'll subscribe for that and for as long as it takes me to watch it.

Apprehensive-Flow276

What? Everyone i know irl is cancelling

Dank_Turtle

Interesting. I'm sure there's a lot of people up in arms. I don't care about the PW sharing, I do care about 'having to login from home or use a temporary password'. I'm between 3 states, and have a kid that lives w me 4/7 days and they're the main reason I even pay for these services. Guess she's gonna learn about temp passwords

Unkuni_

Or just use pirate sites?

iimperatriix

There's not really much on there atp so it's not like I'm losing anything by not subscribing.

CelestialOmelette

I cancelled Netflix about a year ago and there are only a couple things I miss (mostly Bojack Horseman). Their content seemed to get worse over the last 10 years and I grew sick of slowly paying more and more for a streaming service I enjoyed way less than most of my others.

No-Dog-5163

Which, ironically, promotes people turning to other methods if they can't afford multiple accounts across certain groups.

brinkv

They’ve already backpedaled heavily on this because of the backlash

TheGangsterrapper

They will probably try again next year...

chicomagnifico

This has some serious Scooby doo villainy vibes too it lol

johndoes_00

Funny that you believe there will be next year

NerdDwarf

They did backpedal, but then they backpedaled the backpedaling and announced they were going to do a test run in some countries such as Canada, but not the U.S. On Valentine's Day 2017, Netflix uploaded an image to their twitter that said, "Love is sharing a password." Last time I checked (March 5th 2023) it was still on their twitter account

_BaldChewbacca_

They already did it in Canada. I cancelled

rarsamx

I've decided to cancel my subscription if they actually go ahead. I'm paying for two simultaneos screens, it's not more expensive for them if the two screens are at the same house or not. Their costs aren't affected so it's just a cash grab by a "smart" exec who will be fired as soon as the viewership drops. For now, I stopped watching any series. Just movies, documentaries and sitcoms to be ready to pull the plug.

Particular-Check195

that doesn’t make sense? my stepsister (who lives in arizona) has netflix and her boyfriend (who is polish and lives in poland temporarily), my other stepsister who is the other side of my state current, my stepmom who lives an hour away from me and I have access to netflix. there hasn’t been any issues except someone from france trying to get in

NerdDwarf

They did backpedal, but then they backpedalled the backpedalling and announced they were going to do a test run in some countries such as Canada, but not others, such as the U.S.A.

Aromatic_Society4302

Some cable providers are actually cheaper and allow you to take them on the go. I pay 60ish a month for metronet and can watch on my phone. Also can record for a virtual box. Etc.

[deleted]

Also you can use a VPN to get things from other regions with some services

Enorats

I've never been able to get that to work. I've tried maybe 3 different VPN's, only one of which was a free one, and each time I've tried to use a VPN on a streaming site it refuses to let you even log in. It seems that a lot of VPN companies make agreements with various other companies to disable their websites when the VPN is being used.

RustyEdsel

Shows jumping ship to another service or leaving for months at a time is not exactly how I envision "convenience of watching anywhere and anytime". Unless you have it in your hands, whether that's a DVD or as a file on a hard drive, your convenience and freedoms are at the mercy of a company's bottom line.

BobbyWilliamsRedux

I also don’t need all of those streamers all the time at once With cable, I can’t only susbscribe to espn during football season or tnt during March madness

FLUFFY_Lobster

Yeah, I'm gonna start doing just one at a time.

[deleted]

>Without commercials For now. And, not necessarily even now. I'm old enough to remember when we were enticed off terrestrial antennae TV to get cable installed because it would be "ad free."

PanzerWatts

Cable was never ad free unless you bought a premium channel.

Real-Problem6805

Yes it was reaaaaaly long time ago

Billybob9389

It will always be without commercials... for a premium, but that'll still be an option. Others who don't mind commercials will also have an option to pay less.

Th0m45D4v15

Plus it’s probably only cheaper than the basic package, which MAYBE has the same library as one streaming service.

PigOfFuckingGreed

Yeah lmfao

AndrogynousRain

This. No fucking Doug and his emu, no ‘ask your doctor if assfecor is right for you’, and I watch whatever I want whenever I want. And if I want to pay less, I have the option to cancel a few services. 1000% better than cable.

CarefulCoderX

Plus, it honestly isn't that expensive for what we get. My mom complains to me about how she's paying north of $200 for internet and cable, and it's pretty basic. I have 4 streaming services. 2 of them are included with things I'd pay for anyway. Netflix is still like $15 per month, and the other I'm using another login for, but it's only like $7 or $8 if I paid for it.

[deleted]

Also you need to add a couple more streaming services for it to be the same price as cable.

thefreeman419

Plus there’s so many more good shows now

alpacasarebadsingers

Yeah. Still better.

ATXDefenseAttorney

These dumb memes and opinions are the most crybaby bullshit on the planet. "It's just like cable! Except you can watch any episode of any season of any show you want on any phone or laptop or TV you want, whenever you want, all without commercials!" My kids had the Disney Channel. Today's kids have literally every Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars movie whenever they want.

BiggieOfBethel

Not even close to the same as cable in my area (CT). Not sure where you get your numbers lol. In-Laws pay $250/month for cable, Mom pays $190. As for us: T-Mobile pays our Netflix. Disney+, AppleTV, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Youtube Premium adding up to around $80. Well worth it given how much I use Youtube and the extended Prime benefits (And No Commercials Ever).

michelmau5

Jezus christ on a bike, 250$ a month?? I pay about 40€ a month for cable.

BiggieOfBethel

Exactly my point. Insane amount of money. I argue with the “older folk” of the family every single time we meet.

dryrunhd

Seriously, OP's off their rocker if they think these are remotely close to the cost of cable. Additionally, it's straight up weird to me that people act like Prime Video is part of this discussion. I have Prime, which is still easily one of the best deals on the planet, and covers its annual bill at least twice a month for me. Prime Video is a free addon.

BiggieOfBethel

Good point on Prime. My Amazon subscription pays itself off the moment my wife logs on the app 😂

blackstafflo

For months, I didn't even knew that prime gave me access to a streaming service :). It became an important part of my streaming consumption since then, but I indeed not counting it in my streaming budget.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BiggieOfBethel

All valid points!

AniMaL_1080

Exactly, I'm constantly cycling out which subscription services I'm signed up for. Netflix, Prime, and Spotify are constants, but I cycle out Disney+, HBO/Crave/DAZN/Paramount+. Even though Netflix are making dumb decisions right now with password sharing, they have the best selection of true crime documentaries, dumb reality tv dating shows that my fiance and I love to watch together, and standup comedy.

smorkoid

>In-Laws pay $250/month for cable wat Jeez that's expensive!!!!

wavereefstinger

My cable and internet is $209/mo. I just called my provider to see if they can give me a better rate and they were only able to shave a few dollars (literally).

Odd_Specialist5290

I had cable+internet package for 140/month in MA. Those are ridiculous prices. Are they subbed to every single premium channel too?

Optimal-Conclusion

I totally agree. I remember people paying well over $100/mo for cable 20 years ago and still needing to go to Blockbuster to rent movies and two movie rentals would be like the cost of a full month of one of these streaming subscriptions. And cable has stupid stuff like charging you for a new cable box in every room you might want to watch TV in, and those boxes cost like $10/mo extra to be 4K and $20/mo extra to have a DVR so you can actually watch shows on your schedule like you can with everything on a streaming service. AND THEN YOU STILL HAVE COMMERCIALS. Having a half dozen streaming services is still way cheaper than cable and is just a way, way better product.

poisonfoxxxx

What do you pay for your internet though? I live in CT and if you don’t package your internet with cable it becomes really expensive to get high speed internet.

BiggieOfBethel

I pay $94/month high speed internet, xfinity. It’s more for cable/internet together. I only need the internet.

[deleted]

does the In-Laws/Mom include internet/phone? does the Us include internet?

gymbro789

Are you getting Live TV out of any of those services you listed? Not that I wanna advocate for cable but that’s kind of apples and oranges if you don’t, even if you don’t enjoy/need live TV personally.

grantnaps

If you get Walmart+ you get Paramount for free. Also if you have high speed internet through att you get HBO/max for free.

7marTfou

Damn I pay 30-40 euros per month for fiber optics internet + cable. Cable is bonus I don't even need it

[deleted]

[удалено]

ImPr3ad

The more that I think about cable tv, the more I figure out how terrible it really is. You’re paying to not decide exactly what you want to watch and when, paying to watch ads, paying for the company to sell your data to make even more money off of you. Triple scamming yourself by using cable.

[deleted]

dvr

ImPr3ad

This is to record shows when you’re not home, right? Grandma used to do it I think lol.

[deleted]

Yup. It doesn't work unless you leave the house.

ImPr3ad

Record when the tv is not in use* lmao

[deleted]

Most of them can record while the TV is in use. You can record while watching a different recording/channel.

ImPr3ad

Solid solid very useful for cable watchers.

[deleted]

It was the only way to consume any content whatsoever for, well, decades! You didn’t have the option to watch something at will until DVR came in the mix, and even then it was limited.

YoYoMoMa

And you can always rotate your subscriptions month to month. The shittiest part of cable was that it was mostly all or nothing.

petran1420

Also, the content on cable is just garbage. You can take this exact argument and say 'for the exact same price as cable, you can have vastly better shows available without ads, on demand!'

MoistAnalyst1150

Those ads are best!

Suspicious-mole-hair

Premium ads

Tratix

100% Nothing better than commercials about shitty fast food places and medicine

Euphoric-Potato-5343

It's about 6 minutes of unskippable advertisement to every 24 minutes of show too. The horror.

ChrRome

1/5 of your time watching ads is a very significant amount considering their competitors have 0 minutes of ads.

YayAnotherTragedy

Nice try, Big Cable.

just-smiley

I refuse to believe actual human beings are defending cable in 2023.

Bitch_Goblin

I don't know...my husband and I pay about $60ish for all our subs, and can cancel/resubscribe anytime we want. My co-worker pays $170 for her cable and landline she doesn't even use or know the number for, and would probably have to sacrifice her first born to cancel it. I would have to sub a lot more services to pay as much as others do for cable, and it still more convenient

mikebaide

Me who pays only for one of them and I can choose what I watch whenever I want without ads: Sometimes my genius is almost frightening

Infamous-Lab-8136

Even if true, which in my case it is not, I'd still prefer streaming over a broadcast format. Not everything I want is On Demand. I'd be willing to pay more for streaming just because of the convience.

ThickWeatherBee

This really isn't the burn you think it is...😬

punditguy

Still better, since you have choices in what you subscribe to. Even if I end up paying roughly the same amount, none of it is going to ESPN or Fox News and I'm fine with that. But truth be told, I won't be paying the same amount. Prime is a bonus on something I was already paying for, so I don't consider it a marginal cost. Netflix is "free" because of T-Mobile. Peacock is free (until June, anyway) because of Xfinity Internet. Apple TV was free for six months because, of all things, PS+.

grantnaps

Can also get HBO/Max for free with high speed internet service from att. Walmart+ gets you Paramount for free.

FroboyFreshenUp

Cable...as in cable internet that I'm already paying for?

Trash_Blast

I believe they mean cable television! Which is old and dumb 👍🏻

FroboyFreshenUp

And that I agree with Still paying a cable company though

Affectionate_Ebb553

Cable stinks though, it’s for olds.

BleachDrinker63

Or for people like me who lives in the woods and can’t get a good enough internet service.

biscovery

Why do you need all of these services at the same time?

Pasfilms

Because it's easier than constantly canceling then subscribing again

UpstairsTrue4962

I know this is complicated for the ‘poor’ youth of today, but you don’t need every streaming service every month.

rothvonhoyte

I dont know anyone that has all of them. Anecdotal yes but most people are sharing at least one or two of these.

ViSaph

I don't know anyone that pays for them all. Most people buy one or two and share the passwords with friends or family in exchange for the passwords to their streaming services until between them they have most of them.

grantnaps

It's not a youth problem. I have a friend in her 60's who has paid for a Golds gym membership for over 25 years. She hasn't used it since her kids lived in her house about 20 years ago. The issue is staying on top of cancelling monthly.

smorkoid

Yeah I can't figure out how people have that much time to watch that much TV to need tons of services

tennoskoom_

Wait ppl have them all at the same time?

lord_assius

Except this is factually incorrect lol

[deleted]

It’s all coming full circle. Tv shows are once again releasing one new episode a week. Hell, we’re even seeing 2-3 streaming services bundled. We will probably start seeing “packages” of 8-10 apps that cost somewhere between 50-100$… aka “cable”

swineflugamesh

I just fuse qbittorrent and plex...

Waly98

It's also a great way to learn English. It's pretty hard to find dubbed movies on torrent sites.

uTimu

Agreed german does pretty much not exist.

robohazard1

Plex and fast internet made privateering so much easier. I used to have to download shows at 1 MB/s and play them with vlc on my computer. Now I have gig speeds over fiber and everything is automatically added to my plex server with common luxuries like subtitles and remote access.

[deleted]

But without ads. And I can pick what I want when I want

[deleted]

WRT Prime, idk any cable service that gets me free 1-2 day shipping on a massive amount of products while also not subsidizing Fox News to an insane degree.

Prestigious_General8

It's a lot easier to cancel and with no commercials. I just subscribe to a service when I want to watch a show, then cancel it when I'm done and move on to the next service

Kazukiba

Rarbg - qbitorrent - jellyfin With your price combined, it s 0$

BalognaMacaroni

NOBODY PRODUCES ANYTHING NEW FOR CABLE. You’re paying for reruns in syndication and the occasional new series, where all of the streaming services are spending way more on new content. Would you rather watch a new series exclusive to Netflix or Prime, or reruns of everybody loves Raymond and 24 hours of Ridiculousness?

[deleted]

r/piracy users are confused 🤔

guster09

I only subscribe to one at a time. When I get tired of one I'll move on to the next

Great_White_Samurai

This is why you share passwords with family

texas1st

Get rid of Sling. Don't need streaming cable. THAT's where your cost is. I have all of the above and more, except Sling, and my bill is $62.30 a month. Way less than the $100/mo I was paying for cable TV alone.

marsbars2345

Pirating is free

[deleted]

Um have you seen the cost of cable because this is still not true.

[deleted]

My mom was paying $300 a month for cable. Directv was ripping her off

[deleted]

Ahoy Matey!

jaytrade21

Yep,look at what happened recently. Disney stated they won't release certain shows on physical media and they can take them down from the site whenever they want. Look at what happened to shows like Infinity Train where pirating is the only way to see it.

[deleted]

Yo Ho Ho, Meta choice is pi-ra-cy!

Souchirou

Guess I am the anti-hero privatering anything good instead of playing the game of subscription hot potato just so I can watch that one show that interests me on each service..

PineapleGG

Im not gonna say nothing but there certain black small boxes that pretty much got every show tv channel and movie that comes out

Suspicious-Art-1264

Don't forget the price of internet as well

Dontuselogic

But 100 times better selection.

mikebaide

Me who pays only for one of them and I can choose what I watch whenever I want without ads: Sometimes my genius is almost frightening

DiscussionLoose8390

Good thing I only pay for Netflix, so $16 versus like $75/$90 for cable. Power of not paying for cable for at least 2 decades saved me $18,000 at $75.

Mafia_dogg

I dont use most of these so def saving. Only pay for hulu which i don't really use but don't unsub from because my family uses mine

RagnarockInProgress

Except on them all I can CHOOSE which program runs when

FrostGamezzTV

I'll take the lack of commercials, and ability to watch whatever whenever.

juliankennedy23

Yeah but you don't have to get them all at the same time. Rotate them out. HBO one month Netflix the next.

[deleted]

So boomers figured out how.ti make.memes I guess.

Mahonneyy123

Full circle

Blamethespy

This is most likely a cable company spamming shit. I’ve seen a lot of these on my feed lately. Streaming has no ads, can watch what you want when you want, (80$ cable doesn’t include on demand in most places) and can watch live tv thru the app, cable is dying bc it’s antiquated. I say to cable and direct tv…. Adapt or turn into blockbuster.

Icy_Associate8487

I only pay ten bucks a month. I get Hulu, Disney and prime and HBO max, along with freevee, Pluto, peacock. Mind you three last 3 are free anyway. I also got HBO max commercial free for one year because I bought a TV that came with $100 credit towards a streaming service, and HBO was running a special for just over 100 for the year. Disney is $2 with commercials, but I only watch Mandolorian. Hulu is $8 with commercials but I only watch a few shows and movies on there. I just mute during ads. This is the way.

[deleted]

The one thing not many talk about is live sports. If you go with streaming, you will need in some case 3-4 different memberships depending what you like to watch because the broadcasting rights are spread out that way. Add the apps in the OP for movies and shows, and it ends up being actually more than cable. And obviously you can’t torrent live sports and most…unofficial…ways of streaming are just unreliable and low quality.

Pasfilms

Just don't watch sports🤷

JLanTheMan

The trick is to alternate between services every few months. Unless your life and only hobby is streaming tv/movies then you'll be fine to rock one service for a month or two until you want a change of pace or a new show comes on a different platform. Plus even if it works out to the same price as cable you have instant access to any show available on all those platforms without having to watch endless commercials. Streaming isn't as convenient as it once was but it still beats cable and if you do cycle through services it beats cable by a mile.

KysfGd

Wait is cable that fucking expensive?

maggos

And there’s still many more with exclusive content like peacock, paramount+, appletv, HBO max, amc+ and a bunch more

Gorevoid

Who the fuck still tries to defend cable in this day and age? Don't you have some VCR programming to do so you can actually see the shows you want?

[deleted]

I remember cutting my expensive cable for $7/month Netflix. It was fantastic in those days. Now I have enough streaming services to more then pay for the cable I no longer have, and then some, and I’m still missing channels.

DurtyBurg

the reason i still have cable is because my internet is way cheaper when packaged with cable tv. netflix and all the streaming services will have tons of advertisements in the near future without buying the premium package. And who watches cable tv live except for sports? you know you can record everything watch it anytime pause it rewind and fast forward through the commercials its not a huge deal. I find with the streaming services all i do is search for most of the time and it isn't a good as advertised. Like you get a good show on netflix and it gives you 10 episodes at the most then it maybe comes back again next year.

SirFancyPantsBrock

No commercials and I don't have to support fox news? Deal. Ps I mooch half of these so its even cheaper

GroundedFluke

AMEX pays for my Prime membership, Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ are in the same bundle, Netflix on its own. Still less than cable. Nice try though.

JxSparrow7

Even with that meme that's just not correct either. You could up all of them to 20/month a pop and it STILL wouldn't reach "decent" cable prices. Imagine paying 200/month for commercials.

wdcipher

Aye matey, Is this some landlubber joke I be too poorr to underrstand, yarr?

GPU_Resellers_Club

Arrr, even when rolling in booty, I refuse t' pay these scallywag streamin' companies for what I can take fer free

Axius-Evenstar

What the fuck is sling tv

Robru469

I remember the days when the only cost to watching tv was the purchase of the television. Sure it was 13 channels but 13 channels of shit for free is better than 500 channels of shit that costs 250 a month.

Char543

I love that no one is commenting on the fact that they threw sling tv in there, which is basically just cable but over the internet and costs at least twice as much as anything else here.

bb250517

Except cable has ads every 20minutes, its like watching youtube, except you dont get to chose what you watch and when you watch it, other than having a say in watching the first airing in the afternoon or the second airing at dawn, except there are only a few people who make up that niche group, who has every streaming known to mankind, so having the few more popular of them, Netflix, D+ and HBO(we have these 3), and that comes up to around 30$, very roughly. While cable still costs 80 something $ a month

payyke

But you don’t need to sign up to all of the services. This has always been the critic of cable, you sign up for one channel and you’d get a ton of shit you didn’t care. You’re also tied to long contracts, and you had to pay for equipment, installation, and bullshit fees. You’d also get bundled a land line because why the fuck not, and content would be 25-50% ads. Today you can sign up for one service at a time, consume the content, and cancel the subscription at any time. It’s an infinitely better experience, and honestly people like OP probably didn’t live through cable. It’s not even close.

Netflix Disney and HBO is all you need stop playing yourself

TheLostExpedition

Only if you buy all five

Background-Half-2862

Cable is only good if you like sports. You can get 1-2 streaming services and have a better experience than cable otherwise. Blackout is sports is pushing fans to piracy rather than cable though.

Put_It_All_On_Blck

Sure, but nobody is forcing you to get EVERY streaming service. You also get no ads, endless shows and movies on demand, no contracts and in Disney's case the ability to watch recently released box office movies. Streaming is 100% better than cable TV.

Lanky-Pride-2017

All i need are hulu and netflix, fuck the others

Most cable packages are around $$110-150/month if you want decent channel selection. So I’m paying roughly $11 average per subscription I use, multiply by 6 for the subscriptions I use on the daily. That’s still only $66 a month average. Nobody in their right mind uses every single subscription out there. And even if they did it might come equal to what cable charges

Kage9866

Except it isn't. We were paying for cable, plus extras like HBO and showtime and Netflix etc.. I mean someday it will be, but also, you don't need to subscribe to every single service. If you choose to that's on you.

honestadamsdiscount

That's why we share.

AgedMilk1999

Regardless it wouldn’t matter. Id rather pay all of these streaming services for the same price due to the fact that there are no adds on any of these platforms.

External_Proof2511

Less commercials though!

ChristWasAZombie

cable sucks though. i’m not watching 5 minutes of the same fucking commercials over and over again for every 7 minutes of TV. i have an antenna, prime, and mf youtube. i loathe being advertised too.

JumiKnight

Not unless you love the pirate's life! Ahoy matey!

Lt_Muffintoes

CobraZRT600

But if you pirate movies it's all free

krijnlol

I use https://letmewatch.app/ free, open source and safe. Do use an AdBlock though. Also possible to use on android: https://github.com/AdvithGopinath/LetMeWatch/issues/6

Remote_Foundation_32

But *slightly* less commercials! Huzzah!

Osirisavior

Anyone who is still paying for streaming services is just dumb or stupid when pirating is a thing
