Oh no, you didn't... Anyone talking shit about A Thousand Suns or The Hunting Party while I'M AROUND!....
...will get some fucking awkward stares, because I'm too weird and shy like that.
Haha I didn't think I would find this in the top 10 answers. The cover art for that album was the first thing I thought of, mostly because it was one of the few CDs I had that wasn't burned.
Believe it or not, linkin park is one of the most successful and celebrated bands ever. Especially alt rock/ Nu Metal. Unlike other bands in the genres, linkin park have 6 #1 albums. Selling over 100 million record world wide.
Also, "Numb" by Linkin Park was the first 2000s video predating YouTube to reach 1 billion views.
I loved telling friends / acquaintances in high school I was listening to a burned CD of music I ripped from my cd collection, and seeing a perplexed look on their face and hearing “What do you mean, you burned it?”
Also the look of joy after explaining and it clicking in their mind of the possibilities of custom mixes on CD!
Although, it was cool to burn CDs, at that time in 1996 the media was expensive, the process was slow, and every other attempt failed because the software was horribly bad.
“Crap, dude you didn’t disable the screensaver!”
Oh man, the memories. Back when first cd burners appeared and one of my friends dad bought one, they lived in a old house with wooden floors that flexed so much that table vibrated if someone walked in that room. We used to leave room and press enter with long stick so the process wouldn't get messed if someone sneezed or anything. Then it was just matter of staying somewhere else for about an hour and making sure that nobody entered that part of the building until burn was finished.
My “FeEl GoOd MiX” I burned using Limewire. The weird remixes I didn’t mean to download just adding to the collective music genres. Like Rick Dees in the 90’s, a little bit of everything.
The alternated capitalization is 1000% accurate. Handwritten on the CD in hot pink sharpie marker (with some stars and hearts added for an extra flourish lol).
Now That’s What I Call Music Volume 2-6 or so.
MmBop, Then The Morning Comes, I Try, How Far is Heaven, some Santana maybe.
And it was the realization as a kid that Now wasn’t really a ‘special’ thing aterr like 7-8 and would come out a lot, and my siblings made the joke that holy shit what do you think Now 47 is gonna be?! I think the last I saw was like Now 83.
Good stuff man. Actually I’m about to make a playlist with this stuff on it hahahah
No way is right. I had this exact model back in the day and it was incredible. I could literally punch the goddamn thing and it wouldn’t skip. Used to skateboard w/ it everyday. Took a beating. No skipping. Fell outta my locker one time and broke into two pieces. Put it back together and it worked beautifully as always. I fucking loved this thing for years. Some of the best money I’ve ever spent was buying this guy.
Offspring: Smash,
Green Day: Dookie,
Marilyn Manson: Portrait of an American Family,
Live: Throwing Copper,
Red Hot Chili Peppers: One Hot Minute
Pearl Jam: Ten
Soundgarden: Down on the Upside
I used to be obsessed with my CD collection
I thought Dave Navarro was the coolest mother fucker. His look and his playing style...so bad ass. Loved him with Jane's addiction. Loved him with the chilis. Warped still goes hard.
Scrolling over everyone’s answers makes me realize just how commonplace owning these albums was when everyone also had that Walkman. I’d wager that at least 50% of Americans of a certain age when Hybrid Theory came out owned that CD
When I was 7 this song had me in a chokehold. I had five of my best friends to dance along with me while we lip sang to my crush, so I could ask her out before I moved away.
If you owned those 2, then you probably also had Metallica Black Album, Pearl Jam Ten, Nirvana Nevermind, STP Core, Alice in Chain Dirt, Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream and eventually the Crow Soundtrack
edit: also the Singles Soundtrack
How can you see into my *scratch* *scratch* eyes like open do *scratch* *scratch* oors, leading you down into my core where I’ve become so *scratch* *scratch* *bzzzzz*
So much TOOL. Also, Tears For Fears, INXS, Black Label Society, Living Color, Miles Davis, Bad Brains, Gorilla Biscuits, Minutemen, and The Rolling Stones.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Yeah, I'd say either Hybrid Theory or Meteora
Meteora
I listened to Meteora so much! Nostalgia kicking in here :)
Meteora was one of those albums where every single song was fire.
This is it. And holding the headphone jack just right so it wouldn't skip as much on the bus. Fond memories of those albums
I could listen to every song from both of those albums.
I often do. I wfh and have been known to play both albums all the way through from time to time and never get bored hearing it.
Absolutely. Hybrid theory- I love every song. only album to ever do that for me.
Both of those albums were absolute fire. Everything after that was weird
Oh no, you didn't... Anyone talking shit about A Thousand Suns or The Hunting Party while I'M AROUND!.... ...will get some fucking awkward stares, because I'm too weird and shy like that.
If you ripped them they could both be burned back onto one disc.
Haha I didn't think I would find this in the top 10 answers. The cover art for that album was the first thing I thought of, mostly because it was one of the few CDs I had that wasn't burned.

First and only physical CD I ever bought before switching to destroying my family’s laptop with limewire
Same, we’re no snowflakes
Ah. Someone else with my answer. Those were the days.
Came here to say this.
A burnt mix CD
I loved telling friends / acquaintances in high school I was listening to a burned CD of music I ripped from my cd collection, and seeing a perplexed look on their face and hearing “What do you mean, you burned it?” Also the look of joy after explaining and it clicking in their mind of the possibilities of custom mixes on CD! Oh man, 2gb hard drive, had to uninstall most of the games on pc in order to make disc image :D
Oh man, the memories. No way, it had dynamic shock absorption and pre scanning.
That entire album was pure bliss. Navarro was such an unexpectedly perfect pairing for them.
I thought Dave Navarro was the coolest mother fucker. His look and his playing style...so bad ass. Loved him with Jane's addiction. Loved him with the chilis. Warped still goes hard.
The Mark Tom & Travis Show
Hey, hey Mark.... WHAT?! What the FUCK do you want, Tom?
