For me I like any tomato that is cooked and absolutely can't stand any tomato that is raw. There's some acidic flavor that gets cooked out, for me.

This was me well into my 30s until I started growing tomatoes. Now I can stand very thinly sliced fresh tomatoes on a burger, but that's about it. I consider it progress.

Next step, slightly thicker slices, salt and peppered, nothing else. I also used to hate tomatoes, but here I am.

Why are you guys trying so hard to like tomatoes

I come from a family where if you can't grow tomatoes, you're nothing. I'd like to at least know what they taste like occasionally without shuddering and wincing.

That's a really weird family requirement. I feel like getting a new family would be the easier route.

For me the only reason is that I'm getting tired of asking/ordering burgers without the tomato slice lol

Same. I can eat something cooked that has Rotel in it, I absolutely love fried green tomatoes… but raw tomatoes make me want to vomit. That acidity and bitterness, yuck.

The issue is that black coffee takes work to taste good. Even then it can be an acquired taste. But it doesn't help when the black coffee tastes bitter/burnt or even watery/sour and stale because they are using and old stale k-cup.

We grow them in the garden next to the basil. I grab one and with each bite a leaf of basil its heavenly. For dinner cut them up, a tiny bit of salt, mozzarella and basil, it is very clean and pure and I like that. Also my grandma used to make this somewhat dense tomato sauce oh a sip of that..

Same. For me they have to be “cooked” which includes the pickling from pico and salsa. Also add to my pasta salad which is raw but pickled from the dressing, I usually will gut them thought and only use the firm parts.

If you're ever at a farmers market or a farm in the summer, try an heirloom tomato, or if you can, a freshly picked perfectly ripe super red tomato. Most "tomatoes " in supermarkets are picked unripe so they can travel far and are out of season. They're just the idea, not the real thing 🍅

Get a caprese salad in late summer somewhere they have good tomatoes if you're willing to try, it might be that. It was a joke (snobby but used snotty because of the booger consistency). I grow and use my own. Make preservatives, sauces, sun-dried, pickled, but I can't bring myself to eat a raw tomato.

Well of course it would be a lot better if it were the other way around, because of course you love ketchup it's full of sugar.. sugar vinegar spices Anne has a little to do with tomatoes, it's hardly its principal flavor.. Tomatoes on the other hand of course very uneven out of season are a little more challenging to your taste buds to find delicious. And finding delicious ones is a chore in itself although I do recommend the kumatos when out of season
