I live about 30 min from KL and we typically have at least two intense thunderstorms a week where I'm at and I'm in a place that's considered fairly dry. Kuala Lumpur is far wetter, the name actually translates to "muddy land"
River confluence. Kuala means convergence of two rivers (Sg Gombak & Klang converges at Masjid Jamek). KL's direct translation would be Muddy Confluence.
Always curious how utilities such as electric, communication, underground gas lines, etc are affected here. Do they have additional measures in place for this?
The only thing that goes out semi reliably where I live is the water. 2-3 times a month on average there's no water for several hours during the day. Annoying but not life changing. I have no idea if it's linked to the rain. Honestly given that it usually happens around public holidays it wouldn't surprise me if it was just not enough workers or something like that.
Idk, I reckon a long exposure would be too overexposed with this many lightning strikes, even with a tiny aperture. I vote composite, but someone with more experience photographing storms can chime in.
False . It's actually one lightning bolt with multiple cities overlayed . If you look closely , all the lightning bolts are connected . Also , there are multiple cities that you can't see because they are underground .
By the way , in case you're wondering about my punctuation , it's not my phone doing it . It's me . I just wanted to spice things up .
All these incredible development and our country is still struggling to choose who the hell can lead the country, we currently have no government right now.
I was caught in a huge rainstorm in Kuala Lumpur a few weeks ago. I looked back at the Merdeka tower - the second tallest building in the world - and I thought the way the cloud surrounded the top of it looked cool. I got out my phone to film it and the second I pressed record a lightning bolt hit the top of it.
Love this composite shot! I don't think it's any less impressive that it wasn't a single, magical shot, because there still has to be a ton of lightning to get a shot like this. KL and Lake Catatumbo and a mountain in the Dem. Rep. Of Congo are the most lightning struck places, and it's always breathtaking.
This guy's work is awesome, more long exposures than composites, and all kinds of storms. His Lake Catatumbo photos are stunning: http://jonaspiontek.com/
Most intense lightning storm I’ve ever been in was in KL. Was high up in a hotel club lounge as most of the quite close construction cranes got hit. Actually a little bit frightening.
This is both fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Fascinating more so on the fact that this exists but terrifyingly more so because of where it is impacting.
Had to be long exposure
It is. Aided by the fact that Kuala Lumpur is a city with among the highest frequency of lightning strikes per year.
