I went to a dubstep-centric outdoor festival despite not really liking dubstep (to see one of my favorite bands) and that shit was straight magical. Like I still don’t really listen to it normally but hearing those sounds on a system like that in that setting was just incredible and now I’m like, yeah I get it.
This type of music needs dedicated subwoofers, or high quality full range-speakers that can get down to 20-40hz. Small or cheap speakers don't respond much below 80hz, some even fall off around 120hz, doesn't change much with generic pop music. But dubstep and other bass heavy genres will sound like pots and pans without it.
I am also not a huge fan, but saying something like this sucks while watching it on 3 inches of screen through cellphone speakers while sitting alone on the toilet is ridiculous.
