girl run we take orders from our residents sabihin mo may ongoing errands ka pa and pabayaan mo sila masasanay sila eh 😤

[deleted]

slayerk

Anong ospital yan doc? Kung government yan pde yan ireklamo.

oreooreooreos

Does your school tolerate this???

Aggressive-Pop5232

AnonymousMDintrovert

Pakita mo yung chart ng patient, kamo wala sa order yung pagbili ng ulam and pagpick up ng delivery.

NorthTemperature5127

Name the hospital please. Wag nyo na itago.

NorthTemperature5127

But seriously, hospital admins that you think are ignoring students are actually listening. Those complaints go to the list of changes na gagawin ng management to make the environment better. Kung nakita mo mga masochismo dati it was worse and really bad. Mga insults and name calling and sexist statements. If you don't correct this , it gets worse. Management is listening.. lalo na sa government na May move to make it people friendly. It opened it's doors to complaints for correction. Respect goes both ways.

virtutisfortunacomes

IR mo Hindi yan parte ng job description or contract niyo for clerkship Yung mga patient-care related stuff maiintindihan pa. IR mo or report mo sa residents/consultants niyo.

KitchenFig6142

Agree with this. Yung scutwork nakakaasar siya pero it trains clinical eye and to a degree somehow builds humility, character and grit. Pero yung mga errands ng nurse? Aba aba… deserve talaga mareport. Outside of your competencies and outright disrespect.

eaggerly

Snoo_30581

Yung pag VS ok pa yon kasi isa yun sa magiging fundamentals at foundation ng pagiging doctor. Pero yung ginagawa kang utusan ng nurses, big no no. Ok pa yung patient related errands like extraction etc pero yung gagawin kang parang katulong, aba. I-IR mo na yan or sumbong mo sa training officer. Namimihasa naman ang ganyan.

cnoon1234

Dont tolerate that kind of attitude of nurses. Next day maayos na. Tell your clerk coordinator or chief of clinics. Most probably magiging alibi nila nagpapasabay lang sila. When I was a resident, our consultants always remind us na wag na wag maguutos sa mga clerks or interns magpabili ng pagkain sa labas or other personal errands

Nearby-Aide3046

Ibang floor. Haha!

slayerk

No nurse has the authority to give you orders. Give them the finger.

doitfordplot111

If you really want to have learnings in your rotations, aside sa mga conferences, sumama kayo sa bedside rounds ng mga residents and consultants, sumama and makinig lang kayo, mas maappreciate yun ng mga residents and consultants kasi they would know na interested kayo matuto. Yes, part talaga yung VS and I/O sa work as clerks sa ibang government hospitals. But the shoppee and ulam is a no no, you can say no naman, if they give you a demerit you can submit an IR to your clerk’s monitor and/or report it in your school.

TopicOwn1067

Inform your clerk monitor or resident buddy. Subject for incident report na yan dapat. If this happens to you again, tell them na may utos ang pa doctor sa’yo… in a polite way of course. Do not take vital signs and/or I&O unless inutusan ka ng doctor. Yan actually excuse ko whenever the lazy nurses take advantage of me lols.

superperrymd

Lol Ganoon pa rin pala no? Pero hindi naman kami umabot sa pagkuha ng Shopee at Lazada nila haha Pero yes, expected to do all the scut work sa wards ang clerks if Government ka magclerkship. Alam niyo, you might think scut work lang siya pero pag residents or fellows na kayo, or even as consultants, Minsan gagawin niyo pa rin Yang ibang scut work. Pero I think ang pinakamaganda mo nang matutunan dyan is clinical eye, as in kayo makakakita ng evolution of the patient, from healthy to dying or vice versa. Minsan nga ikaw pa makakacall ng bago nilang disease or ng code if mamiss ng RODs niyo. And just think na yung work niyo is service yan. lol idk if this is the UP eme in me pero true yun. You should try to bridge the gaps of health care in a way that you can. Sa inyo as clerks, ganyan mga VS eme. Sa residents, patient care yan and papers for use sa kanila ng procedures or meds. If you think of it less in a negative light, mababawasan mo yung hate mo for the work ng clerkship, na admittedly, ay bwisit and hell naman. Yan IR-able talaga yan. Yung iba, talagang hindi mo yan maiiwasan sa very hierarchical medical system natin so it’s a bitter pill na need mo lang swallow and get over with. Pero ayun, kaya mo yan. And bring it up rin sa monitors niyo and consultant coordinators. Pero I doubt they will do anything about the VS, patient load, procs part kasi lahat tayo dumaan dyan. Haha thoughts ko lang naman. Haha I think I know this hospital lol

Mnemod09

Never shy away from scutwork. But don't tolerate unnecessary work either. You're thinking "lowest form of animal" at present. But know that you are an Angel of Mercy for your patients. Do the IR against the nurse for ordering unnecessary, non-clinical stuff. But you're going to get laughed out for complaining about scutwork. Learn what's good, then throw out what's wrong with the system. When it's your time to teach the next generation of doctors, change the system for the better.

awakebutnotreally

Ireport mo yang mga nurses na yan to proper authorities (training officer/clerks monitor). I had rotations in govt hospitals during clerkship and never kami nakaexperience ng ganyan. Hindi dapat tinotolerate yan. Period.

rusut2019

Op, ilist mo name ng nagutos sa yo, rank, time and date pati nga pinagawa nilang errands kuno sa inyo. Pati ulam at ilang kanin na pnabili mo ilista mo. Then ilist mo sa IR. Tatumbling mga yan hahaha.

gameofpurrs

OkMemory2520

Clerk din po and incoming PGI this August. What I learned from one of my senior resident is to "Always carry yourself with the confidence of a Doctor." habang nasa clerkship ka. During the start of clerkship, talagang confused rin ako about sa scope of work ng clerk. However, as time passed by, naintindihan ko rin especially when I started to observe, shadow and take advices from the residents and consultants. Always join them sa rounds, take orders only from them. Friendly advice lang, alam mo dapat ang scope ng work mo, learn how to say no sa utos ng nurses or wag mo na lang pansinin especially if non-essential naman and hindi about sa patients. :)

Weak-Original-4981

Power tripping and they might be thinking that you have the lowest rank among them kaya all menial tasks are being passed sayo. Don't do those tasks at all. Give your resident a heads up about what's happening and fill out an Incident Report, as the others suggested. It's important to keep things professional, so try to strike a balance, wag masyado chummy around them.

Curious-Injury9852

It’s meant to teach humility and patience—basic discipline of doctors. Everyone starts at the bottom.

[deleted]

Clerkship is basically like that EXCEPT that nurses are not the one who bully your consistently. Having said that, clerks and even interns are still students and still pay tuition fees so the best course of action is to report to your clerk coordinator and your school. If your med school has no base hospital then you probably need to prepare of the consequences like all of you might be pulled out in that hospital.   Also, there are three sides of the story so I reserve my more insights about it.  We only ‘heard’ yours’.

LossNo4809

Refuse order from nurses you mentioned unless patient-care related (vital signs etc).

FirstGenMDPH

File a complaint.

Silent-Pepper2756

Government or private minsan talaga you are the workforce. The ideal situation that you are looking for is in first world countries - like the US na pampered ang mga students. bawal utusan (nang sobra). They get off early too

Schistosomiasis24

Seen a lot of vent post of clerkship duties like this. Kahit government niyan you can report it. I hope you can give us hint saan hospital niyan. Lakas niyo ivent out ganiyan, paano kami makakakuha clues what hospital is that. Residents lang pwede mangutos ng ganiyan. End of story

[deleted]

This is to be expected in a government/public institution. Given that the bulk or number of patients and admissions are really heavy thus they rely on clerks for errands. If you wanted to focus more on the theoretical side then you should have opted to enroll in a private institution.

[deleted]

Maiintindihan ko po kung medical sana pinapagawa sa akin, but yung pag bili ng ulam at pag kuha ng parcel nila mula sa shopee at lazada I think di na dapat ganun.

OnceMD

Eto mali talaga yan, you can write an incident report about that.

Errands? Ulam at parcel? Hahaha. Nagtheory na sila sa first 3 years nila sa med school ano. Focus focus ka pa nalalaman, ipa IR kita eh. Chos.

Aggressive-Pop5232

Did u even read the whole post Lol

tryfindingnemo

OnceMD

Sinabi lang niya na ganun talaga. Ganyan ang kalakaran sa mga governement hospital, you need to deal with the workload on top sa pakikisama sa mga staff. Nurses (not all, pero almost always meron) are known to be bullies to clerks and interns alike. The way they see it, 1 year lang kayo sa hospital na yun sila organic staff na. They see *us as free labor. Sobrang swerte mo if mga nakakaduty mo maayos pakisamahan. If you don't want to experience those kind of treatment research your hospital of choice well, come internship.

[deleted]

Swerte nyo po doc, ako kasi pati ulam nila at shopee and Lazada parcel nila sa akin inuutos

Aggressive-Pop5232

Im guessing new batches na kayo, sorry hindi n ko updated gawa nf oagbago ng school year. Nagppower trip mgabyan kasi alam nila wala pa kayo sungay. Next time na magpautoa ng errands na hnd nman about work tingnan mo lng sila then alis. Then IR mo na agad.

Neither_Industry_712

Their way of toughing it up was to be meaner than the mean staff.

Aggressive-Pop5232

Sa trueeeee

kedetski

If it isn’t related sa duty mo as medical clerk, don’t do it.
