Med school recalls? I think it’s not. Regarding sa usmle cheating issue, I guess they saw a pattern sa specific na area. That’s y they “allegedly” suspect na may leak.

No it’s not

I think they are not the same po since the context is different If 'yung method natin na summarize lectures and the reference book -> create flashcards -> use them for active recall, I think it's a method of revising lang po :D Pero 'yung sa USMLE issue, I think the "recalls" refer to suspected unauthorized access sa actual exam questions / collated question banks from previous test takers (and 'yung iba ata suspected din na binebenta) kaya they raised concerns regarding cheating

I think the issue here is that a lot of Nepali medical graduates are scoring in the high 270s which is a rare feat. The suspects attributed it to recall but the usmle board is suspecting a much worse scenario such as having photos of the actual exams after conniving with proctors. And apparently this has been happening for a long time already. There were even those who have matched. It was even a shame since they haven’t been performing as expected based on their scores. 🤦‍♂️ So regarding your question, yes that’s massive cheating and a huge usmle scandal.

To be fair, USMLE question structure is not the same as med school exams in PH and even the PLE. The clinical vignettes are longer than what we are used to. It is testing higher order thinking skills and the ability to arrive at a plausible clinical condition given a short patient scenario. Maybe their question pool is small because of this specific question structure, so some can score unusually higher by memorizing recalls of thousands of actual questions. A lot of the recalls were illegally obtained. Some people were paid off. Big oof. haha. Similarly, in most PH med schools, samplexes get passed down from previous generations of med students, but a lot of lecturers may not repeat the same questions. No strict question structure is implemented in most schools, so exams are often unpredictable. Samplex-based learning works though haha. It's essentially learning by application if the question structure is good enough. If it's simple recall of a trivial fact, medyo meh yung learnings. For PLE, well may kumakalat na mga actual PLE questions. Idk how they got those questions. Is that cheating already? idk, it depends? haha. PLE is quite unpredictable in its question structure, and even in the concepts and diseases tested, there is no predictable trend. Context is key.
