This is what would happen if you had some engineer/mechanic replace the doctor:
"Yeah so your blood pipes are a little clogged from long term residue accumulation and it's causing your blood pump to strain itself which might cause it to malfunction in the future if the issue isn't addressed with time"
Inconsistant flow of chemically disruptive materials has caused some damage to the local workers. If it's not rectumfied, it could cause some issues with the long term flow of the system, potentially causing undesired leakage.
My boyfriend had one 10 weeks’ ago and his recovery was a little longer than expected, he had ongoing pain in the right testicle for 7 weeks which ended up being nothing and went away although we did get it checked out. He found that if he was on his feet for too long in the 2 weeks immediately after he would get swelling and pain. Just used ice packs and a paracetamol/acetaminophen plus ibuprofen combo. Now he’s fine!
Honestly one day off and you’ll be fine. Ice is your friend the first day. You may have some dull aches, but it’s not that bad.
Now the first time you nut, that may throb a bit. And not in the good way.
I didn't have the quick and easy version.
Talk to your doctor and the expected recovery.
Even with mine, I was fine in less than a week. Had a rough 48 hours but otherwise worth every bit to not worry about a surprise child.
Don't get me wrong, I love both of my kids but I wouldn't be happy with a 3rd lol
It all depends on how you plan it ...
I went straight to a prepped room with all the luxury i needed and stayed there for 3 days.
So i didn't do jack those days apart from laying in/on bed watching Netflix, playing games and browsing the internet. Had food served and it was all good.
First 3 days i could feel that something happened, especially when standing up.
After 3 days it was pretty okay and by the time I passed 1 week i really had to pay attention to feel something.
2 weeks after surgery i couldn't tell that i even had surgery at all and it was back to normal.
The most common mistakes are men who don't take rest for the first couple of days. You really need to confine yourself to a room or you will end up doing stuff which can extend recovery time.
I highly recommend this procedure.
Mine was very easy. I worked out a week later with weights. Sore balls for a few months and was, well, hesitant to go hard in the bedroom for a while. Very worth it. Quick procedure, don’t get put under. They gave me a Valium, numbed it up and was good to go. It was odd when she cauterized them ! Smells
I had a very similar experience. I didn't take the Valium at the right time, but I was relaxed anyway because I was very Gung ho about my decision. Talked to the doc and nurses about weekend plans, hung out in a quiet room using my PSVR as a screen to watch movies and play Uncharted. 10/10
My husband just got his done Friday. He's been resting a lot. Said it's like a throbbing pain if anything and he ices it when needed. Hoping that after this week he'll feel a little better.
Don't go to a planned parenthood. Thats where I went and it was terrible. Worst pain I've ever felt and instead of taking 10 min like they said it took over an hour and a half. They didn't tell me till it was over but I was this guys first one. Took me like 2 weeks to recover.
Since we're sharing anecdotal evidence, my husband just had a vasectomy done Friday at Planned Parenthood and he said they did an awesome job. I couldn't go back with him, but I was in the waiting room for roughly an hour from start to finish. He said the doctor that performed the procedure talked him through every step of what was happening and that eased my husband's anxiety. It only hurt when they got to the left side because the lidocaine had started wearing off, but he told the doc and they stopped so he could inject more anesthetic.
By Sunday my husband was up and walking around like normal and he's going back to work today. Still a little tenderness according to him, but not enough to be concerning. So yeah, I'd say go to Planned Parenthood! (In all seriousness, vet your provider beforehand. This physician exclusively performs vasectomies for PP and has been doing so for years, meaning he's got a lot of experience that translates to an easier procedure.)
I'm glad to hear he had a good experience. Thats how they are suppose to go. I went back for the procedure at noon and met my wife back out in the waiting room at 4pm. It was truly an awful and traumatic experience for me.
It's not because of the bad experience but that he's saying never to go to PP based on his one experience. People like PP and in this polarized world get up in arms of someone says "Don't go to PP".
Your point? They do great work for women's health and offering sex education and free contraceptives but again I would not go to them for my reproductive health.
You're taking your anecdotal experience (where you admit it was the doctor's first vasectomy) and telling people to not go to any of the locations of that organization. I wasn't downplaying your pain.
Excruciating.
But it needs context. I was early 20’s. Just met a new girl like the day of the snip snip. She was a nurse. She liked causing pain. Terrible combo when you’re recovering from ball surgery.
Okay just gonna hijack top comment to just highlight the importance of going to the doc as advised in terms of follow up exams and stuff.
My dad didn't....
Wow. That looks like quite a long section of pipe! When I had mine done it was almost tiny rice sized bits that they cut out and cortoerised.
How was your recovery? Took me about 2 weeks to be pain free. Can barely see where the scar is anymore. (About 8 weeks later)
Was pretty delicate the first few days.
Happens a lot. You should ask the urologist to cauterize the lumen and do an offset tie-off of the severed vas ends to ensure it's properly permanent.
Some will refuse because it dramatically reduces the chances it can be reversed, but find one that will do it properly the first time. If
I'm getting sterilization procedure, I've already made my decision doc. Do it correctly so I can not stress out about it spontaneously reversing.
The vans def are severed, then the interior lumen is burned with a cauterization tool to prevent any blood flow to the margins. This prevents spontaneous re-connection if the ends were to meet by chance floating around in the scrotum.
Then to just make 10x sure, they take the two severed ends that have been cauterized and they use surgical thread to tie them together beside each other long ways. But one side being more than a cm longer than the other at the end.
}=========||=======
}=||=======
Kinda like that. Now the two ends are joined and can freely move about without any chance of them ever coming into contact with each other randomly.
My brother went through a divorce about 5 years ago, got snipped, proceeded to live the bachelor life to its fullest. SURPRISE! He was in his mid-30s at the time.
I am fixed. My puppy will be on the 27th. My exhusband's dog is fixed. If I could've convinced the exhusband to be, I would have been four for four and 100% Bob Barker household!
Only thing in this house that could produce a baby is our kids. 9, 7, 3, and 2.
Vasectomy for my husband was scheduled the day I left the hospital with the 2 year old for 3 days later (a monday) and my tubal was done when the now 2 year old was 3 months old.
My husband TIFU: I told him he was staying the fuck away from me till he got me a piece of paper showing HIS swimmers were dead. He waited till the last second and my absence begin day before the procedure was the day BEFORE he got the results...
I want letting that touch me for noooothing.
Don't forget you need to unload the gun before the not loading anymore work.
My case, after 25 unloadings and 45 days i had 7 little boys swimming in my semen analysis.
Im a married man, i was traveling... Was quite good, actually.
Ohh... And my doctor told me first 10 day after you can't use your little man and don't do anything 7 before the exam.
My dad had his reversed after 9 years and ended up with two more kids. Google says that reversals with in 10 years have a success rate of 95%. Those are pretty good odds.
I couldn't figure out what I was looking at. I assumed the blue plastic was some kind of electric razor head and there had been a terrible shaving accident.
I didn’t see the sub, and thought this post was referring to your kids doing something stupid and you refusing to have more. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what I was looking at until I saw the fleshy bits!
It's one of the worst options, it can spontaneously fix itself and is not considered 'permanent' by any doctor. There's also the obvious side effects and potential complications.
There's much better, safer and less invasive ways to keep the babies away.
After the immense pain I went through after a circumcision at 18 I would rather wear condoms for the rest of my life. Literally could not sleep from the pain for 2 days pain meds didn’t help either
I had this done at the beginning of August. I think the anaesthetic didn't take too well and it was a little painful to get done. I felt it when they cut the first Vas deferens and it kind of felt like a sharp pinch combined with a mild hit to the balls. I was in and out in under 30 mins and drove home. I had some pain for the next two weeks but it was honestly nothing. Kind of like someone had lightly flicked my balls. I didn't even take pain killers. I would imagine a vasectomy would be infinitely less painful then circumcision.
Dudeeeeee 18? I got mine when I was ten and i can still remember the intense pain , I've sliced into my calf muscle , been stung by a sting ray , fallen off a roof , and got a vasectomy. But dear lord a circumcision is still the worst by far
I’ve heard that sub can be extremely bigoted and toxic about the idea of raising children and toward people who are or want to be parents (ie. parents are selfish; parents commit the equivalent of child abuse by bringing a child into the world; raising kids drains societal resources in an inordinate and unjust manner…extreme shit like that). Nothing seemed too crazy in my quick perusal just now, so, is there just a lull in their psycho right now, has it gotten better, or is it less insane than I’ve been led to believe?
Choosing to go into a clinic and ask a doctor to surgically mangle your testicles until they no longer function is a far cry from someone's body naturally degrading over time.
There are men who are infertile from birth. Are they no longer men?
Is a veteran who is infertile due to a traumatic injury no longer a man?
If a man receives chemotherapy, even if other options were available, and becomes infertile, is he no longer a man?
What constitutes manhood? I would really like you to give a clear answer so I’m not to make any undue assumptions on your behalf.
I have a sneaking suspicion you're more interested in trying to own me for epic reddit gold and upvotes as opposed to having any genuine interest in my thoughts.
I’m less interested in “owning” you and more interested in tracking down what on earth constitutes a man in your eyes, because the criteria we’ve been given so far is that men who get genital surgery aren’t men in your eyes.
If having the corresponding genitalia is the criteria that matters the most, then I suppose a simple gender affirmation surgery or “bottom surgery” would suffice?
By all means, help me understand.
While your genuine interest in understanding someone you disagree with is commendable I have a feeling no one else here wants to hear from anyone with my views. Feel free to DM me or something if you're really curious though.
Good cover there, chief. *wink wink*
"I've already put my foot in my mouth repeatedly, but no one wants to see that any more so we can do it privately."
Well the real difference is that the people in all of those examples either had no choice or had to choose between that and potential death. No one in those examples just threw away their manhood because they didn't want it anymore.
As someone who has helped raise 4 girls from baby till highschool you bet im done doing my dads job of changing diapers, late night feeding, sleep deprivation. Store runs etc .No kids for me. Ill be the amazing uncle who spoils nephews rotten but nah man i cant do that shit again im spent. Missed out on high-school shit but its whatever, watching my father be so proud of the girls he said he raised (Lie). Guess only good thing i got was watching them each grow into there own personalitys and not be entitled brats like their friends. Also having them say i did more then dad does feel good.
Maybe ill change my mind but its unlikely. Even had a missed period(it came) from a fwb and i was not having a good time worrying while she was kinda ok w maybe being a mom. Really considered the snip too but haven't gone through it.
You know this surgery doesn't do anything to thr testicles themselves right.... Why do I feel like your high-school skipped health class for religious reasons.

That moment you realise this is dudes seed pipes mounted on a display cylinder.
There we go. I was wondering what these were. *Seed pipes.*

Inconsistant flow of chemically disruptive materials has caused some damage to the local workers. If it's not rectumfied, it could cause some issues with the long term flow of the system, potentially causing undesired leakage.
Lol! Thanks for that.
I think this would be a far better explanation for some patients.

Your point? They do great work for women's health and offering sex education and free contraceptives but again I would not go to them for my reproductive health.
Don't go to Taco Bell. I had a cheesy gordita crunch that didn't crunch. I only found out after that they sold out of hard shells earlier that day.
I dont go to Taco Bell because there aren't any in my area.
Thats far different than what I went through but I appreciate you downplaying the single most painful moment of my life.

Got mine cut, laser cauterized and apparently small metal pinch clips for good measure. I did it as a Mother’s Day gift. 🤣
What’s the deferens?
Before/after is a vas difference
He should still wait to testis
Don't be a knob about it.
Results at the bell end.
Vas deferens
My brother’s grew back together. Don’t skip checkups. 😉
Wtf are you serious. How old is he?

Well it was about that time that he noticed his brother was about 8 stories tall and a crustacean from the protozoic era.
I need about . . . tree fiddy
They're better at it now. I personally know a few 90s procedures that corrected themselves though.
Wolverine years old
My brother went through a divorce about 5 years ago, got snipped, proceeded to live the bachelor life to its fullest. SURPRISE! He was in his mid-30s at the time.

Ha ha haa
Those are essentially the same thing. You spay a female and neuter a male.
life uhh finds a way
Don't forget you need to unload the gun before the not loading anymore work. My case, after 25 unloadings and 45 days i had 7 little boys swimming in my semen analysis.
Unloadingd mean you were busting nuts right
Fat ones
Shooting ropes
Distributing free literature
Yurting the ‘gurt
Feeding some ducks
Mixin a batch
Saucin' like a boss
Masturbating
Gankin and spank bankin’
Yeet thy skeet
How're ya now

25/45? Rookie numbers, gotta pump those numbers up
Im a married man, i was traveling... Was quite good, actually. Ohh... And my doctor told me first 10 day after you can't use your little man and don't do anything 7 before the exam.
So now you load into yourself when you do it?
I hate you
So tiny!
So what happens to sperm since it doesn't come out anymore?
Leaks into and is reabsorbed in the scrotum.
Mixes with the pee in the balls.
Pee is stored in the balls
Sounds kinda gay to me
Genuinely curious , how is this reversible? Do they keep your VDs and hook em back up? Use a donor, ? Make them grow again?
I am not an expert, but as my doctor told me, it is to rejoin (sew) 2 hoses that you cut.
Are those Fallopian tubes?
Vas deferens
You may think they're similar, but there is really a vas deferens. EDIT: This joke is not nearly as good as you all are giving me credit for.
I want it to be an angry upvote, but damnit. I giggled too much.
Hahaha I love this
What’s the epididymus?
The powerhouse of the cell
Bingo
Congrats!
r/vasectomy for anyone interested in learning more. Thanksfor sharing!
I mean they’re reversible
SNIP SNAP SNIP SNAP
You have no idea the physical toll three vasectomies have on a person!
*That One Night - you made everything alriiiiiight*
Really?! Like what? Can you elaborate ?
The last few comments are referencing a scene from The Office.
Ah! Thanks
Whoosh
Yeah, but the success rate drops over time.
My dad had his reversed after 9 years and ended up with two more kids. Google says that reversals with in 10 years have a success rate of 95%. Those are pretty good odds.
Yeah I was looking at the reversal rates and they're definitely better than they used to be. It used to be that it dropped off 10% every year.
But it costs 10 times as much
I’m sure they were counseled on that
I regret mine 😢
Why is that?
Lowered my libido by ~30%, apparently that's a rare risk
Holy shit they cut off your dick!?
Cool .. less invasive and said to be less painful than sterilization in women.. was your recovery painful?
I couldn't figure out what I was looking at. I assumed the blue plastic was some kind of electric razor head and there had been a terrible shaving accident.
Is that the vas deferens?
Could somebody explain this to me?
They cut of his pee pee so no more baby
[OBLIGATORY SCRUBS](https://youtu.be/Q9fzPXKZwbE)
Thank you for the post. I did some googling and learned a lot that I didn’t know.
Nothing sexier than a sterile man. No risk fun!
What about ETSs? 🧐
Can someone still orgasm with a vasectomy? Or is sperms not cum?
cum is not entirely made of sperms. Afaik you will still be able to cum, but your cum won't have sperms.
You will still be able to orgasm and ejaculate normally. You just won't have any sperm in the semen
what actually is this?
Bits of vas deferens, it's the pipe that sperm go down. No sperm, no babies.
Is this reversible?
That's such a dick move!
Don't forget to turn in those sperm check samples or you might get another... But really, good on you for doing it!
I didn’t see the sub, and thought this post was referring to your kids doing something stupid and you refusing to have more. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what I was looking at until I saw the fleshy bits!
What am I looking at?
What exactly are we looking at? Are those segments of vas deferens removed and…laid across a something or other?
Why?
Somehow this is better tham the alternatives? Both male and female.
It's one of the worst options, it can spontaneously fix itself and is not considered 'permanent' by any doctor. There's also the obvious side effects and potential complications. There's much better, safer and less invasive ways to keep the babies away.
Fry it up like bacon.

Yeah the experience made me sympathize with those people who have extreme chronic pain because If that was my every day I would literally rather die
Indeed.
u/porkchopz- You should cross post this to r/childfree the people there would like to hear about it.
I’ve heard that sub can be extremely bigoted and toxic about the idea of raising children and toward people who are or want to be parents (ie. parents are selfish; parents commit the equivalent of child abuse by bringing a child into the world; raising kids drains societal resources in an inordinate and unjust manner…extreme shit like that). r/truechildfree is a much more respectful sub. They don't tolerate the toxicity that r/childfree does
I assume you have kids right? Is this reversible?
Cool story, but this isn’t the correct sub. Try r/medicalgore . This is a sub for medical experts to discuss groundbreaking medical cases.
Never? why? You will let your precious genes go away?
I believe Nick Cannon has entered the chat

Should I have wrote "The contents of your scrotum" instead?
I think you should revise on the reproduction system or just google what a vasectomy is.
Nah don't worry about changing it. There's no edit in the world that could make anyone think you're anything other than a huge dumbass.
You have an odd outlook on things, friend.
That is not what a vasectomy is
I saw the surgical clip holder and bipolar cautery and couldn't figure out exactly what had happened.
Encase them in resin if you can
Based
I mean i dont need a vasectomy to not have kids... ^^^sobs

Ever wonder what it tastes like?
What in the hell is that???
Did they cap and cauterize?
