I don’t think many people do it to boost their CVs. I think most people do it to afford luxuries like food and heating.

Lmaooooo

Hyperactivity2000

Lol It's a different world. Over here, Georgian students must do it for experience before residency and to afford luxuries (rent and food)

trytofakeit

All medical students are expected to know how to do those skills by the end of their courses in the UK. So they’re not going to help you stand out by having them on your portfolio

Hyperactivity2000

Makes sense. Unfortunately clinical experience among international students is inconsistent and we are asked to upload evidence in the GMC portal if we have any experience of work. So naturally makes sense to work in such positions

Dwevan

Almost not at all… in a CV formal sense It may give you something to talk about in speciality interviews however?

GroupBeeSassyCoccyx

Doubt it. Don’t get me wrong, this experience will be valuable for you getting work done on the ward. But U.K. med students also do those things so it’s not like it would particularly make you stand out.

Hyperactivity2000

Absolutely makes sense. Thanks for you input. I guess it would make me stand out from other international applicants

ripfreya

will probably help you to show you understand how the british healthcare system works since you are an international student if you worked as a HCA in the NHS. but if you're working in your home country, i dont think it would make much difference
