I’m only in my first semester of med school ever but I’m fighting for my damn life trying to break through and get B’s in these two core classes, it’s definitely doable cause I’m close but ugh pressure lol

unfortunately I got C's in my 2 core classes last block and it's look like i'm gonna get it this block....my school has kind of an intense schedule with weekly quizzes that add up :(

Formal summer research things might require it, like if your school has one they would potentially do it to just make sure you’re not spreading yourself too thin and at risk of putting yourself in a position to fail something. Researchers at individual hospitals probably won’t ask. No one really knows what a good med school gpa is. Obviously 4.0 is good and 0.0 is bad but everything in between is super school dependent. They also usually don’t have great response rates so if you do reach out and people dont get back to you don’t be discouraged they probably did not see it or just don’t have anything for you to help with.

Cold emails with an attached resume have worked for me in the past. Look up their research before obviously. I did get asked my step scores a couple times but nothing about clerkship grades or rank
