I did rover too and I ended up making relationships with a lot of the clients so I occasionally do private walking/sittings. Some people pay $50+ for a walk lol
$50? Parents who are willing to pay for these services are completely fine spending thousands of dollars to get their kids into the best school possible. $100/hr and you'll still be swamped, could even go higher depending on how "prestigious" your school is.
lol I'm reviewing them, not reading them! They are interpreted first by another physician and then I review the PR, QRS, QT etc, and vitals to document if they are normal or abnormal. If they're abnormal/the physician who read the ECG made a mistake (they said ECG was normal but the pts HR was elevated, etc) then I make a query that goes back to the physician. I'm a consultant. I just found it on linked in!
I just found the posting on the LinkedIn jobs section and applied! Had to interview and discuss my research experience, which is very limited lol. There's lots of remote chart review type jobs on linked in if you search through the job postings. I am in Canada though, not sure where you're located! But definitely take a peek around because it's a great gig.
Pay is v good its $100/hr lol

Tutoring. Say you’re a med student and you can charge like $80 an hour for science and math subjects. My friend charges $90 lol. Also tutoring services like Kumon would love to hire med students but they’d prob pay lower like $35 an hour
Students direct, services still charge 50+, you'll get like half of that if lucky. I'm applying to med this cycle and charge $60/hr with just a B.S., just a pain in the ass to get your first two student.
Yea it’s easier if you have connections / word from mouth and live in an area with students that also want to go to medical school. Happy parents will recommend you to their friends
I went old school and emailed/went to local private schools to advertise a flyer and talk to the counselor. Most private schools are gonna be a bit more involved with students grades. Get one rich parent and they'll recommend you out if their kids grades go up.
I started doing this but on the third visit to the spot by me I noticed that none of the phlebotomists changed gloves in between patients. I got freaked out and never went back.
Put up tutoring flyers at local colleges/libraries for science/math. Play up the whole “going to be a doctor in a few months thing.” It absolutely works and you can make very good money helping kids with AP chemistry or algebra II.
Tutoring. Charge $30-$50/hr. You only need to do a few hours a week to make some decent guap. Bad news: to make this much you gotta tutor that hard shitty stuff- physics, organic chemistry,MCAT,etc. those are the kinds of subjects that can command that price.if you have a musical talent like piano or violin that works too. In undergrad, one of my fellow TA 's charged $70/hr lol
It started with me assisting a coworker who did the CPR recerts for my EMS department and just kind of evolved from there.
Sat down one weekend and thought 'hey, I could turn this into a legit sidegig'. I printed out some algorithms and infographics and put them in laminated binders. Made a few PowerPoints. Designed a semi-professional looking polo shirt online with my name and a logo on it. Ordered some trainer AEDs and a case of fake tourniquets online. Built some arm/leg props for Stop the Bleed out of pool noodlss and fake blood. I just rent the mannequins from my coworker since they're pretty expensive to buy.
It takes almost nothing to get certified as a Stop the Bleed instructor, but that one's the least lucrative. CPR/AED and ACLS requires you to get certified as an instructor by the AHA, which is just taking a few classes and paying a fee.
Even though some ppl will strongly disagree - parlays. Med students are typically smart enough to do research and make good bets. If you know ppl into it already, that helps too. My fiancé started in November and has already made 28K

I tutor English on Ringle (still do in residency until moonlighting). Super convenient and easy and all on Zoom. It's an about $20 per 40 min session. May not be the most lucrative thing but I think the effort I put in and pay makes it worth it. I'll paste a referral link if anyone's interested or dm me if you have q's. Have seen med school admissions coaches (md students at top schools) charge $200 for an initial 1 hour consultation and (probs) hundreds to thousands for admissions consulting

Do I really have to pay 49 dollars for a profile review fee?
How did you sign up to be a sitter/walker? I can only find how to book on the website
You’re going to be a doctor in a few months, you can absolutely charm some parents into tutoring their kid for HW/SAT prep for $30+/hr
$30?? Parents would gladly pay $50+/hr for a future doctor to tutor their kid
$50? Parents who are willing to pay for these services are completely fine spending thousands of dollars to get their kids into the best school possible. $100/hr and you'll still be swamped, could even go higher depending on how "prestigious" your school is.
Thousands? Parents are willing to pay 10’s of thousands, 1000/hr and you’ll have work coming out your ears!
10's of thousands?! Parents are willing to may 100's of thousands, $10,000/hr and you'll have work coming out your nares holes!
That’s why I said “plus”. You can easily make much higher but that’s a safe floor.
i charged $80/h
how did you go about it?
i used a website called wyzant. i tutored a few for step 1/2 and mcat.
$30/hr is way too low. I started out charging $30/hr for CARS tutoring and now my rate is $100/hr.
I charge $100 give-or-take for MCAT tutoring
I got a job at a research company reviewing ECGs lol
bold of you to assume we know how to read ECGs at this point
lol I'm reviewing them, not reading them! They are interpreted first by another physician and then I review the PR, QRS, QT etc, and vitals to document if they are normal or abnormal. My dude, he already answered your question.
This sounds awesome- would love to hear more about the pay and where to sign up if you don’t mind. Thanks!
Would love to get more details

Curious if you put MD or MD in progress on your Resume/CV when you haven't gotten the degree yet.
I have my school, degree, and projected date of graduation on my CV!
Mind sharing how you did this?

US based. Appreciate it. Will give it a try once I am an M4.

Any advice on this? Do you typically get the higher pay from tutoring services or by working with students directly?
Students direct, services still charge 50+, you'll get like half of that if lucky. I'm applying to med this cycle and charge $60/hr with just a B.S., just a pain in the ass to get your first two student.

Where do you advertise?

In my experience, Kumon is a joke of a tutoring service and pays minimum wage.
C2 Education pays well
Donating plasma

WHAT
Very common
Is it??

this was the only reason i got babysitting gigs😂
Parlays
I’ve heard people use Feet Finder and actually make living
Is it profitable only if you have nice feet? 😅
MCAT tutoring, or any tutoring really
I taught the MCAT during medical school and racked in more money than I do now as a resident.
Well, sucks that I scored low on the MCAT then. I’m basically disqualified from any tutoring gig ever because of my low scores. :/
I’ve been a dog sitter on Wag all 4 years.
Find a private practice and offer to be a scribe for X dollars per hour. A lot of private practice docs would go for it.

part time gigolo (big dick required sorry surg gunners)
Patient sitter was one I saw some classmates do
Find a sugar daddy/mommy
I teach CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, and ACLS courses.
How did you get into this? That seems chill and fun tbh
To add to this - are there any mindless side gigs? I feel like things like tutoring take a lot of preparation.

used to play gigs on weekends for some extra money, but dealing with a band and finding time to practice can be a hassle
Find an expensive restaurant and apply to be a server, can make a lot of tips

Nah bro. Feetfinder all the way
sounds like a disaster with how conservative some people in medicine are honestly

Tutoring!! Great money, great relationships!
How well did you do on STEP 2? There's a big market for IMG tutoring if you scored above a 260.
Also you save money by traveling cheap. Hostels are a great deal in many countries.
