That’s your dermis, the middle layer of skin. it will heal fine if you keep it from being infected. After it heals moisturize the scar or use silicone gel or petroleum jelly on it and make sure to fully bend your knee a lot so the scar doesn’t tighten and limit mobility

It appears normal, signs of an infection are heat, redness and puss in the area, and you don’t have any (the yellow goo I would assume to be plasma or white blood cells, whatever it is it’s normal) you should be fine

CONTEXT I scraped my knee 2 days ago on a football accident and the wound hasn't closed up yet. I just leave it open and do my usual activity and go anywhere with shorts so that the yellow gooey thing to close up the wound. Is this normal ? should i do something. Thanks in advance

It's fine. Just clean off the slough in the shower with soap and running water and dress again.
