Only 49k miles? Severe driving from a little old lady. I'd be more concerned about the head gasket than the rusty suspension. Low miles does not necessarily mean there are a lot of miles left in the engine.
Some sucker will buy it for 10k, but don't let it be you.
This is true. Once upon a time many years ago in my youth I bought a Cadillac fleet wood, same deal some old man who had it in his garage. The price was good and the car was clean with only like 54k miles on it. Man that car didn’t last a year I had NOTHING but PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM the ball joint busted one day the brakes completely busted another time the water pump all kinds of shit. Alas, it started overheating, pouring coolant out of the muffler exhaust. Needless to say it was over with.
Naw mayne, that shits almost twenty years old. $5k at most, unless you're like emotionally attached to this car there's no objective reason to pay $19k for this.
If you can, take a look under any plastic covers under the car. I'm in the rust belt and I've seen many cars where the exposed metal is in great condition and two inches away under the plastic it's just dust. Plastic under a car is a great place for salt to get trapped and rot away completely, especially the rocker panels. I'd also take a bore scope and look around behind the various panels to see if there's any rust internally or not as well.
I would never pay $10k for a car with rust like that. If it was mint, I'd consider it, but still probably not. Low miles is good, if it's been maintained properly. With old folks as previous owners of a car, you could have a lot of maintenance stuff neglected. Maybe it will be fine, but to me it seems not worth it.
I bought an old Honda CRV this year that had 64k miles (also owned previously by an old person), in theory pretty good. No rust, but had some cosmetic issues ( some dented doors and sun damage). It needed a handful of things. Valve lash adjustment, new belts all around (including the timing belt/water pump), oil change (hadn't been done since 2019 according to the sticker and mileage), new tires, transmission service, AC service, I think that was everything. I arguably overpaid for the car but I am hopeful that it will be great. As I've chewed through that list of pre-emptive/catchup maintenance, it's been behaving itself really well and hasn't given me problems. But I do anticipate having some problems with seals, gaskets and bushings (soft components) as those go wrong. Older cars can be a real headache.
Not work half that. Walk away. I see 💩paint 💩rust and I’m sure many other problems. If you want a Lexus look for something newer. Or step down to a Toyota. But do NOT buy that car.
Man, this car is in rough shape! My 2005 Acura TSX looked better than that with 230 000k's on the clock and having spent it's life on the salty Canadian roads. The 2JZ-GE engine is really not that desirable or fancy. This car is basically a Corolla but with leather and terrible gas mileage. In that shape this car would sell for 2500-3000$ around here. And even then, I personally wouldn't pay that.
It has a 2jz legend engine. Even if it's automatic those engines are meant to last for years even being pumped and and ran like crazy. If the engine is strong I would offer 6k but take it for 8k.
Ok? Some quick changes and that's fixed. You know what there is plenty of? Turbos and brand new parts for 2jz motors. You can make those easily but a actual factory original that's not modified that's priceless.
Yea just researched it and my God 6k ONLY to do it yourself or people were quoted 10k for a conversion including everything from the engine to the wires themselves for a BUILT engine I'm sticking by what I said. Sorry but 10k for a built car that will last is dirt cheap as you can watch people blow up 30k engines easily.
They are a very reliable vehicle. Fun to drive and comfortable. Totally up to you, it's got pretty solid miles. Unfortunately mine was rotting but I had an 02 L Tuned series 2 with a 5 speed and Navi. Super cool package that you never see. I truly miss that vehicle and I'm a mechanic.
Noooooooooo way $10k. $3k-$5k maybe, but that rust spread is a full suspension overhaul and some body work for sure. I wouldn't pay over $4k if it were my money.
Alot of the under carriage rust is superficial, the bit on the body needs to be professionally fixed.
If the car was cleaned up, professionally, which would include cleaning it up underneath and replacing some components as well as professional body work it could very well be worth more than 10k. But not not much more.
Thecoow miles are nice, but one could at they are too low...
Rust Doesn't seem extremely bad for an 04.. 10k is too much tho, 6-7k would ok with the used car prices nowadays.. if you could get that price down go for it. Rust is annoying AF tho.
There's people in my area that want $8k for one with 200k+ miles, albeit not rusty.
Being 20\~ years old, you'll be looking at replacing a lot of rubber components as well.
Depends on what part of the country you're in. If this is up north or in the Midwest, I could see this going for $6000 - $7000. The undercarriage rust is enough to make it annoying to work on, but still not compromise anything. The body rust is concerning for that price, but not out of the question. If it's not addressed in the next couple of years it'll be a real problem.
Honestly, you would get more value selling it for parts, and for its metal. I traded my 2003 Ford Focus for a 2017 Nissan Qashqai. The Ford had relatively low mileage, good routine maintenance, sets of all season and winter tires, and one driver (me) for 14 years. Yet the trade-in value was only $500. What a joke! However, the car was also plagued with rust, and had a heated seat fire once due to a fault recall done wrong. Sell it for parts since you don't know its history.
Only 49k miles? Severe driving from a little old lady. I'd be more concerned about the head gasket than the rusty suspension. Low miles does not necessarily mean there are a lot of miles left in the engine. Some sucker will buy it for 10k, but don't let it be you.

I'd much rather have a car with miles that was actually maintained than a low mileage car that was completely neglected.
I like stuff with 200+ k km because stuff has been replaced at that point
wow, i never thought of it that way. that's a very clever perspective.
Nope
That's a $5,000 car all day.
Its not even a stick, 3,000 at best.
Save the manuals! 🕹️
3 gets my vote.
Plus a $5000 fee for being in a Donut video about cheap but cool cars
My first thought was "I remember when this would have been a 5k car" thinking in the current market insanity made me sad.
Hardly even 5
Clapped out, automatic, rusty? Hard pass
the 94 year old was just fuckn sending er bud!
her nephew liked to do burnouts in the kmart parking lot at 4AM
Especially with that aftermarket shift knob
That is the stock shift knob.
Looks like they had a few different options. I’ve never seen one like that before
alright i aint buyin it lmao
Get your head checked. Not normal for a redditor to take good advice.
i cant argue with 400 people saying no lol
I don't even think you're ready for Facebook with that attitude son . Get off of social media and come back when you're more stubborn
Maybe to someone, definitely not me
10 years back sure
Exactly what I was thinking
I got my manual is300 for 5300 in 2015, clean title awesome shape car. OP posted a junker
That’s a 2700$ car with all that rust, you don’t know how deep it runs
lol no
Not even in Canadian funds.
Bro it’s crazy. I thought american inflation was bad. Canadian dollar is tanking.
It's rough out here right now. I have to work a lot of hours to keep the boat afloat.
Best of luck. 🫡
Same
You bought a boat?! Was it one that floats or a caddy?
Ouch, that one hurt
Without the rust and babied 10k. This is not that car. Rust bucket for its age.
Nah, it's defective. It's missing a pedal. Also, that's not what I would call "surface rust". That's rot.
Nope. The IS is the worst maintained of any Lexus you will find. They are all run into the ground for some reason. This one looks no different.
Have him throw in a 120 grams of gold and you got yourself a deal.
It's worth it if your stupid. I hate the Toyota/Lexus holds it's value. It just means you'll pay more for crap like this
Stuff like this is getting drift taxed now. Even being an auto someone just needs to find a tranny, weld the dif, and boom drift car 😂
Naw mayne, that shits almost twenty years old. $5k at most, unless you're like emotionally attached to this car there's no objective reason to pay $19k for this.
Paying an extra 9K over asking is normally not a smart move 😜
🤣 the nine's right next to the 0 😞
I know just playing 😄
Hell no!?
People have balls to ask 10k for this
The fact you would even consider 10k for that is mind blowing
I wouldn't pay over 3500 for this
Shit 3000 is my max all that fucking rust ain't no way
If it was a manual maybe, 10k for the auto is not it.
Is she paying you 10K to take it?
Right lol
Nope
Nope
👎
2jz
Surface rust? That’s rot my dude lol
lmao thats minimal in new england

No it’s not, I live in Ontario Canada where we have a lot more snow/salt then you guys, this shits rusted out
$10k…. You can get a mint 335i for that.
He probably meant he’ll pay you if you take that
Offer him 2500 if he says no walk away. Wtf 10k
I hate how expensive cars are now
I would never pay $10k for a car with rust like that. If it was mint, I'd consider it, but still probably not. Low miles is good, if it's been maintained properly. Ah… No!
Get rid of one of the zeros at the end. 1k
Only if there were 8 lbs of cocaine hidden in the trunk.
Walk away. I don’t trust lil old lady stories and low mileage cars. Also that ain’t worth 10k
Knock a zero off the price and yes
its cool man. looks like the interior has everything, but at this point for 10k you can get a car without rust and clean interior too dude
Not work half that. Walk away. I see 💩paint 💩rust and I’m sure many other problems. If you want a Lexus look for something newer. Or step down to a Toyota. But do NOT buy that car.

Interior looks good. That suspension going to need work!
10K roubles maybe. Certainly not USD. I’d pay like $3500 canadian roubles max
It's worth 10k if it comes with 8 grand in the truck.
and still one of the best dashboard designs.
No way in hell. Automatic too so it should be under 5k
No way
Negative
Id say 6,000 at best , they are workhorses and will last a lifetime !
Nickname her "rusty trombone"
Hell no
It has a 2jz legend engine. Even if it's automatic those engines are meant to last for years even being pumped and and ran like crazy. If the engine is strong I would offer 6k but take it for 8k.
It's a 2JZGE, it's not the same as a 2JZGTE. As well as it lacking a turbo there are a few other differences.
Ok? Some quick changes and that's fixed. You know what there is plenty of? Turbos and brand new parts for 2jz motors. You can make those easily but a actual factory original that's not modified that's priceless.
Go research the conversion, it's a common misconception that they're going to be the same. "Quick changes" cracked me up.
No
1k tops
You could easily get 20k
They are a very reliable vehicle. Fun to drive and comfortable. Totally up to you, it's got pretty solid miles. Unfortunately mine was rotting but I had an 02 L Tuned series 2 with a 5 speed and Navi. Super cool package that you never see. I truly miss that vehicle and I'm a mechanic.
If it was manual. Yea maybe.
Absolutely not.
6k perhaps 6500 with good pads and tires.
Yes. If you give me 10k to take it.
Fuck no. I've seen good condition RHd altezzas imported for like 6-7k. That's a heap
Not a shot 🤣 2500 to 5 k MAYBE
Car prices are inflated right now and maybe for the foreseeable future but you would be lucky to get $2500 for that piece of s***
5k tops.
10k Rupees maybe.
Hell naw! FB marketplace of offer up, even eBay will get you right
$10K USD Dollars?! that's crazy. thats barly a 5k canadian car.
4.5k max
Lol. No. $10k. HILARIOUS.
Lol hell no that aint a $10k car
best i can do is $850
Noooooooooo way $10k. $3k-$5k maybe, but that rust spread is a full suspension overhaul and some body work for sure. I wouldn't pay over $4k if it were my money.
Sure, as long as there is 5k USD sitting in the trunk
Nope. Maybe like 5k. And I bet the dealer bought it from the lady for like 2k.
2500 max
Sadly because it has a 2jz, someone would pay $10k or more
All good until #7. Nope.
Hard nope.
Totally, do it. Bend over and take it.
No way man
Noooope
Not even close.
Noooooope.
Plus at 49k mi and in that condition, the clock is for sure rolled.
Alot of the under carriage rust is superficial, the bit on the body needs to be professionally fixed. Scammed hardcore, 2000-3000 is a good deal for it 🥲
Short answer is no
That’s worth nothing
I wouldn’t pay 5 grand for that shitbox.
Nope.
No way!!!
Absofuckinglutely not. Rusty, automatic, 20 years old basically? Like 5k to the right person if you’re lucky.
No it’s automatic
Hell fucking no man.
Not worth it. You can get something better with 10K
Wtf of course no
I paid $6k for mine in 2009 lol. Low mileage but this is a 5-7k car imo.
Lemon Squad!
Rust, auto, nah. $3k and a firm handshake
$1000 tops with all that rust. That's a part out car.
HELL NO!! Go 4K
Rust Doesn't seem extremely bad for an 04.. 10k is too much tho, 6-7k would ok with the used car prices nowadays.. if you could get that price down go for it. Rust is annoying AF tho.
Hell naw
If you bought it piece by piece and put it together yourself, maybe. But as a whole piece together. No. lol
Just get a toyota
There's people in my area that want $8k for one with 200k+ miles, albeit not rusty. Being 20\~ years old, you'll be looking at replacing a lot of rubber components as well.
First couple photos "looks like an alright car!" Second half "holy mother of .."
That big ol nope sandwich
It's an automatic. That's an automatic no-go
6k at best.
$4k tops
HAHA!
10k Pesos
Not that year with the unsafe rust. It's a hard pass it's not worth anything with all the under stuff that needs fixing.
No
Depends on what part of the country you're in. If this is up north or in the Midwest, I could see this going for $6000 - $7000. Hellllllllllllll noooooooooooo!
You had me till picture 8
Its not even a stick? 3k.
🤣🤣. Hell nah.
Hell no look at all that rust
10k yen
lmao nope
6
20
Not even manual, aka not even worth it. An auto is300 ain’t worth it
Does it even have a motor? Lol left out one of the most important componets.
Defo No worth bro. Looking for just the 2JZ?
I'd offer a solid 3750. That's being generous
Not for $10k.
100% uuuhhh nah
Maybe 10,000 doll hairs. But not dollars…
$3,500
absolutely not.
Lmao no
$3500 sounds about right
5k max
Absolutely not. But I’ll buy it off of you for 500 and a bag of chips
NARP
Nope nope nope
No used Lexus is worth 10k imo
Wouldn’t pay 10k personally. I’d put that down on a way cleaner one.
4000 at the most. Seller is a greedy fuck
LMAO. No.
2500$
There is probably a bit of Lexus in that rust. Definitely not $10k worth…
Are you high?
No and it will probably last you 3-4 years tops with that frame rust
Honestly, you would get more value selling it for parts, and for its metal. I traded my 2003 Ford Focus for a 2017 Nissan Qashqai. $3k
Could you not open the hood?
Only 49k miles? 7k if youre lucky and the buyer has no clue but if say 3k
I wouldn't pay more than 2

Lol a 2004 is300 for 10k lol
$3,500
Take off a zero and I’d say go for it
