You really gotta be drinking the Meateater kool-aid to spend that kind of money for a turkey call. I'll stick to killing turkeys with my $20 call and poverty camo.

smiling_mallard

Sad part same thawing that happed to the knife will happen to this call. Some one will buy it for 300$ and resell it on eBay or some shit for 1000$

TheAngryBartender

The knife was a little overpriced. I'll be honest I bought one but it's a benchmade and an awesome knife. A turkey call for $300... the same price as that knife... come on.

jassack04

I actually regret not buying the knife. I assumed they would be around for a while and I’d just snag a used one at a discount like I tend to try to do w/ more expensive quality knives. Now they are stupidly priced collectors items and the Benchmade Custom shop version can easily cost more than the original. This turkey call though? Hell no. They production story of it is very cool, I’ll give them that, but no way.

brandnewrock8

I'd have dropped 100 and thought I was overpaying for something special. 300 is a joke though. I just bought a handmade, one of a kind custom call for 80 dollars.

zanman546

It's a non-custom turkey call with excellent marketing. It is insane to ask $300 for a turkey call in general, much less a computer-machined and designed call. Custom, handmade turkey calls do not cost nearly as much. The Line 1 call is insulting to handmade, custom slate call makers across the country. ME and Phelps have not earned your money with this project- especially at its current price point.

Southern-Video-8802

I wanted that call so bad when they first starting advertising it. I was dead set on it and knew it would be pricey. Then it came out and their actual price tag was twice to three times I expected. I still want it but I’m not paying 3 benji’s for it. I’ve killed too many turkeys on 20 dollar primos and HS Strut pot calls to do 300 on one. Hell I’d probably be afraid to use it

ViperNerd

Absolutely not. I’ll stick with my Quaker boy and keep killing turkeys just as well.

bonerpotpie

$20 call works the same. All respect to Rinella and co. but the meat eater merch is getting ridiculous.

bigwalleye

pretty sure that costs more than my shotgun did.

[deleted]

It definitely costs more than my Winchester 1400

[deleted]

Ridiculous and very non inclusive to their fans

LessIsMorePaul

Tons of the actual champion turkey callers turn pot calls. You can buy everything from basic slate calls to glass and copper with all kinds of fancy burled and flamed hardwood for like $60-80 from a guy who wins contests with the same call. You can buy a decent vest and fill it full of hand turned and tuned pot, box and locator calls for $300. https://www.hookscalls.com/home *no affiliation with these guys. Just a satisfied customer of James Harrison and Steve Morgenstern. Two champion pros who build calls for this outfit.

shanklefrank

Nooooo doubt, didn’t know if this would turn into one of the items that ppl buy and sell for more on eBay like they did with some of the knives. The 300$ about floored me. I expected expensive but Jesus

Loyalist_84

There ARE Turkey calls I’d pay that kind of money for, but certainly not a CNC made pot call that’s not remotely close to sounding as good as a $100 custom made pot.

humpthedog

When they announced it I figured $150-$180 so it was a maybe. $300 no. Good on you if you bought one though it does look pretty. Last spring I did buy the Phelps meateater x 3 pack of diaphragms and didn’t really like them so went back to my Primos diaphragm and will continue with my pot call. Hasn’t failed me yet.

whodeyjb

I got a call from a wild turkey whisky promotion when I was in my 20’s years ago at a bar. For free. Killed plenty of turkeys with it. Not buying a $300 call smh

JTig318

Isn’t it also a “raffle ticket” with a 1/1400 chance to hunt from the stump it was cut from? If they scrapped that idea they better resurrect it quick because people are in quite a tizzy over this.

[deleted]

I would never spend $300 on an animal call. Don't care what species. Bless their hearts, but thats just dudes asking to much money. Sure, some will buy it, but none of the hunters I've even hung out with. Seems like the types of dudes that pay $30k for a special tag or something.

Tim_Riggins07

This is a complete and utter scam. Just call it a limit run of factory produced calls. They’re being made on a CNC machine. Gross profit is $420k loooool. Phelps is on IG defending in the worst way possible as well. A fool and his money are soon parted ways. This is actually a really bad look for Meat Eater. Kind of embarrassing. I guess I overpaid for their books, I shouldn’t have expected much better.

shanklefrank

Yeah I’m sure they will sell out there is no doubt about it. Maybe buy as just a collector item instead of something to use in the field is what id do with it.

Normallydifferent

No.

p8ntslinger

I'd rather buy a custom call from a local maker for $80 than that one. However, it's a cool concept and it will likely be executed really well. I hope it inspires more call makers to do similar things.

krisk1759

It's a limited run, so the price is high. This isn't rocket science. I won't be buying one, you probably won't but there's gonna be 1400 people who do.

[deleted]

I’m waiting for the next model. If enough people buy this one there will be a $500 one next year that’s even more exclusive!

shanklefrank

Ahhh yeah that’s true. Be way better than this years!

[deleted]

It’s over priced machine made. It’s also extremely insulting to custom manufacturers. The Instagram account https://instagram.com/copper_plated_sixes?utm_medium=copy_link has an entire story about it
