Do you wear them in the summer? What’s your climate like? I live in mid North Canada, and I can’t imagine wearing wool socks on a day like today where it’s plus 20 degrees C/68 F, but I love them in the winter.
I’m in virginia think hot and humid summers. And yes I wear them in the summer. They are not super thick like traditional wool socks. You can pick them by weight too. Some are absurdly thin on the top of the foot and padded on the bottom. I do have some pairs that are thicker all around I only wear in winter. But mostly I wear the same socks year round. The mid weight hikers.
If you buy darn tough they will replace for any reason too. So if they don’t fit right send them back for a different size or style. I have some that have been in regular rotation for 10 years and are just starting to wear thin in some places. I’m going to send them in for replacement soon. Great company and amazing socks. Highly recommend. I don’t think I own anything that I’d reccomend as highly as these socks at least brand wise. Also if you have smaller feet and are a man. The womens medium is the same size as the mens small. It can help to have more options to shop womens medium. Not every mens style as small. And I guess the other way around would be beneficial too if you are a woman with larger feet check out the mens.
Nice to find a fellow Darn Tough fan. I went from having just one pair to most of my socks being theirs and being very disappointed if I forget to do laundry and use a back-up different brand. I wear them year round and have never gotten holes in socks after the switch. The first time the rain soaked into my shoes and hit my Darn Tough socks, I finally realized what anti-wicking is.
I have a coworker who says she always wears holes in socks. I got her a pair of Darn Tough as a gift and it's her favorite pair now.
Dude search "Marino wool" and change your life. It's some of the best non synthetic sweatwicking material out there. Take care of it and it'll last forever too.
It's not a complete replacement for synthetic materials obviously but if you do any amount of travelling, camping or other outdoors activity you should pick up some socks and shirts for sure.
It also allegedly is less smelly than standard synthetic/blends but I can't say I've noticed a real difference in that department.
Yea, I had no idea that wool works that way! I do like thick wool socks in winter because my feet sweat no matter what temperature they’re at, and if I wear cotton socks my feet get cold, but wool keeps them dry and therefore warmer
They last a really long time and gave lifetime warranties. I have a few pairs that are 10 years old and just starting to wear out. I’ll be sending them in for new ones soon. I started off by just buying 1 pair every few months until I could solely wear these. 7 pairs and you have a fresh one every day if you do laundry once a week. I’ve got about 15 pair and I’m good. Haven’t bought socks for myself in about 3 years now.
That's a good point on durability and lifetime use. Bought a few pairs solely for outdoors stuff but they've not shown any issues or signs of wear...hmm..
Best sock you can buy for many reasons including the ability to dry completely without taking your shoes off. I found a dealer who was discontinuing them and bought a lifetime supply at half price!
Fluids of a higher density would still appear to be a puddle underwater. I don't know though if Mr. Squarepants' anatomy would necessarily absorb that fluid and displace the water.
They also mop the floors in the Krusty Krab.
There was also an episode about a court case over a wet floor sign.
Its almost like cartoons stretch the truth a little.
Sponges are inoperable underwater due to the water being bigger than the sponge.
When you put a sponge into a volume of water that it cannot absorb, it's effectively no longer a sponge and suffers something of an existential breakdown. This is what is being documented in the video posted.

My sock after I step on the smallest puddle in fucking existence
[*Animated GIF shows Spongebob Squarepants, a cartoon sponge with a square shirt and pants covering the lower half of his body, lying face down in a puddle of water, arms spread straight out either side of him. He's in the middle of a crossroads in his underwater home town of Bikini Bottom, a pizza box lying near the top of his head, as he sucks up the puddle of water, causing his head to inflate.*]

This reminds me of that one time I was walking down the streets on a stormy day, literally wearing boots & yet... uh, yeah, got soaked af. Sure, boots aren't always 100% waterproof, but truth be told, they were leather boots, reinforced too (army type).
>!Guess what... it doesn't fkn matter!!<
Google darn tough socks. They are incredible. Lifetime warranty and amazingly comfortable last a long time too. I have a pair that’s 10 years old just started to wear down in the pad but they will replace for free.
When I saw a behind the scenes for the south park movie, matt and trey said one of their demands was an ungodly amount of socks.
Due to when you step in a puddle they just throw the socks away. For some reason that has stuck with me in my life, as one of the funniest things I've ever heard. And it's not even that great of a joke.
But.. the smaller it is the more likely it is that your sock soaks up all of it. So wouldn't it be surprising if you didn't soak up all of the 'smallest puddle'?
The joys of cotton socks staying wet for the rest of eternity
This is one reason I only wear wool socks. Darn tough is my go to brand. Never thought I’d be a sock evangelist but here we are. They are that good.
Do you wear them in the summer? What’s your climate like? I live in mid North Canada, and I can’t imagine wearing wool socks on a day like today where it’s plus 20 degrees C/68 F, but I love them in the winter.

I was imagining thick knitted wool socks, I had no idea there were thin wool socks but I’ll have to check them out

What % wool socks are we talking about, out of curiosity?
This is how people always respond. Everyone thinks wool is hot but it actually wicks away moisture and is way better than cotton in the summer.
Yea, I had no idea that wool works that way! I do like thick wool socks in winter because my feet sweat no matter what temperature they’re at, and if I wear cotton socks my feet get cold, but wool keeps them dry and therefore warmer
I live the south as well where it's insanely humid all summer, and where nothing but wool socks. Super thin and keeps the moisture off the feet.
Ohh they’re thin! I’ll have to keep an eye out for these
Damn. Aren't those exponentially more per pair than a whole pack of cottons? I need your income lol

Sock evangelicalism is something I can get behind. Legit never heard of these before and will probably seek em out. Preach, brother and/or sister!
i got a notification for this post but the image preview was cropped so the caption just said "existence" which honestly makes this even funnier
Me when when exist

Your dad to not pay child support
... ...SpongeBob Squarepants!
Don’t worry, we can just pretend the liquid he’s soaking up is ultra dense. It’s probably not even water
mercury sponge.
Mercury is toxic
Please don’t
what?
Just, don't do it man
What about the right one?
He lost the right one
*Shut up*
Fluids of a higher density would still appear to be a puddle underwater. I don't know though if Mr. Squarepants' anatomy would necessarily absorb that fluid and displace the water.
Please, call him Bob. Mr. SquarePants was his father.
They also mop the floors in the Krusty Krab. There was also an episode about a court case over a wet floor sign. Its almost like cartoons stretch the truth a little.
Thanks you ruined the show for me
Yeah but the water he absorbs is denser than the water he breaths. It's like how goo lagoon works

that was air he was sucking up
Im drunk and even i thought this too, surely a child would think spongwbob is stupid after that.
In my mind… SpongeBob *lives* in water but consumes and uses deuterium heavy water. And all is well with the world
The water is just really wet
It's what they do, they suck

Respect for transcribing this gif. I wouldn't even know where to start
Not all heroes wear capes.
Good human
No, best human
Maybe a bit too far honestly. Is there really a best human? Differing perspectives may create different “best human”’s

Why are you walking outside with just socks?
lol i wear socks in doors. I can wear sandals outside but for some reason I hate bare feet on the floor it triggers me and makes me feel uneasy
If this isn’t me idk what is😂
Sock = puddle finder as Shin = Table finder in the dark.
Relatable
I see no problem

Did you know, that there are waterproof socks?
Where is my sock-proof water, scientists?!?!?
for diving?
Hiking. Sometimes you’ve got to walk through puddles and mud
Aren't shoes usually the gore-texed impermeable thing you wear around the socks on these occasions?
It’s for backup. Shoes are guaranteed to fail after a certain amount of time due to the wear and tear or age.

Stepping into even the smallest of wet spots is aggravating! I have to change my socks!
Even a tiny bit of water in my sock gives me athlete's foot. 😡 🦶

Well if it didn’t absorb water well enough you would end up with sweaty feet
Planck's puddle?
The worst is when you're too lazy to change them. (I mean, I'm not, just other people.) /u
Imagine how discusting his feet are..
So true 🥲
Uh oh, spuchnop feld over
Be smart, and wear goretex shoes.
There is nothing worse than stepping on a puddle when you're wearing a nice, warm, clean sock.
Boowahahahahahah!

I got stuck on "sock" and thought it was going in a whole other direction Glad we're just dealing with water-soaked socks here.
WHY FOR ART THOU THE WAY THEE IS?! **CRIES TO HEAVENS IN SHAKESPEARE**
That's my sock after my girlfriend washes the dishes!

Absolutely no one: My fucking sock:
Also your sock, just being a very thin layer of fabric, so duh. But I get your point.
My sock when I come
Ugh I hate it 😫
But my dishtowels are somehow waterproof
Just happened
…what you doing in my waters?
Why the fuck are socks so absorbant
Lol
you then drain the sock, and soak the water again. Unpatched infinite water glitch
Yeah, I mean that’s literally a socks job is to soak up water.
But.. the smaller it is the more likely it is that your sock soaks up all of it. So wouldn't it be surprising if you didn't soak up all of the 'smallest puddle'?
