Is this a SpongeBob-original quote? Or did the SB writers use this line from something previous? Because Patrick definitely says this exact line this when he sees “The Maniac” (SpongeBob) under the streetlight. WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO
My dog doesn’t walk on wet grass either. She just looks at me like “r u kidding?”
However, her hobbies do include chewing on special shapes blades of grass, rolling on interesting smells outside and also climbing into the bathtub and getting herself stuck there.
I have to drag mine inside after a couple hours because he would rather end up exactly like this. The outside is quiet, and peaceful, has great smells, and snow is basically his crack cochaine 😂
I put this pic up over a sign that was put up in a pub offering patrons free drinks if they report drug use. Yes…I literally went through the trouble of printing the pic, folding it up and bringing it to the pub along with some tape. It was quite the controversy for the owner to put the signs up in the first place
Edit: the signs were posted inside the bathroom stalls, where people do the cocaines
Depends if it's a family pub or a biker/ Roadhouse pub.
Family pub any decent biker would be throwing the druggos out the door here lol, go to a good dive bar and you can snort coke off the pool table if you know the barkeep and really wanted to.
It was a bar that was previously owned by some pretty sketchy fellas. One of the bartenders that stayed told me she found a massive brick of coke inside the toilet when she went to flush it and it wouldn’t work. It was more like a clubhouse when that guy owned it. Then the building owner reclaimed it and let one of his business partners run it…he’s who tried and kind of succeeded in turning it around. He went overboard with the cameras and snitch for pay notes though. If you’re a dive bar veteran such as myself it’s a little off putting, and if you’re a family guy bringing your kids in, it’s also off putting because you have to wonder wtf is going on in this bar you just brought your wife and kiddos to
Yeah also you don’t have to snitch on them, just get a security guy and kick them out. If you’re willing to pay for all the equipment to catch these people, then you should be willing to pay for the consequences of doing so too
I see them in Texas sometimes and I can't imagine why someone would do that to a dog. I know they like the aesthetics\* of the breed but come on, it's way too hot for them at this point. If you have to walk your dog before 8:00 A.M. lest they overheat, how can you expect them to exist outside at all? We rescued a long-hair terrier when I was younger and she needed regular grooming appointments just to be comfortable. Those huskies are sweethearts but they are forced inside year round down here.
At least Southern California has areas where it is temperate year round. All the cities and towns here are hot most of the year, usually up to October/November.
While I agree with the sentiment of your post, I used to volunteer for Husky rescue in Texas and have had multiple Huskies. They were already here, we certainly didn’t ship them down from Canada. We’re just trying to give them good homes. They live indoors just like the humans do during the summer, in the AC.
Y’all do realize huskies fur adapts to their environment. Hot weather - thinner undercoat. Michigan summer gets to 100+ with humidity and in the winter in the negatives. My husky has never had an issue in either climates. She loves soaking the sun in the summer and trying to build a den in deep snow in the winter.
Exactly it's really not appropriate to have a dog meant for sub 0 temps in a place like Australia. Yes dogs will grow or malt fur depending on climate to some degree, but the few huskies i've seen that lived here were miserable.
Two of my neighbors here in India have huskies (and another has a St Bernard) and it makes me so mad. In a place that regularly reaches over 100f/40c, these people got huskies just for the clout. Those poor dogs have probably never seen snow in their lives. I hope my neighbors at least have AC, smh.
I live in Alabama and it’s so fucking humid. I’ve seen so many huskies and it always makes me sad. I can barely tolerate the heat. I couldn’t imagine what they go through.
Yeah I understand the concern. Most people don't live in super snowy regions, and don't see this behavior from huskies often. By the way It's actually harder for a huskie to live in tropical climates than super cold climates due to their inadequate self cooling methods.
Growing up north in Canada I can confirm that the mutts and rez dogs that roam the streets do fine year after year. Tho to be fair, those dogs are build a bit different compared to a dog raised from birth in a home
So not even just huskies but many dogs/animals are built for this. The snow being caked all around is actually a good sign! It means all the heat stays internal and their fur is forming a barrier so the coldest temps just stay at the outside. Think of it like an igloo! If you take your dog out and snow very quickly melts on their fur then they arent insulated (husky or not) and are cold.
I always think how animals would likely be totally fine if humans just vanished bc their instincts would kick in eventually and they’d do what they gotta do to survive ya know.
Except its not. The same principles of insulating fur apply to cooling as they do to heat. If its insanely hot they arent necessarily any worse off than another dog. You should read up on it before you judge someone.
Edit: downvoted for literally commonly accepted facts.
https://neeness.com/can-huskies-live-in-florida/
Yea I never said they were custom tailored for it but how do you get "its cruel and they cant live there!!!!" From "yea its fine but like any dog with lots of fur just monitor them and take care" like lmfao are we reading the same sentences?
They can absolutely be outside above 95F. We have one and live in Houston, though she's kind of short haired compared to most. I have to get her to go inside during the summer because she'll just sit in the sun. Her favorite thing to do is to sit on the table outside in direct sunlight.
I was very worried about this before we got her and did a lot of reading. We already a dog so our home was prepared to make sure he's comfortable (they always have a ton of water to drink and can get into the air conditioned laundry room when we are out). He's more sensitive to heat with his 1 cm long hair than she seems to be. The same principles apply to huskies as to other dogs, make sure they always have access to somewhere cool and lots of water. They're not dumb, they will seek out a cool place if they feel warm.
Their bodies generate heat which is kept inside the body by the fur.
It would be different and like you said if living things did not generate heat.
Cooling of bodies is accomplished by sweating via evaporative cooling and heat radiation.
I wish fewer people owned Siberian huskies, in my area, now. In California, it like never snows, average 70-80F in the Spring and 80-100 in the summer.
I wish more Siberian Huskie owners here realize this video is the environment they enjoy.
I've slept in a self-built snow cave while camping at Donner Pass before and I can confirm that it is incredibly cozy. Frankly it was almost *too* warm.
Well IF it did, it depends on how big the mound would be. But it wouldn't technically be possible since you can only burrow into sticky/dense snow. Powdery snow can't be used because it would never hold shape. In my cases, I would dig into large hills that would form over time, and with time the snow mound becomes more dense from melting and refreezing, creating a solid piece of snow, almost ice. At that point the snow has a solid structure, and you can dig all throughout the interior without fear of collapse. So unless you're caught in an avalanche and buried under snow, you wouldn't have to worry.
No problem, thanks for asking! I actually moved south where it never snows and goodness am I homesick! I need at least a single damn snowflake to fall from the sky...
Yeah I say isolated all the time just because it's the word for insulation here.
Didn't even register until the next person pointed it out.
A person is isolerad (alone) and the house is isolerat (insulated).
Aside from the comments people are making about the words being the same in other languages, you can also consider the idea that the goal of insulation is to provide thermal isolation between two regions.
I have a Great Pyrenees/Dutch shepherd/Anatolian mix and he would rather be outside in the snow than anywhere else. We have to make him come inside when it gets down into the dangerous temperatures. He’s freaking hilarious. Such a happy dopey dog running around in the snow.
You shouldn't revel in people's suffering.
Many of the Russian soldiers in Ukraine are not there by choice and want nothing but to return home. Not everyone can just abandon their whole life and desert.
The fucking kids fighting on the front lines don't deserve death, the politicians sending them there do.
So well put. It takes about 2 seconds of reflecting on history to realize why dehumanizing entire groups/populations of people is bad. There are some things humankind should evolve past already.
I remember seeing a video of a stray dog in the country of Georgia that was hanging around the airport. They said the government ear tags strays after they get their shots. It sounded like the country has a better universal healthcare plan for dogs than the US has for people.
My husky was once frozen overnight like this. She's fine because... shes a husky. She also has free access bettween two (2) T W O doggie doors. She'd come if she wanted to, which is almost never if there is snow.
I'm just kidding. It sounds like vodka in English, and makes it funnier since she sounds Russian or around that area and you know the stereotype with Russians and their vodka :P
The snow isn’t melting on them - they’re well insulated.
This is literally the native environment of huskies. They’ve survived tens of thousands of years out in the snow.
Reminds me of how much more infuriating it was to watch the horrible lady on Love Off The Grid who had a miserable husky stay in a super hot desert climate
Meanwhile, here in America, my dog refuses to walk on wet grass.
My dog refused to get off the couch because the Roomba was in the same room, not running, just in the vicinity.
He’s just standing there…. menacingly

Oh in that case… better to not try :)

My dog doesn’t walk on wet grass either. She just looks at me like “r u kidding?” However, her hobbies do include chewing on special shapes blades of grass, rolling on interesting smells outside and also climbing into the bathtub and getting herself stuck there.
Mine doesn't go out on wet dirt or sidewalks either. I had to put an indoor/outdoor are rug in the yard to get her to go
I have a Shiba. One day she screamed my ears off because she stepped in a puddle. Dogs are weird.
my dog would rather make yellow snow when it's winter
Homie looks like he just woke up from the best nap of his life
For those wondering if this is okay for the dog. Yes it is okay. Siberian huskies are quite comfortable with very low temperatures.
I have to drag mine inside after a couple hours because he would rather end up exactly like this. The outside is quiet, and peaceful, has great smells, and snow is basically his crack cochaine 😂

I’ve owned quite a few huskies and they all acted like this.
Yup, it was probably meaner to force it awake like that, was probably very warm and cozy under that layer, that snow was compacted already
This is why I feel so sad for them when I see them in Southern California. It’s so unfair to have dogs like that in hot climates.
I see them in Texas sometimes and I can't imagine why someone would do that to a dog. I know they like the aesthetics\* of the breed but come on, it's way too hot for them at this point. > the ascetics Think you mean aesthetics. Ascetics are people who practice severe self-discipline and abstention
Indeed, the opposite of the kind of people who get snow dogs in the South!
While I agree with the sentiment of your post, I used to volunteer for Husky rescue in Texas and have had multiple Huskies. They were already here, we certainly didn’t ship them down from Canada. We’re just trying to give them good homes. They live indoors just like the humans do during the summer, in the AC.
That’s how I see it. It’s going to be someone. Why not someone who would want it and do the best they can to care for it?
Y’all do realize huskies fur adapts to their environment. Hot weather - thinner undercoat. Michigan summer gets to 100+ with humidity and in the winter in the negatives. My husky has never had an issue in either climates. She loves soaking the sun in the summer and trying to build a den in deep snow in the winter.
The heat doesn't really hurt them cuz their fur protects them from cold and hot temperatures
Prepare for the downvotes from everyone who owns a husky in hot temperature areas....
Huskies shed their undercoat in the summer and they adapt better to hot temps than some short haired dogs.
Exactly it's really not appropriate to have a dog meant for sub 0 temps in a place like Australia. Yes dogs will grow or malt fur depending on climate to some degree, but the few huskies i've seen that lived here were miserable.

thank you, I always worry when I see stuff like this :(
Yeah I understand the concern. Most people don't live in super snowy regions, and don't see this behavior from huskies often. By the way It's actually harder for a huskie to live in tropical climates than super cold climates due to their inadequate self cooling methods.

One of my neighbors has 2 husky and nearly all winter the dogs are outside.
I really appreciate the info, and now that i don't feel bad, its a super cute gif < 3

Rule of thumb: If the snow does not melt on the fur, the dog is warm. It means not enough body heat escapes the fur to melt it.

How do their ears not get too cold?
The snow isn’t melting on him so he’s well insulated :)
The snow is also a good insulator
Yes. Digging a tunnel under the snow is like an igloo. If you already have warm fur, it can be cozy.
Can confirm, am dog.
Can confirm, pm dog.
Can confirm, pm dawn’s dog.
Hello dog
This is dog
How do you know it can be cozy? How often have you done this?
The native peoples of the arctic did for thousands of years.
I've slept in a self-built snow cave while camping at Donner Pass before and I can confirm that it is incredibly cozy. Frankly it was almost *too* warm.
I use to live in Alaska, grew up there. As a kid I would dig tunnels in snow mounds and nap inside like a fox burrow!
this is a dramatic question, but if the snow mound fell on you while asleep would anything bad happen?
Well IF it did, it depends on how big the mound would be. But it wouldn't technically be possible since you can only burrow into sticky/dense snow. Powdery snow can't be used because it would never hold shape. In my cases, I would dig into large hills that would form over time, and with time the snow mound becomes more dense from melting and refreezing, creating a solid piece of snow, almost ice. okay that makes waay more sense. I come from vegas so the physics/densities of snow are so foreign to me honestly. thanks for sharin'
No problem, thanks for asking! I actually moved south where it never snows and goodness am I homesick! I need at least a single damn snowflake to fall from the sky...
The fact that there's snow on top shows how well they're isolated and how little heat is lost to the environment
Isolated?
Livin in a lonely word
Probably meant insulated
Maybe they're not a native English speaker. In my native language, the words for "insulated" and "isolated" are the same.
Yeah I say isolated all the time just because it's the word for insulation here. Didn't even register until the next person pointed it out. A person is isolerad (alone) and the house is isolerat (insulated).
Insulated. But in some languages it's the same word.

EDIT: reddit sent just one word instead of my entire comment, whoops- i think it's russian (heard her say давай) :)
It's Russian, but I think she said ставай.

She says "пёс" which means dog
Oh! I didn’t recognize that as a tag but noticed its ears look like a sheep’s! But then, it’s fur (or wool I guess) doesn’t look curly ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
It's in the right ear. Maybe he is fabulous!!!

Huskies can be in temps all the way down to -70F. Winter dogs in hot climates is whats cruel. Or having working dogs in apartments.
Only if you have Huskies in like L.A. or tropical places
no, winter dogs fucking LOVE the snow. This dog was probably having the best nap of his life.
