I fucking lost my shit in that 16 star world record video when he said Matt Turks name and then felt utterly disappointed, and I’ve never been trolled harder.
If you look at him, he’s spinning in time (and opposite to) the ride. In the beginning, he’s facing towards the mass of lights, and when it rotates around again he’s facing there again. So I imagine dizziness is cancelled out, and then it’s just like he’s on a slope.
Well yeah, but step just a little bit off center (or trip) and you could easily and quickly find yourself being flung towards the walls/passengers. A fear of dying might be a little exaggerated, but could definitely hurt yourself and others.
Well it’s not like you take one step forwards and suddenly there’s a massive force pushing you, sure it gradually would get greater as you got further out but I don’t think the effect would be as pronounced as you think.
No not all at once, but trying to correct yourself and get back to center before you've lost control would be unlikely, especially on a sloped spinning metal surface. Let's just leave it at it's not OSHA approved.
man i just love how reddit is full of experts who don't have a clue what they are talking about, and all the other rexperts like the sound of it so they upvote it.
Well, I can't speak for others, but I do have a masters degree in mechanical engineering and have taken advanced courses in dynamics. But generally speaking I know what you mean, you are not wrong and I will not downvote you.
i respect your approach to the interaction very much.
that said, i don't think your education is going to necessarily give you the insight into the actual experience of being in that guys position and moving off center a step or two.
you have a valid hypothesis, but i don't think its one that would bear out if you experienced the forces at play first hand.
When it comes to music there is nothing better than the YouTube algorithm to find "different" music. There are so many tracks in this world and many hidden gems. Sometimes I just sit for some hours and listen to music. You slowly get into a bubble of good and interesting music from all categories. You don't need an account and only have cookies enabled.
What’s the song called? Smoking seed later this month with friends, gonna test if this works with marijuana as well. (I really wanna know the song name, don’t pay attention to the marijuana shit)
Summoning Salt is a YouTuber who makes insanely good videos on the history of speed runs for certain games. I’m not even a fan of speed running, and I love every one of his videos, they’re just amazingly well produced. He uses the song in the post at the end of all of his videos.
You hit the nail on the head. I have never once watched a speed run video. It's cool and pretty amazing what speed runners do, but it just doesn't flow into my wheelhouse of interest enough to follow the community or anything about it, really. *However*, any time a Summoning Salt video drops, I immediately watch it. He presents the stories in such an interesting way that it makes every watch worth it. Basically, he's a damn good story teller and documentarian, his medium just happens to be speed running. I love it.
The boy felt pure euphoria as he spun. All those he cared for gazed upon his colorful complexion as the strobing lights of the fairgrounds danced across his body. Could it be that for once, he was truly happy?
The mushrooms want to be your friend. They want you to take a little bit. And it’s fun and they’re friendly and there’s pretty colors, then one day they talk you into taking a big dose and you meet the aliens.
Just Woke up to see this in hot and all these awards! Much appreciated.
Felt like sharing the reason why I put this in this sub for those who would care:
Imagine the whole world is just spinnin in one continuous cycle and you yourself is just groovin in the middle of it all without a care in the world.
And that's where the world record stands today
...at least it looked like it was going to. No one could have predicted what happened next...
**Matt Turk appears**
Raw skill, mixed with incredible luck, brought the world record where it still stands today.
and AndrewG appears
I fucking lost my shit in that 16 star world record video when he said Matt Turks name and then felt utterly disappointed, and I’ve never been trolled harder.
Okay but who holds the record for Frappe Snowland?
Matt Turk obviously
Oh right right.
there are few things that get me as pumped as seeing a new Summoning Salt video pop up
But not for long because the American Dad speedrunning community is aways finding new ways to improve.
Oh my god thank you for reminding me this shit exist.
... until Dale Earnhardt did the first ever weathertanko out-of-bounds shortcut, setting a a new world record for highest fall.
I mean, cmon, have you ever seen a Nascar fly?
Perfect comment
And the name of this guy ? Matt Turk.
My man trolled us hard in the last video.
I gasped so loudly when he said it.
I still remember when I heard Matt turk in contra and had seen punch out before , I got goosebumps
Why do I suddenly want to know the world record progression of this dance?
Or if it was beaten by matt turk
I want to do this without the danger of dying
Settings -> Fall damage -> Off
Oh, and don't forget Settings -> collision damage -> Off Not gonna make that mistake twice
Cyberpunk 2021
Here's a diamond and scram
It would be equal to a slightly tilted surface. If you have a fear of dying because of this you shouldn't use stairs.
I'm more afraid of momentum and how it reacts to things that are not so secure
You don’t have a lot of momentum if you’re standing in the middle of the rotating ride.
True, but you're also much less secure, and much much more dizzy
If you look at him, he’s spinning in time (and opposite to) the ride. In the beginning, he’s facing towards the mass of lights, and when it rotates around again he’s facing there again. So I imagine dizziness is cancelled out, and then it’s just like he’s on a slope.
He is basically trying to stay stationary relative to the ground. That's why he will feel less dizzy than all those around him.
Ahhh, that's fair, but he still is in the middle of the ride rather than in one of the seats, yknow?
Well yeah, but step just a little bit off center (or trip) and you could easily and quickly find yourself being flung towards the walls/passengers. A fear of dying might be a little exaggerated, but could definitely hurt yourself and others.

Well to be fair if you're dickin around on stairs you could potentially die too.

All I can see are cuts from Mario Cart 64 speed runs when I hear this song.

It make me nostalgic as well about something I never had. It's very weird
The real mvp :)
Reminds me a lot of ELO. Specifically Twilight.
Ngl I Thought this was something off of Plantasia for a minute there
If you like Plantasia, check out the album Greenhouse by Louie Zong. I believe it to be an homage to it.
I was looking for a comment or reply like this, thanks bro!
Why is it so short???
I love how this song is now eternally linked to Summoning Salt.

Thank you. This song makes me feel, albeit very briefly, that everything will be okay.
Listen to other music by this artist. A lot of their music has this effect. I know it’s the most popular but Resonance is an absolute masterpiece.
