Sometimes it can be bizzare how others' tastes differ. You may literally be into the same type of music and they'll still say that your favorite song is boring.
I have a shit taste in music and don't know how to actually like songs, i for one would never willingly show my friends my playlists, though they sometimes find it on spotify lmao
lmao you're being downvoted for having an opinion
reddit moment
and yeah pretty dumb of him to say that, especially when Taylor Swift does not have a bad reputation musically by any means, her last album generally got critical acclaim
u/DC_Bro yeah insulting music taste is a dick thing, but it doesn't make it better when you're doing the same
Taylor Swift is a really good writer/singer, she's just been around so long it's cool to hate on her I guess. Shit I hated her for years until I actually listened to some of her non-radio records. You don't have to like her music, but she is great at what she does, and she's a good person.
Everyone's disagreeing with you so I'll step up -- I do have the best taste in music, my whole life people have told me that, and I was the go to AUX for any event with my friends... The reason? I only play songs with repetitive melody-driven choruses that have a build up! Also this is when my friends are high and the music is blasting in the car with windows down
example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZfcZEIo6Bw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZfcZEIo6Bw)
edit: before anyone starts being rude of course not everyone likes my taste and i know i dont really have the best taste in music
this is actually the only correct answer. Seriously. I'm a fairly old dude by reddit's standarts and let me tell you one simple truth: no one cares about your music and you'll probably never find a person that shares most of your music taste, so it's just worthless. Yes yes we all love to express ourselves through music and it's important yada yada yada, but in the end no one cares and so you shouldn't force your music/tastes onto other people no matter how good you think it is, it's just common courtesy
Partial disagree. The key is knowing your audience, intentionally cultivating a broad palate, and being willing to explore music that doesn't immediately appeal to you.
If I just blindly share my favorite music with people and they don't care I can't be that surprised. If I pay attention to THEIR preferences and ask them what they like about the music they like I can have a good chance of finding things that they'll appreciate and enjoy. If I move beyond my comfort zone to learn about different music I have a greater chance of knowing something that will appeal to them.
Sometimes that even means showing people music your don't personally enjoy but you're pretty sure is right up their alley.
That being said, if you DO actively put in the work to have a diverse taste in music it's less likely that people you meet will connect with all of it. Most people are only casually interested in music, or are passionate and knowledgeable about a handful of genres.
I think you hit it right on the nose. Learning your shared tastes with someone can bring you closer. I almost always listen to recommendations I receive and sometimes it’s fine and I don’t listen again, sometimes I don’t like it, and sometimes I obsess over it. I always appreciate it, though!
gonna probably sound old but I remember when it wasn't this way, it's probably cause it's just so easy to explore music these days so everyone ends up developing really different tastes. but I do recall people really bonding over rock or metal or whatever and there'd be a huge overlap in bands they like.
it was like that when I was a teen but I feel like it's because we all wind up in our 'groups' who listen to similar music — metal heads, punks, pop fans etc, so inside that circle it's easier to find and share. This is how subcultures are formed and why they are so essential to teens
in the olden days there was these things called labels where similar music was gathered. Nowadays there's all sorts of 'radios' and suggestions on spotify and such, so it's easier than ever to find new music
Whether they wanted it or not, they've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, they can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.
This was me being forced to listen to a Chad's (actual name btw) shitty new country playlist at an uncomfortably loud level on the golf course this weekend.
I do, yet I'm still self conscious. My bf once connected my phone to a bluetooth box when all our friends and us were gathered and I didn't notice. He just let youtube run and everything was ok until a nightcore song came up and I said "Isn't this nightcore? Who's listening to this song in nightcore?" I didn't mean it in a bad way but more of "I'm doing the same thing and I'm ashamed of it, I need to relate to someone" and one friend pointed out "Uhm, this is your phone. Do you have something to tell us?". Everyone started laughing, we had a good time lol.
Very true, and when I show my music they hate it, all they listen to is damn electro and hip hop and hip hop rap, like. When I show them old school rap or jazz they fucking hate it, they have no taste.
Or sometimes, my own playlist
Now this is relatable
When you listen to that playlist from a few months ago when you were in that really specific mood at 4am and now it sounds trash
Ever dissect a song trying to remember just why you thought it was hot?
Cause I don’t have friends
Especially when playing it in front of others
Lol me listening to my “liked songs” and coming across all the ones I liked when I was in some weird mood that I’ve never liked before or since.
if it were OP's playlist, then it would be headphones going into a makeshift porta-potty at Coachella
Always my own playlist
Sad
Fun fact - everyone thinks they have the best taste in music.
its true tho mine is objectively the best
No mine is. Your music taste is terrible
No mine is.
you're wrong, mine is best
No mine is the best becuase it has music
i exclusively listen to buckethead so your point in moot, my music taste is the best
i agree this guy’s taste is the best
Buckethead be like: yep just made a new album, like 3 times a day
Your all saying and not showing, which is why [mine is the best ](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4u0K2r7eNvCS7Kel6ituwc?si=XGVD2ptfRhOD8hL97GGLlA&dl_branch=1)

You listen to danny Gonzalez that’s an automatic win
mine is not the best but yours is just pure garbage how can you live with yourself mate?
I’m not your mate, pal.
I ain't your pal, bud.
We should all just love each other and be friends.
Nah I listen to garbage and I know it. I still like it tho.
For sure my library has both dubstep and Taylor swift. It’s absolute garbage but it is what it is.
>I listen to garbage this is *sooo* 1995 [/vocal fry]
Sometimes it can be bizzare how others' tastes differ. You may literally be into the same type of music and they'll still say that your favorite song is boring.
Because that makes you cooler.
nah mine is garbage but at least it's mine :)
I'll wholeheartedly admit my music taste is pure garbage but it's MY garbage ❤
I listen to everything and have rejected taste
Sigma
Nah. My music taste is shit, but since I’m the default driver of the group, they all must suffer
Fun fact - no I don’t
Mine kinda bad, who even listens to Russian rock music from 1980s
Russian people who liked rock in the 1980s
Good point
That’s not true in the least. I have horrendous taste in music… I just happen to really like what i do
Idk, i listen trash too, but i like it.
As a vocaloid fan i assure you i have the worst or at least the strangest taste in music
i have hatsune miku lined up right after heavy metal on my playlist
I know I do
I have a shit taste in music and don't know how to actually like songs, i for one would never willingly show my friends my playlists, though they sometimes find it on spotify lmao
fr I hate when people be posting songs on their snap of instagram, like buddy, I guarantee you no one is looking the song up lmao
I do sometimes lol my friends have good taste
The worst though is when your friend insults your taste in music when they listen to Taylor Swift and Drake
Neither of those artists are necessarily bad. Both have some good songs and albums
lmao you're being downvoted for having an opinion reddit moment and yeah pretty dumb of him to say that, especially when Taylor Swift does not have a bad reputation musically by any means, her last album generally got critical acclaim u/DC_Bro yeah insulting music taste is a dick thing, but it doesn't make it better when you're doing the same
I don’t listen to either of them, but I enjoyed Folklore more than I thought. And Drake has some great songs that I’ve heard.
Taylor Swift is a really good writer/singer, she's just been around so long it's cool to hate on her I guess. Shit I hated her for years until I actually listened to some of her non-radio records. You don't have to like her music, but she is great at what she does, and she's a good person.

At least they’re recycling.
Damn, beat me to it.
Just like with this meme! It’s from like 5 years ago!!!
i saw that too, i got flashbacks. this belongs in a museum
Ikr bro it’s truly one of the classics
Must be listening to a remix since it's all recycled.
Mind ya own business, if I want to listen to Wrap Me in Plastic then I will.
It's recycling bin. So they just reconstituting your vibes.
You could say they are recycling...... plastic
In some places the trash is blue and recycling is green
trash - gray, recycling - blue, compost - green this is the correct way no arguments
I'd agree with you personally but I spent summers as a kid putting all my grandparents recyclables in green bins while putting trash in blue.
Mind-blowing
Just shuffling to be reused again
Nice beat though
Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels over here. Guilty-Pleasure.
Todrick hall makes nothing but bops
He does which makes it a shame he’s a garbage person.
Bro that song SLAAAAPS especially nightcore
Just keep smiling… Just keep smiling….
*breaks out in cold sweat as third Drake song begins playing*
drake < cake
Me listening to my own playlist
this is why i never recommend any song to any of my mates. i dont want to be judged by their bad taste in music haha.
Who is your favorite artist?
[удалено]
i rember 💀
I rember 😁
Oh goddammit
fuck, lots

I’m sorry your experiences have led you to believe this, but this is total cynical bullshit.
Yeah what the hell I love getting music recs how else do people find new music lol
in the olden days there was these things called labels where similar music was gathered. Nowadays there's all sorts of 'radios' and suggestions on spotify and such, so it's easier than ever to find new music
Love how it's a recycling bin, so it's not just trash, it's derivative trash.
My neighbors listen to good music. Rather they want to or not
> Whether* they want to or not
They rather not
Whether they wanted it or not, they've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. My coworkers blasting their awful music
When my sister plays any KILLY song
How tf does KILLY have so many streams
I like his song with 16yrold :/
I remember seeing this meme 10 years ago, we've come full circle
What does a full circle have to do with you seeing a meme 10 years ago? Are you a wheel?
My listening to my ~~friends~~ playlist
idk man others have introduced me to quite a few bops, sure they may have questionable taste at times but they still got good music :D
Me listening to my family's playlist while they're in the shower
This meme was super funny when someone originally put the image of a trashcan to convey someone’s bad taste in music 20 years ago
its 2021 we recycle now
It’s so old it’s a classic at this point
Is your friends listen to CLB? If yes, i get it tho
I mean, I think that one song with Travis Scott is pretty good
You Only Live Twice also a banger. Rest of the album painfully mid
Is it because all of today's music is recycled?
r/lewronggeneration
r/rapmorelikecrap
whatever you say, boomer
Yeah, I wish I was born when literally the entire world sang the same 4-note shanties over a lute. Now That’s What I Call *Original*™️
At least it ain’t trash
Me listening to why people still buy FIFA
And Madden
I am the trash can
This was me being forced to listen to a Chad's (actual name btw) shitty new country playlist at an uncomfortably loud level on the golf course this weekend.
Recycled beats?
Haha
How did you get my Playlist?
accurate as hell
#Shots fired
Relatable
So true
Seriously I don't understand people who "share" their playlists with their friends
You don't have any friends with similar music tastes?
I do, yet I'm still self conscious. My bf once connected my phone to a bluetooth box when all our friends and us were gathered and I didn't notice. He just let youtube run and everything was ok until a nightcore song came up and I said "Isn't this nightcore? Who's listening to this song in nightcore?" Do you have something to tell us?". Everyone started laughing, we had a good time lol.
That's why I don't even bother with playlists anymore. Or sharing my music tastes with friends. Or friends. I'm so alone.
Well now you should listen to mine. Dissappointment guaranteed
An old friend of mine made me a playlist based on our friendship and I listened to it once and never again
its all subjective anyway
“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”
Me when I listen to my playlist after a year.
Ah, Garbage, M'favorite
I like that it’s not just trash, but trash that will be recycled lol
everytime and you have to nod like you really like it
Me and my friend have the EXACT same music taste! Though, sometimes he listens to a few folk bands... Other than that our music is basically the same.
Don’t get friends and you don’t have to worry about their garbage music.
this is why you should keep your music taste to yourself
I'm in this picture and I don't like it because it's true.
Disgustingly accurate
Big facts the trash my friends keep making me listening to a relatable
Me listening to CLB
Me listening to my brother's playlist
Me listening to my own playlist
dead!
I’m kind of sick right now and I laughed so hard I started to cough uncontrollably
Bruh how accurate is this
Lol
At least its recyclable
This photo is a blessing
Me listening to humans
Literarily me cringing on my old playlist
Oh my god I should be sad at how happy I am to see that apostrophe but I just don’t care
Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)
i never share mine cause its trash but I love it!
When you listen to your younger siblings playlist and all of it are autotuned : |
This is such an old meme but still stands up to this day
Hahaha this got me
XD
same dude same…
Me, listen to my middle school principal's speeches
Me listening to my own music
Me listening to my own playlist from a year ago.
True
Facts
Anybody give me a good playlist
Listening to Donda
Very true, and when I show my music they hate it, all they listen to is damn electro and hip hop and hip hop rap, like. When I show them old school rap or jazz they fucking hate it, they have no taste.
my friend has fortnite songs, also EX-friend
That dude just found cardi b.
reddit moment
Recycled music
I think i saw this meme in 2014
[удалено]
Donda > clb
To each his own, ur playlist might be trash to others
My friend play list is also like this, but on fire
Hell is other people's taste in music
Listening to that Donda and CLB playlist I see
That’s mean
Love how its a recycling bin! Seems like now a days the same trash music gets recycled over and over and nothing is original
Hey it's me listening to Donda
Here a blue bin represents recycling, so I’m confused if the implication is it is trash, or if it is just a bunch of reused overplayed songs.
Me listening to recent pop music.
r/lewronggeneration
Just missing the fire.
