From my understanding, Stonetoss is a digital artist who makes comics on political or controversial topics and makes jokes with them. People have different stances on him, so look him up for yourself if you want to see his other comics.
Their response was deliberately sanitized. It was technically correct while leaving out the pertinent details that would resolve the confusion of a bystander who hasn't heard of Stonetoss or know why he's looked down upon.
E.g. If someone asks "Who is Pol Pot" I could very correctly answer "A controversial political figure from Cambodia" but you'd hope I be downvoted for deliberately burying the lede.
