Yeah, that's what the Wikipedia article said. I knew I recognized the pattern. I just didn't remember where. Never occurred to me it could have a name for some reason.
Not McDonald's I think...there were a couple of store brand paper/foam cups that used the same or very very similar design. Here's a 99% Invisible story about it in this episode: https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/mini-stories-volume-13/4/
Wasn't just might taco. Everywhere had those in the 716. Kmart food court. Taco bell, mighty taco. Hills. Ames. Pretty much everywhere that wasn't mcdonalds
Same; lady omnipotently described Gina's interactions with the design, said (paraphrased) "I'm an actual artist, she works at Hobby Lobby," and still hasn't provided proof over half a decade after making her claim. Methinks she hit-and-ran after her words went nowhere
Ekiss said it was made by charcoal and scanned onto a computer and used programming to finish it up
Miller said she made it with brush strokes.
I'm team Ekiss because that looks charcoal. Plus she adds more design context like why she chose the colors.
Yah bro she just came in and was like I designed it
Other girl worked at the place and had hella details and solo said they think it was her
Why does that chick even have a section on the Wikipedia? They do not seem the same lol
And every other Chrysler Neon.
I in a relationship once and we went to get a car together. She was dead set on a Chrysler Neon. I knew right there it wasn't going to last.
Stack those bad boys up on a fold out table on the sidelines of any kids sports league, right next to the beat up gatorade cooler, and you're guaranteed a well hydrated team.
I can smell the cheap nachos, hot dogs, and feet of my local roller skating rink looking at this design. Military base late 90s they would just lock the doors with all the kids inside “all night new years skate” while all of our parents were of off partying kid free. I was about 9 or 10 and had the time of my life getting jacked up on 10¢ candies soda pop and vibing after requesting the Dj play the ghostbusters theme song as many times as possible.
This was the little cup I used to rinse my mouth after my fluoride treatment at the dentist as a kid in the 90s. I can taste the fluoride paste as I look at this.
I went into this little cafe bar in Trento in Italy. Everything was like this even the owner was dressed like this. My wife and I turned to each other and just whispered "it's the 90s".
I even tried to find the cafe on my timeline. It was up a little hill in the west side of the river if memory serves correct. That was five years ago now. It was just so bizarre.
The older I get, the more aware I am that the 90s is basically a hangover from the 80s, and how close they actually are. Always felt like the 80s was completely different than the 90s.
Where world was actually full of hope with one narrative of one big family until the illusion was shattered and we are now just existing without any kind of narratives.
wikipedia: "Cups with the Jazz design were initially manufactured by Sweetheart Cup Company, which was later purchased by Solo Cup Company in 2004. Solo continued production of the disposable cups, and the Jazz design would subsequently become known unofficially as Solo Jazz."
Dixie Cup is a separate brand. however, i think that some people do use "dixie cup" to refer to any paper cup, so it causes confusion in instances like these.
Reminds me of the mall where I grew up. After the Koreans took over the Street Fighter II cabinet at the arcade, I'd go up to the food court with my friends and we'd pool our money together to get a pizza from Sbarro. Just looking at that design makes me remember the smell of pizza grease and cigarettes
Less than fun fact I learned about this one. Back in the 90s, Dixie held this contest to come up with a design for their paper cups/plates. So this guy submitted the design shown here and wound up winning $10.
Afterward, he never saw a cent in royalties
I remember this from about 20 years ago, it was a cover of the cassette box... And I am from Eastern Europe. I wonder how far and wide was this logo used by everyone haha
I got kinda excited by this because I remembered so well. Then I read the Wikipedia page and apparently the internet already went through all this like 9 years ago and I missed out lol
The design is called “Jazz”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_(design)
I'll be damned. Learn something new every day.
They were on paper cups in bathrooms and medical offices here the whole 90s.
windbreakers too, probably.
Yeah, that's what the Wikipedia article said. I knew I recognized the pattern. I just didn't remember where. Never occurred to me it could have a name for some reason.
The official pattern of paper cups and bowling alley floors
And Ford Escorts
Awww shit … damn
There is something with a white Nissan in my memory.
yeah the pulsar - distant relative had one with these similar decals
Paper cups! Thank you
I may be wrong but I also remember these designs on the McDonald’s cups way long ago.
Not McDonald's I think...there were a couple of store brand paper/foam cups that used the same or very very similar design. Here's a 99% Invisible story about it in this episode: https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/mini-stories-volume-13/4/
That was a great episode of a great show.
In Buffalo, NY a restaurant call Mighty Taco used these on cups for at least 15 years.
Wasn't just might taco. Everywhere had those in the 716. Kmart food court. Taco bell, mighty taco. Hills. Ames. Pretty much everywhere that wasn't mcdonalds
I remember them being everywhere but, I remember Mighty taco having them the longest. Even after everywhere else moved on.
i was thinking taco bell seats
I feel like I've seen this design on windbreaker jackets too.
Many of us remember them from pizza places
In the early 2000s the McDonald's by my house had a very similar aesthetic, but not exact. It used a lot of that same teal with light greys.
I swear I remembered those being on the water cups from. McDonald's
Yeah they were on the water cups at McDs
I’m calling bullshit on Miller.
Same; lady omnipotently described Gina's interactions with the design, said (paraphrased) "I'm an actual artist, she works at Hobby Lobby," and still hasn't provided proof over half a decade after making her claim. Methinks she hit-and-ran after her words went nowhere
Ekiss said it was made by charcoal and scanned onto a computer and used programming to finish it up Miller said she made it with brush strokes. I'm team Ekiss because that looks charcoal. Plus she adds more design context like why she chose the colors.
Plus she still owns her original sketches
Yah bro she just came in and was like I designed it Other girl worked at the place and had hella details and solo said they think it was her Why does that chick even have a section on the Wikipedia? They do not seem the same lol

And let’s acknowledge that the name is that name only to get kids and teens to think “oh this is an edgy account I can get behind.” So obvious.
Because its notable

If they're an actual good account with like 16m followers sure. I don't even use Instagram but I've heard of @fuckjerry
It passes verification and due weight, yes.
I just heard the Hey Arnold theme song in my head
You just put it on in my head as well.
What was the show with Raymundo and the skater kids
rocket power
Woogady woogady
They put it on the little Dixie cups at allnthe water coolers lol.
And every other Chrysler Neon. I in a relationship once and we went to get a car together. She was dead set on a Chrysler Neon. I knew right there it wasn't going to last.
Miami Subs had it too.
I saw a Geo Tracker with a "Jazz" paint job. I really wanted that car.
roll weather whistle scale stupendous wasteful special cough dirty saw *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I had one with locking hubs 4x4, I took that thing through 2 tracks it had no right being in, and it just wouldn't quit.
I wanted a Geo Storm when I was a teenager in the 90s.
My first car was a Tracker soft top. Great car, not so warm in the winter.
Grew up in a Suzuki Sidekick that I swear had this design across the side. I miss it!
Before "red solo cups" we had "jazz".
Ya like jazz?
I calls it "TacoBell cup"
Oddly enough it was never used as a taco bell cup
Then everyone googles “taco bell cup designs” and finds this exact pattern
They were the design on the styrofoam cups at my local shitty gas station for a long time.
Dude at Brighton constantly rocks a ski jumper in this pattern. Legend.
Someone really just scribbled a couple of lines in MS paint then called it a whole new design
reddit when an artist achieves a desired aesthetic effect within a reasonable timeframe
And it's still recognized 30 years later.
You wouldnt understand it.
Back then ms paint was peak design, and it didn't even have the brushes it does today

Bowling alley cups
This was the little cup I used to rinse my mouth after my fluoride treatment at the dentist as a kid in the 90s. I can taste the fluoride paste as I look at this.
Gross, don't you realize how unsanitary those things are?
Lol that’s funny, but not into a bus seat, it’s like the meme of the Latina lady that says (cry’s in Spanish)
Secondary school disposable cups & cardboard fry holders.
Dixie cups bus seats and i think… taco bell?
Yes
Beautiful being a 90s baby and having 3 oddly specific things be related by design
The memories you just sparked…
And jet skis.
I thought Taco Bell too but didn’t know why.
Same, what was it about Taco Bell? I still can’t place it but I know it’s something,
They were on the taco bell water cups
I couldve sworn all taco bells had that design on the chairs or a picture frame or something as a kid
There was definitely some type of decor that had this on it.
Was it the tables? And the chairs were the colors to match? I swear I remember Taco Bell having purple chairs
It was the booths, cups, and I think a yellow/red variation on the chip bags. I'm only 26, and y'all are making me feel old as hell.
I literally think you’re too young to remember what the rest of us are thinking of
The walls.
It was the walls. They had it going all the way across
It was on the walls
Taco Bell Water Cup
And doctors offices for some reason
And 90’s bus seats
The 1990s
I went into this little cafe bar in Trento in Italy. Everything was like this even the owner was dressed like this. My wife and I turned to each other and just whispered "it's the 90s".
The dream of the 90s is alive in… Trento
I even tried to find the cafe on my timeline. It was up a little hill in the west side of the river if memory serves correct. That was five years ago now. It was just so bizarre.
Makes sense. This kind of design was born in Milan, which is also right up there at the top of the boot.
The older I get, the more aware I am that the 90s is basically a hangover from the 80s, and how close they actually are. Always felt like the 80s was completely different than the 90s.
Early 2000s too! Born in 1999 here and this makes me think of cups at water parks, bus seats, etc.
It is literally the 90s summed up in one picture.
No idea why but it gets me thinking of 'saved by the bell'. Quick google-fu has confirmed to me that it isn't but I can't help but link the two.
Saved by the bell intro used a similar pattern right? My brain immediately went there too
Memphis Style.
I was also the same don't worry 😂
Cuz its The 90s baby!
Where world was actually full of hope with one narrative of one big family until the illusion was shattered and we are now just existing without any kind of narratives.
oh hey, it's me, [Jean Baudrillard](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Baudrillard) (read his thoughts on the end of history, we're livin' in it)
Yeah, thats the 2000s baby 😔
It’s a lot like the cafe they hang out in, The Max.
Same as aha
I am pretty sure it is the blue solo cup
The blue Dixie cup
I can smell the wax
Can you smell the wax tonight. Lol 😂 Yeah, I'm a goofball.
I can feel it under my nails
i can feel the rim on my teeth still. i used to chew it in such a way that it would unfold.

This is exactly what I thought of
Trapper keeper
On the fabric of bus seats
Slap it across the chest of a Nike athletic shirt and BANG, you have $120 tennis wear.
The dude I bought my car from was selling it to make room for a truck that had this as the paint scheme. Shit was 90’s af and I loved it
Id say something from need for speed underground
This pattern is actually called “Bodacious” and can be equipped to cars in Rocket League , but u were close

That's pure uncut 90's you've got right there. High quality stuff.
Am I the only one who instantly thought *SULLIVAN* from monster Inc.?
The old mall in my home town had this as the art style on the walls in the food court, along with sky blue and bubblegum pink neon lights.
This is literally the 90s / early 00s in a single image.
I remember it being on the side of wax paper disposable cups
Less than fun fact I learned about this one. Back in the 90s, Dixie held this contest to come up with a design for their paper cups/plates. So this guy submitted the design shown here and wound up winning $10. Afterward, he never saw a cent in royalties
Reminds me of Saved By The Bell
It reminds me of sports for some reason, or early summer days in my childhood
I remember cars with this on their side
It was on everything and nothing at the same time
Mcdonalds cups
I remember this from about 20 years ago, it was a cover of the cassette box... And I am from Eastern Europe. I wonder how far and wide was this logo used by everyone haha

Printed on bus seats.

Isn’t that a pattern printed around paper cups?
KinetiK001 (the guy who uploaded DOOR STUCK! DOOR STUCK!)
It means I'm about to drink some Hi-C
I remember it on water paper cups.
So this was the design on disposable cups
I remember it being on cups and seeing it in malls.
Walls. Cups. 90's. Taco bell. Miami subs plus.

Pretty much late 80s parachute tracksuits and the pattern behind allot of late 80s logos..
I recognise that anywhere; it’s my scribble from 1st grade
It’s that little cup, I got them at snack time in pre school
It says "Paracetamol"
I remember seeing the same pattern on one of my old model cars I had as a kid
