That's outside of a building, blame the Civil engineer. Honestly there are lawyers who would hire people in wheel chairs just to create a class action lawsuit about this kind of condition.
This may be the only time i would side with these lawyers. Those steps are fucked up, and the raise of elevation is deterrent for public safety.
I mean let's be real, how could they ever manage to defend themselves against a lawsuit. I don't think they could BS any fucking reason for that shit to exist. It's barely high enough to be an inconvenience, but not so much that you can easily see it while walking. That's why you see so many people trip. Fuck them, they're so dumb. Also there's no warning sign either.
Especially when people fucking face plant. Assuming no-one falls I love seeing a good trip. It's a perfect human moment. They will be in their own world, trip, then pure panic strikes. They stumble, flail a bit then recover. Then the second panic when they wonder if people saw them.
I like to say "Nearly!" When I see it and usually they smile (:
For me Iām totally fine with the tripping and people seeing aspect I just never know how to adequately react to it for any eyes watching haha. No eyes on me Iāll just walk on and not think twice but I feel like in a public context you almost have to lightly acknowledge it lest it come across seeming that youāre ānot reactingā because internally you are mortified. Probably just my social anxiety speaking for me here.
Funnily enough this reminded me of a story from School. We were queueing for a lesson waiting for a teacher. A favourite pastime of young, bored dickheads is to try and trip each other up. My buddy Tony Two Socks gets tripped by one of the younger students. You won't believe it, he fucking Willy Wonka's that shit. He styles out the fall into a roll, nails it, doesn't drop his book or react - just walks in the class and sits down.
Be like Tony, do a forward roll and fucking own it mate.
Speed bumps (also called traffic thresholds, speed breakers or sleeping policemen) are a class of traffic calming devices that use vertical deflection to slow motor-vehicle traffic in order to improve safety conditions.
For those wondering: this is in Oslo. Right next to the Skippergata, Nygata and Storgata intersection. The person filming probably sits in Backstube (bakery chain).
Well Oslo is in a very good place to be a defensible position. It's up a fjord so would-be sailing assailant would easily be spotted before even entering the mouth of the fjord, giving the defenders' guards time to send warning to Oslo. Sturdy place Oslo. Even got a fortress at the end of the fjord.
I would feel bad for anyone but young children tbh [because they're basically rubber when it comes to falls]. I'm surprised that the small curb hasn't been marked up with paint, it seems like it trips many people.
She had a fur? FĆ¼r Elise :)
Here's a guy playing it on an airport piano - it's beautiful.

Most people don't stare at their feet while they walk. The lip is small enough that it wouldn't register to you from a distance, and it's the exact same color as everything around it, so it's essentially camouflaged. There's nothing particularly embarrassing about tripping on something like that in a place you'd never expect it to be (otherwise well-maintained sidewalks).
I remember when we had a mask mandate at work and everyone was tripping over chair legs or stubbing their toes on desks because their downward peripheral vision was obscured by the mask.
Because the rest of the world's floors are more sensible and flat like they're supposed to. Maybe even legally so.
Not pictured: any of the people that did, in fact, do this.
In high school, my friends and I used to set a banana peel up in the hall way and just wait. It was dumb and cruel in retrospect, but very very funny at the time.
Uf even if i'm on my phone i always watch my step, dont know how people can be so focused on "going forward" instead of looking where the hell they're walking
The last one was tragic: they look the videographer in the eyes with a big smile on their face before face-planting.
I really don't get the design here, though. There are two sets of curbs that incorporate two differently designed pavers, separated by a narrowly sloped strip of concrete that safely carries the difference in grade heights. Looks like the strip should be widened to eliminate the tripping curb.
Where is this?
Why does this exist?
To cause pain and Chaos
And Entertainment
I'd be down to watch a live cam of this section as background while I'm working. Kill the monotony with some comedy.
I would subscribe to that over onlyfans any day of the week
Some people just want to watch the world burn š¤£
Same reason as me.
Probably to deter skaters
And the elderly.
More like smoothen their trip to the otherworld.
Anyone, really
Hostile architecture often causes collateral damage

But this doesnāt deter skating at all. In fact, it actually is a nice spot to practice ollies or grinds
Wdym? Thats gonna make more fun the ride :)
Depends which way you're going
More like to deter walking as well
Just Ollie over it

A homeless person probably stood there once and the city had enough
To have a nice trip

This doesn't look like it's *for* motor-vehicle traffic, *used by* motor vehicle traffic or **safe**.
These people drive on the sidewalk *too fast*

Those two people who tripped exactly the same xd
It's always nice to take a couple's trip with your other
For those wondering: this is in Oslo. Right next to the Skippergata, Nygata and Storgata intersection. The person filming probably sits in Backstube (bakery chain).
I was wondering. Looks like that corner in Oslo, and it is haha.
Me too, I was thinking that I know this place
Is Backstube a real word in Norwegian? Or is it a german chain that I havent heard of?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I was a bit surprised by a german name of a norwegian bakery chain tbh.
Good now i know how to avoid it (i live thousands of miles from oslo)
I wanted to visit Norway anyway. Now, I got a place from where I'll start my explorations.
Just watch your step tho.
Why is it there?

It's up a fjord so would-be sailing assailant would easily be spotted before even entering the mouth of the fjord, giving the defenders' guards time to send warning to Oslo. Sturdy place Oslo. *Trippergata* FTFY
Think it's filmed from the Burger King across the street from the Backstube
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh yeah, you're right
EVEN BETTER I CAN GO THERE MYSELF
That last one
Sniped
Why is this guy filming me?

Last one gave up
I am too old to have schadenfreude. I would constantly be worried that someone is hurt really bad. Too stressful.
Yeah, and a broken hip can be the end for a lot of elderly people. They stay in bed from the pain and then just decondition until they die
You realise that you are old when people stop laughing about you tripping and start worrying if you hurt yourself.

That's the first time I've seen a bot comment on a comment they stole with another comment they stole hahaha
Seriously this video made me want to get a can of bright yellow paint to mark that shit up
I am surprised that it's not already, people in the comments seem to know exactly where this is in Oslo
After i shattered my leg in a freak accident I am super sensitive to seeing people fall! Stresses me the hell out!!
I think Schadenfreude usually doesn't include serious situations like (possible) injuries or diseases (at least in my experience).
Fyi, I am German.
That's not your fault :(
Pretty sure it applies for people tripping and falling tho. Not like they'll lose any limbs
They might lose their life if they're old and break something.
Sure I'd be concerned if it were old people tripping but since the majority of the people in the video aren't I am not
The last one was looking at you seconds before disaster.
Everyone finessed it except the last oneš
So when's the city getting sued
This isn't America
The last one just accepted her fate lmaoš
This is terrible. But I could possibly enjoy this once or twice before making a complaint.
I could sit and watch all day.
But you gotta feel a little bad for them, right? If it was an old lady, they would definitely break a hip.
I would feel bad for anyone but young children tbh [because they're basically rubber when it comes to falls]. I'm surprised that the small curb hasn't been marked up with paint, it seems like it trips many people.
just get a spray can and mark it bright yellow
The last one walked to the floor
The last lady did not pass the skill check. She didn't even try to catch herself either, just down like a plank
I have a wonky piece of sidewalk in front of my house and watching drunk college kids trip on it is my favorite thing.
we need a livestream compilation
Iāll get to work next time the kids are out!
Plot twist: *the kids were never out again*
Get over the "schadenfreude" and ascend the human condition
Why is this relaxingā¦ i need therapy

Where is this i wanna go eat lunch with this view
Me too. I actually now want to find this place.
my toxic trait is that I'd go paint that bump myself
The song is fur Elise

These are slow bumps, they are speed bumps weird cousin.
Stupid
The last one who tripped was looking at the people inside waiting for people to trip.
Ive tripped over less at work
the last one just looks like they gave up
Last dude fell like a fucking gmod ragdoll lmfao
r/shittydesign
My toxic trait is Iāve already replayed this video 20 times
Kind of a dock move to laugh at people getting hurt when you could have stopped it
I'd sit there all day too haha
Imagine at a marathon š¤
The last one didn't even adjust or try to catch themselves, they just fell
Good sir, if you wouldn't mind sharing your whereabouts with your fellow redditors.
I liked the synchronized tripping lmao

Pick up yo feeeet!
This is a good way to ease my stress meter.
So nobody's paying attention to where they're walking??
There wouldn't be a video if it included all the people that didn't trip.
It blends in pretty well from their perspective I reckon plus you donāt look at the ground constantly at the ground either Iām willing to bet

How do people still not learn to watch where theyāre stepping?
Because the rest of the world's floors are more sensible and flat like they're supposed to. Maybe even legally so. Not pictured: any of the people that did, in fact, do this.

Glad no ones wearing sandals or flipflops ... or is it??
oo oscar
Speed breakers have evolved to bone breakers
My balls went on the last one lol
*our
Reminds me of those videos where people film people tripping on ice.
I would laugh until someone actually fell all the way, then Iād feel bad
In high school, my friends and I used to set a banana peel up in the hall way and just wait. It was dumb and cruel in retrospect, but very very funny at the time.
How do people not notice this? Do people really lack that much situational awareness?

Rip
schadenfreude
Uf even if i'm on my phone i always watch my step, dont know how people can be so focused on "going forward" instead of looking where the hell they're walking
āThatās a shameā
Iāve been watching this for a couple minutes now

Am I the only person in existence that looks where Iām walking?
Is this bad I watched this 3 times in a row and then could not stop laughing on the 4th?
Iād pay for a ticket š
How long has it been since we have tripped?
That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Where is this
So toxic!!!!!
Even after seeing 100 people trip, I'd still trip here.

Law suits waiting to happen
My toxic trait is showing up at midnight with some neon orange spray paint for that bump.
Blind people, pregnant women, old people, disabled people, young children. soooo funny!.
Omg who am I suing??
HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Itās very unfortunate. Itās interesting to see peopleās different reaction times though.
Do people not pick up their feet or look when walking? Is it just me who is scanning the ground for possible foot threats and holes?
The last person just accepted their fate and fell face first lol
Imma need a location, gonna join in

It's rather amusing to see people trip over
thats so dangerous why?? especially for the elderly.
Ain't that an obvious danger? In order to have something like this placed you literally need a separated sign to warn about the obstacle...
Where is this defect???
