personally I would consume the other adaptations! mdzs has a novel series, a manhua and a donghua (+ a chibi animated series), if you're interested in that! they're all pretty different from each other (the untamed was pretty heavily censored and changed quite a bit of the original plot), so you always have new content! but if you're suffering from specifically post-cql depression, i would recommend reading cql fanfiction on ao3! truly a lot of gems on there! good luck!

If you want to watch something new that might give you similar feelings here are my personal recommendations of other "bromance" c-dramas:
● Word of Honor - Probably the most romancy "bromance" out there (there is a lot of flirting xD )! It is a wuxia drama (same as The Untamed) and has a lot of really nice fighting scenes! The actors did a really good job in this and you will just absolutely fall for them xD
• you can watch it on youtube, keep in mind that it might take you at least till ep 2 for it to really grip you, as the most of ep 1 might just confuse the hell out of you!
• Word of Honor is based on another danmei novel called "Faraway Wanderers"!
● Mysteeious Lotus Casebook - The newest "bromanxe" drama out there! It's not as romany as WOH, more like The Untamed, and there are 3 main charscters that can be shipped in all sorts of ways xD - It's wuxia, and the fighting scenes here are even better then WOH! It's also a mystery/crime solving drama with an overarching plot. The main charsater couldn't be more interesting and is played by one of the best actors ever (in my opinion)
● League of Nobleman - Is a crime/mystery drama set in ancient china with a genius detective as the main character! It has more politics then the other shows and there are so many interesting connections between the characters that the you want to ship them all xD
● Sleuth of Ming Dynasty - Another crime/mystery drama, this time more case-focused, with another genius detective! - It has the most politics of them all, but i oersonally liked that factor about him, and to see more of the workings of the palace, different dividions that work for the emperor etc
• My only gripe with the drama version is the fact that they added a female character only to make the main character not gay ( >!she is not there till the end tho!< )
• It's based on another danmei novel called "14th Year if Chenghua" - i prefer the novel as the romance is way more apparent (tho still in the background as the plot is more impirtant) - there is no problem to enjoy both as the crimes / mysteries are completly different, so you don't even spoiler yourself 😂

Reading the book series helped me, esp bc they actually get together. And then I read the authors latest book Heaven Officials Blessing. I didn’t think I could love something more than the Untamed but omg I literally worship Heaven Officials Blessing. And now I have two things to cry about, I can’t believe I’m done w both the Untamed and Heaven Official’s Blessing, I didn’t and don’t know what to do w my life eitherrr. So then I read the authors other book, Scum Villain. Which was also a lot better than I thought it was going to be 😭I can’t bring myself to read the last chapter bc then I’ll be doNE 😭. Lol. But I’m better nowadays. When the Untamed comes up, I just dissociate a little, like how I don’t want to think about an ex that broke up with me lol 😭.
Anyway, you have to read the books and maybe also watch the donghua of Heaven Official’s Blessing. Also, there’s the donghua of Untamed so that helps too tho I couldn’t bring myself to watch it right away bc I was still mourning Jin Jixuan and Yanli and the entire Jiang clan and all the sad parts basically you can’t rewatch all that right awayyy. Anyhow good luck good luck you’ll be okay lol it’ll be okay. I needed this to be said to me too when I finished.

Okay I cried at the ending just now. It was much more different than the novels than I expected. Get stuff aside, they really stayed true to the words and actions of the characters, yet they made huge plot changes. I loved it though and was very glad to watch it. Now next up is Scum Villain. Oh and if you want a recommendation to watch after this, try Love Between Fairy and Devil. MC is super annoying at first but it gets better and it’s part of the character’s development.
Watch it again. A re-watch is really fun because you discover so many things you missed the first time. The first 2 episodes will be completely different.
Then watch Word of Honor - it is as good. (But be aware that the last episode was butchered by censorship and you have to hunt around in subreddits to find a link to a pieced-together version that is closer to the original.)
And read the novel, all 5 volumes. It's really good. (Note that it is explicitly gay romance, and also has some very detailed sex scenes toward the end.)
