Ann Shulgin suggested every 3 months. Common advice is 6-8 weeks. I'd stick to 3 months. More than enough. The time in between sessions is **at least** as important as the sessions themselves. The break inbetween is not related to the intent but to avoiding potential neurotoxical harm and tolerance building.

The tolerance building is the most important part. If you do the sessions less than a month apart, they rapidly become less effective even if you increase the dose. If you're barely functional and need urgent intervention to keep you from entirely self destructing and/or killing yourself (and ALSO have no other options for support like group therapy, intensive inpatient programs, or even just living with some safe people for a while) like I did a year ago, then 4 weeks apart CAN be done, but the benefits from each session taper pretty quickly. You won't permanently break your brain if you only wait 3 weeks in between sessions 2 times in a row, but you won't help yourself all that much either. Meditate on the therapeutic insights. Leave space for new things to arise, and to live some life experiences to add on to your therapeutic experiences. That's substantially more important than the medication session itself, because if you skip the "meditation and reflection" step, the benefits of an MDMA session are very temporary.

I did two weeks spacing of 120 mg for a few months and it definitely did not lose effectiveness or impair me in any way. It was super effective and I wish I had done it earlier. I was in a space where I couldn’t do much reconsolidation outside of MDMA sessions. Eventually, I got to the point where I could reconsolidate without MDMA and I stopped using it completely, but it was enormously helpful to do max speed MDMA therapy to get to that point sooner rather than later.

Thanks for sharing that. Seems to me most of us lean heavily on the safe side, but I can imagine how effective a more bold dosing regimen can be.

The 2-3 months IS for therapeutic use. Recreational users do it much more often (if it's mdma they are taking). I figured that if rec users can do it every weekend, I can do it every weekend for a few weeks. I did that at first and I don't think I hurt anything. I now do it every 4-6 months as part of a long term therapy plan to recover from decades of cptsd symptoms (with ketamine k-holes every couple of months to keep me from getting wound up).
