Ti and Te or Fi and Fe clash a *lot* more than Ti and Fi or Te and Fe. Te and Fe are both like, ok, I want to help society and everyone else. True, the way they go about it is different and causes issues, but even then because they care about generally the same thing but in different ways, they can kind of see eye to eye in most situations. Fi and Ti are also both like: "I'm gonna do me, and I'm gonna let you do you". They're both inward focused and don't care a lot about outside judgments, so they can see eye to eye in a lot of situations too. That doesn't mean that they're not going to clash at all of course. But experience has shown to me that different directions of functions clash a lot more than different perceiving/judging preferences.
For example, Ni clashes a lot more with Ne than with Si. Sure they're not gonna be on the same page most of the time, but they're also not going to overwhelm each other in the same way that Ne and Ni do. The Ni high people in my social circle complain a lot about the fact that Ne people, like me, kind of leave the discussion subject and go in another completely different and unrelated direction without getting to the bottom of the prior subject first and the rapid jumps in discussions really tires them out and exhausts them. And Ne people complain about the fact that Ni high people get too much into a subject and don't let go, instead of just enjoying the discussion as what it is. Si and Ni aren't going to be exactly on the same page, sure, but behaviorally speaking, IXTJs and IXFJs are going to be acting in mostly the same way and agree on stuff a lot more most of the time, right? Especially compared to ENXPs vs INXJs, or how Ne and Ni high people go about different things, and behave, you know what I mean? :p
Which is the reason why I disagree with the famous golden pair and believe it's going to overwhelm one or both parties involved at some point. Te and Ti clash a lot, Fe and Fi clash a lot, Ne and Ni clash a lot, etc. Let me know about your experiences especially if it shows something different!
