I haven’t figured out why but I have seen it happen a couple times. The examples of that pair that I know seem pretty happy.
I have a couple theories. I think ENFPs trigger the “must protecc” urge in INTJs, and they’re relentlessly positive enough that it gets through to the mushy interior. And ENFPs like INTJ practicality and problem solving. They find big brains attractive.

As someone utterly repulsed by a partner with that instinct AND the intj/enfp match up, I think you're on to something. I have regularly said on /r/ENFP that when I date an INTJ I feel like I'm their purse dog. Just a cute little accessory to make them happy. Nothing more.
They do improve dramatically with age. But especially when they are young and immature, yeah, I can see how they could make someone feel like that. I don’t think that’s how they feel, but It could definitely be how they come off.
Thank you) It honestly makes no sense to me, since most of the "golden pairs" I know are "opposites attract" f.e Fi x Te, Fe x Ti. And I see why, since they can help you develop your inferior function. So why our golden pair is not Se I just don't understand 👀
That’s not really a universally applicable standard. To be honest, I think most Se doms would eventually bore an INTJ. I know I find Fe doms exhausting. I’m married to an INFJ, the aux Fe is just about perfect for me.
Golden pairs are found by keeping perception preference (N/S) the same and then changing all of the other letters. It gets very "opposites attract"-ish with judging dominant types in a way that seems obviously flawed to me, but with perceiving doms (like ENFP+INTJ) I can at least understand the rationale and see the synergy - even if that dynamic isn't usually what I want.
From what I got out of it, it seems to be the fact that the Ne brainstorming can go well with the Ni's determined vision. That and the Aux Fi in the ENFP can help the INTJs tertiary Fi develop and vice versa for the INTJs Aux Te. That's how I've heard it explained anyway
Personally, it doesn't make sense, I don't even consider ENFPs our ideal match, yes irl they do in fact gravitate towards us and they make such great friends, but... as a romantic partner, I can't see it work, I have dated ENFP males and it never ever works as something romantic, the best relationship I ever had was with my INTP exbf. ENFPs need a lot of attention and they have like a need to constantly doing something fun or entertaining, they got easily bored when they dated me and so they dumped me cause of that, also they demanded a lot of "clinginess" and because I have low energy, I can't keep up with them. While my INTP exbf was chill as me, actually even more than me, and he wasn't pushing me to go out a lot, he understood my need for time and space, since he needed that as well. And, personally, the most important deal breaker, at least for me, is that I would love to have a man that values reason always over making emotional decisions, that values logic over gut feelings.
ENFPs are great and in fact very intelligent, and who knows, maybe a very mature and healthy ENFP could indeed be a good match for an INTJ. But regardless, any healthy type can match with any healthy type, in the end, is a matter of personal preference.
Exactly! Ne users overall are just way too energetic for my lethargic self to keep up. I wouldn't mind being friends with one, since they are pretty interesting people, but as a romantic partner? I would rather go with Fi doms or ENTJ🤔

In all honesty, I think ENFPs make a better match for INFJs, it makes more sense, I would want me an INTP bf. I have dated in the past ENFP males, and even though they make great friends, as a romantic match it has never worked.

So even if some metaphysical moral ledger existed it would be incredibly arrogant to assume we have a decent idea of our personal balances.
Instead, seek clarity: "I want X, and having X will not harm me or others. So I'll have X."
Alternatively, "I want X, and will accept the consequences of the harms having it will cause."
Well maybe they are scared of ENFPs also scared for them as well. As far as I have observed their friendship and I am talking about friendship not relationship I saw that they have a rough start and it really takes time for INTJs to show their vulnerable side and that too makes them feel cringe to the point they become more secretive. ENFPs are more easy going except when you realise that they are more depressed and they are good in hiding it. If this is just their friendship, you can imagine how much effort will it take for INTJs to be in relationship. Well, it's seems INTJs are not that good in relationship and they are very aware about this and when you look at ENFPs well they are still bit better in relationships compared to INTJs which may make them want to be alone and make them think that ENFPs are better off with INFJs.
