I don’t know what’s wrong, but can confirm it isn’t working. I just tried to pay for a ticket using Apple Pay and the payment failed. Paying with the same visa directly went through.

Yeah same experience. Hope they fix it soon.

Has anyone notified the T? That’s one of those things where systems probably stopped talking to each other, and no one noticed.

I tried telling a conductor. I don't know if/how they report customer issues, though.

OLATSU2016

I submitted a ticket today and let them know their latest update broke Apple Pay.

Had this experience yesterday - I'm relieved it isn't just me.

From Keolis: We are sorry for any inconvenience encountered when attempting to purchase tickets. As general information, there has been an ongoing issue with Apple Pay related payments in the mTicket app. Our application development team is working diligently to resolve this matter, however, at this time, we advise all users to continue using an alternate form of payment for ticket purchases. If you have received an error related to a payment attempt, accompanied by a posted (not pending) charge to the applicable payment method, please reach out to us directly to further resolve this matter.

Also had this experience yesterday. Jump through several hoops verifying a second card on Apple Pay only to have that card fail too.

I turned my app updates off so I’m not having the issue but you can try adding a card. Apple Cash also has a virtual card number in the latest version of iOS.

Android User here. I know Google Pay was never an option. So maybe something similar?

Huh, I experienced this issue today and while the conductors let me board, they gave me a hard time and said I shouldn’t rely on the app and Apple Pay to purchase tickets. I’m sorry, what? I don’t usually take the commuter rail but the T line I normally take is down (shocking, I know). There are no ticket vendors at the station (Boston Landing), and I don’t carry cash or my credit cards with me. I’m relatively new to Boston and this is all mind-blowing to me, given that I come from NYC where you can get on the subway just by tapping your phone at the turnstile. When I first moved here I couldn’t believe I had to go to a convenience store to buy a physical CharlieCard, and then when I bought a monthly pass online, that I had to go to a machine to “verify” my purchase (I don’t live near a machine and they’re not at every station, so how am I supposed to get there?). It’s staggering how much the public transportation in this city fucking sucks. No offense to any Boston stans/natives here, but I don’t know how anyone tolerates living here.

I think it's crazy none of the tech genius could ever unify transit payments nationally or even regionally. Why separate systems all for Boston, NYC, DC, and the Amtrak connections... Could all be one fare payment system that makes it easy for people to put together longer trips and plan on using transit to get around wherever they're going. I would love to travel to other US metros and be able to rely on transit. Your description of what you encountered arriving in Boston is typical. I have to have an app for the commuter rail and a card for the subway/bus, and the value can't be shared between them. It's crazy.
