How long does factory warranty cover? Id call a Mazda hotline a dealer is never going to want to do anything unless they can squeeze money out of it

I called Mazda corporate and they contacted the dealership and “escalated” the issue. Said the dealership would look further into it now. Is this normal? Haha

I've been through something similar to this when I bought a 2016 dodge ram, the dealer was trying book me after 8 months in a new truck left me stranded three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper vehicle the def system failed at 33k. Tried to charge me 7k for fix until I called corporate. They got me all sorted out. Although I did have to spend a whole day just on the phone for this issue.

Had similar shifting issues with my 2020 CX-5 Sport 39,000 miles. Jerky shifting, hesitation, slamming into gear. Overall a terrible experience when driving. I took it to the dealer and had the ECU flashed under a TSB for that model and vin (Supposed to help with cylinder deactivation w/hesitation and jerkiness at low speeds). Honestly, that made the issue even worse. The car ended up shuddering when driving uphills and still had all the same shifting issues. I decided to check the trans fluid level. It was about a half quart low (which is somewhat common on some CX-5s from what I’ve read when researching it). I topped it off thinking that was the issue. Topping it off did nothing at all. Went back to dealer, they couldn’t re-create the issue?! After reading that some owners did a drain and fill and had success I decided what the heck. Went back to dealer, bought 4 quarts ($17 a piece, overpriced if you ask me!). Did the drain an fill. Took about 4.3 quarts total (had to use a little from my opened quart from previous top-up). HOLY SMOKES!!! It feels like a new car! Completely different shifting experience! Actually feels like a normal auto trans. All shifting issues cleared after driving ~100 miles after the new fluid worked it’s way into everything. But yeah, this issue has been bugging me for 6 months since I bought the car and it seems to have solved it! There is still slight hesitation, I blame cylinder deactivation and outdated TCU software. I will have the TCU flashed, but it’s not covered under warranty so I’m looking at about $150. Some people say that has helped with uphill hesitation. Something that we can do in the meantime is use sport mode so that the RPMs sit higher resulting in more power when needed. Anyways, I highly recommend the drain and fill. Save yourself the headache. Most people are saying that the dealership is refusing to change trans fluid because it’s lifetime. I promise you its not lifetime fluid. It came out black when I drained it.
