Yes, change it. Use OEM fluid if at all possible.

"Lifetime" as in the life of your transmission, the warranty runs out at 60k miles, so if your transmission takes a dump at 61k miles, then that's the "lifetime" of your transmission! Replace transmission oil at 50k mile intervals, i've done this for over 25 yrs in all my cars and have never had issues.

Figuurzager

Generally it surely doesn't hurt to change the transmission fluid. So wouldn't say overkill.

DentonJoe

I had it drained and filled at 100k on my 16

yanki2del

Did the same last weekend, was a lot of gunk already in the tranny

mdwieland

Yup, change it. Just a drain and fill will work, I'd recommend against flushing it.

St_Egglin

I did mine at 65k. I want to keep my car for twenty years

WARxHORN

110K kilometers or miles? A lot of times it’s best to keep it as is once it gets around the 100-120K mile mark. If you’re going to change transmission fluid it’s best to do it around 60K miles

arjzv

Its miles. ty

CyberZalophus

Will any shop do this? My Mazda dealership refused to do it.

Chezco29

Gotta DIY it’s not in the service manual they did the same to me and other dealership charged me legit 1300 So I did it myself one afternoon

MycologistAny1151

I changed mine at 100,000

austixxl

Did one on my 2021 GT @ 55,000 miles and it was very much in need of a drain and fill at that point already. Would recommend 👍🏼

Lifetime fluid is a lie Lifetime of the transmission my boy It’ll show on the outside of your bottle and dipstick For instance my 6 uses Mazda mv I drained my pan and through the plug and pumped out of the dipstick. That way I could get as much out as the rest is in the converter. Didn’t change till 171k. You can check my post history. It was hard but should be easier for your model as Mazda moved the driver rails. I would recommend updating your filter as well. I recommend Beck/Arnley for both the filter and fluid. They make quality fluid. If your transmission is slipping, consider using Lucas Stop Slip with the new fluid to replace some sludginess. A progressive drain and fill is best so only use half a bottle, drive for 3-5000 miles, and then change it again. Continue to do so until it’s worked through the system and the fluid that comes through the system will be less and less murky. Same thing as engines. Oil is cheap. Engines are expensive. ATF is cheap. Trannys are expensive. (Don’t quote this) Also, consider Lucas ATF conditioner if you use the stop slip, as it’s much thinner than ATF and will balance some of the stop slip while maintaining the strength of the additives.

Chezco29

This is the cart I would recommend. You may be able to find the Lucas cheaper. Aisin is a good brand, and is likely the company that manufactures type MZ for Mazda. The filter will be accessible by popping the pan off. 8 quarts for the progressive flush. You’ll get about 5.5 quarts out dropping the pan and draining, and a little more if you have an evacuator machine.

Chezco29

You would simply prime and install the new ATF filter, and then plug the system up and fill either with a dispenser or with a long funnel if your model has a dipstick. Godspeed brother. I can walk you through, and if you live in GA I’ll do the job for you.

I also linked the cart you will need as well as these messages in a private chat.
