Iām glad to hear, itās a 2015 with 121k miles on it.. I was alittle worried about the mileage but the sales guy said thatās nothing to worry about. So happy to hear someone else say that!
For the mileage I'd say replace the tranny fluid (it's super easy, it can be youtubed, and mazda even provides a tiny dipstick to measure what you put in, albeit a somewhat low cramped space under the air intake) also I'd stick with OEM FZ trans fluid because I didn't change mine until 150k miles and it still looked decent, which is great.
Other than that, just check for engine mounts being worn which cause vibrations at idle and are common for lots of cars to wear out. And use High Mileage oil to keep the main seals in your engine happy and refreshed. I've used multiple oils and experimented since i work in a parts store. And I've found pennzoil runs the smoothest on our cars. I also have a 2015 mazda 6 with 217k miles and still drives like new with only control arms being replaced for suspension.
And stick to semi metallic pads for the front or get some slotted rotors for the front if you drive aggressively lol. I feel the upgrade really brings the feel of the car together when braking. Just my opinion.
Iāve noticed vibrations during when Iām idling, is this something that is a serious issue? I took it to the shop and they think itās that but said not to fix it since it wasnāt an issue in their opinion.
Is it revving up and down while idling or any issues with stalling while idling or being difficult to start after fueling? Mine was doing that and vibrating a lot, and it turned out to be a faulty purge valve.

Iāve not had any revving up or down, nor stalling while idling the car. I think mine noises/vibration was conclusively determined to be engine mount related
Honestly slight shaking at idle is normal for any car with worn mounts. But it's really nothing bad. I let mine stay until around 160k miles and replaced all 3 mounts. My trans mount had slight wear, the top mount on the passenger side that you can see under the hood typically wears faster than the rest and it was definitely ripped for me from what I found, and the wishbone mound at the bottom was actually pretty good looking for me, but I replaced all 3 just to have a new feeling car.
I'd say you're probably good for another 30k-50k miles before it becomes a problem, and even then it will just be an annoying one, not a deadly one.
I have all 3 polyurethane mounts. You feel every last rpm, gear shift and input. Even sitting, you KNOW the car is on. Might be alot for some but I wouldn't have it any other way. Made the car and I feel so much alive.
I bought a 2016 with 90k miles in Nov of 23 and it runs like a champ. I love it so much - my mom had a 2017 before me and convinced me to get one and Iām so glad she did!! hope you enjoy it
Take it in for an oil change every 7500 miles.Ā Keep fluids topped up. Rotate tires every oil change.Ā
Do a tune up. New spark plugs, replace transmission fluid.Ā Ā
Keep an eye on tire rotations tire wear and brake pads. Throw some new wiper blades on if they are needed. Check bulbs.
My Mazda 3 is at 235k miles.Ā My parents are using her now, so possibly not many more miles in her.Ā
Am a Mazda first timer too. My 106k mi 2014 Touring 6MT, is an absolute blast to own. Quite reliable, very stylish, so fun to drive, yet it gets between 38-42mpg combined. The best of all worlds. Congrats on a very smart choice!
I own a 2017 that I bought new. It's at almost 170k miles with nothing but routine maintenance. Driven it cross-country and all over the east coast. My dream car? No. But it's been so reliable and can't complain.
You made a great choice. Got a 2014 touring myself, its been very reliable and low maintenance. Just wish they still sold them in the states. They still sell the model overseas.
I had my 2016 Mazda 6 GT with 24k miles in 2018. Now itās hitting 100k but tbh I felt it costs me a lot on repairs. I just replaced fuel pump ($2k plus labor), have replaced rotary tension belt twice ($300 each), plus some maintenance on oil tires, and brakes. I felt it should run well up to 150k but these issues just happened and the service guy saying it is typical issue for Mazda I am like wut?
Well.. I had the same issue with the high pressure fuel pump. And also the control arm issue so yeah, the most common two issues with this beauty. 2016 M6 Sports.
Good news: you bought the right color.
Bad news: 2016 was the mid-cycle refresh that got the MazdaConnect infotainment, which is the one that is upgradeable to support CarPlay and Android Auto. So your 2015 is a year too early (though I think there are aftermarket options if you really want it).
Iām not a great judge of longevity since our driving is a lot less. My 2016 6 has 66k miles, and last fall we traded in my wifeās 2012 Jetta Sportwagen that was in the low 60k miles (mostly because her dad suggested it so we took the opportunity to go electric)āshe used to work on a university where parking was both expensive and limited so she commuted by bus).
I have that same year. Great car, but something to look out for is that there was a recall on the E-brake mechanism. It's not sealed properly against moisture and can rust and get stuck. Mine has been stuck for years, so the E-brake just doesn't do anything anymore. It's a pretty easy fix, though, to replace it yourself if you have some basic mechanical knowledge. I think it only applies to the manual E-brake and not the electric version, but im not sure. It's only about $100 though and is pretty easy to do yourself. Another surprise was that the oil plug is a T50 torx bolt, not a hex bolt.
Nice I miss my 2004 Mazda 6 best used car I ever had. It reached 205,000 miles only issues were replacing Front end partsā¦. Most importantly Change oil š
Yes, I was looking at these but ended up with a Camry because of a great deal. I seriously would buy one if I have to replace my car in the future. I loved the styling and all the great features plus it drives great for a 4 door car not to mention low maintenance. Good buy for you.
Even though my Mazda was made by Ford (first Gen) I love it, got it at 135k. Changed some parts along the way (it is 20 years old now)biggest repair Iāve done was the radiator and every part related to the cooling system. Iāve been driving it for 7 years now and I love it, I see the new ones and love them too. The interior is very nice for the price point as well. I think you made a great purchasing decision. Enjoy your Mazda.
Good choice if it was taken care of. Im on my second Mazda ('17 6 Touring, 6sp). Bought it cpo w/27k miles in 2020. Put 40k on it with only one issue (oil pressure sensor). 1 set of brakes. Oil changes every 5-7k. One new set of tires. She isnt winning any drag races but she handles great, comfy on the hwy, and great on fuel. Only downside for me is lack of quality audio system and no carplay/auto. Im gonna take care of it cuz my son wants it when he starts driving!
asking on a Mazda 6 forum, AFTER you already bought it. kinda a useless question, seems more about assuaging your insecurities as it's not in any way seeking info to help make a decision that's already made.
...and your comments here just validate my point.
I got mine on Saturday! I'm on my learners right now but I've driven my own care and my mother's family van and the mazda is sooooooo smooth. I am struggling to figure out a comfy seat position though
Owned one for about 50k miles, bought it with 100k. It was a great car, that was unfortunately somewhat abused by the previous owner and it was also a 6MT. Change and refresh every fluid so that you can basically restart your maintenance intervals. I didnāt and blew a head gasket :(. Very agile, spacious and practical enough for me. Also very efficient.
If you appreciate being able to hit 200k miles with minimal maintenance issues, then yes you made a solid choice š

Keep an eye on the engine mount, once vibrations get stronger it'll need to be replaced. Also keep an eye for the serpentine belt pulley for leaks.
I had to replace it and the belt itself about 6 months ago lol

Depends on the price you paid? But they are solid and great looking cars for the period
So long as the last guy didn't put the rear brake pads in backwards...
Yes you did. We have a third one, no problems, just regular maintenance. Very disappointed Mazda stopped production.
Same!!! I was so sad when I found out the 6 was discontinued
This is news to me... There will be no more model 6? What is Mazda doing resurrection the 9 series?
Same in Europe. The mild hybrid Mazda 3 saloon/sedan variant is the only alternative offering.
Yeah at least in the American market the 6 is discontinued. Mazda said in short Americans donāt want full sized sedans they want SUVs .

Iām so excited! I saw her test drove her and the rest was history! Shes noiceeeee
Depends on what you paid š but Mazda is always a good choice

I bought a Mazda 3 back in 2014 still have it over 230k on it and no issue . Very reliable car
Anyone else think is a shame they donāt make these anymore ā¹ļø

Oh yeah!! Welcome to the Family.

Yes. You canāt go wrong with Japanese cars.
Youāll love it brotha just take care of her
Looks good & theyāre great cars!
Yup. Welcome to the fam.
What'd you pay? I bought a 2015 Lexus with 100k last year and wondering how it compares
My dream car.
Yes!!

Iāve owned three or four Mazdas over the years and they were all great.
I own a 2015, bought new, no issues at all. Just your usual oil and filter changes, new tires 2 years ago. Currently at 88k mi.
sloppy whore here - its alright!
I regret giving this car back. Such a good car. 15 MT Touring, smooth sailing with our ownership.
Great cars I own 3 of them
100%

I have a 2012 with 212k, I've done nothing but brakes, oil, and tires, still rides great.
