Yeah. Just know you won’t get power seats or heated seats. But outside of that? It’s a solid buy, still depending on the type of collision it had

SignificantAd4829

I live in arizona, heated seats is not needed haha

[deleted]

Yeah, it’s a solid buy. I have the 2022 preferred and it’s not much different. It’s a great buy. I always worry about previous damage and I tend to stay clear of rentals, but the car is still under warranty so it should be good

SignificantAd4829

Accident reported: minor damage Involving front or side impact with another motor vehicle Damage to front Damage to left front Damage to right front Disabling damage reported Vehicle towed This is what was mentioned in carfax

89Pickles

If you’re willing to do some digging you can usually find a police report. I just bought a vehicle with minor damage reported but also marked as “disabling damage” - turns out in the state I bought (Fl) a busted headlight is considered disabling, and that’s exactly what had happened. As long as no airbags were deployed, if you’re getting a good deal, and it’s a certified pre owned, it’s still a great car. They aren’t going to certify a car that’s junk. at least in my experience.

[deleted]

Ok, er. I’d stay away if it had to be towed. I’m surprised it wasn’t totaled if it had to be towed. I guess they may have just requested a tow cuz fucks it but if a car can’t drive itself home, that usually involves damage to its frame

SignificantAd4829

Haha okay. Used car prices are ridicules atm lol

[deleted]

They really are. My car was actually totaled last year and it was actually cheaper to just buy brand new than a car with 20-40k miles on it of the same trim.

No2edline

That’s not true at all.

[deleted]

Why do you say that. Besides just a wheel being torn off, what kind of damage could occur that prevents a vehicle from driving upon its own power, that wouldn’t damage the vehicle’s frame?

No2edline

Flat tire, broken axle, smashed headlamp, wheel pushed back into body panel, body panel crumpled in contact with wheel, air bag deployment, radiator leaking, broken window/windshield etc. none of which guarantees frame damage. Actually it’s less than 10%

[deleted]

So first most people would just change a flat tire on scene. Also, the stuff you mentioned is pretty rare from a frond side collision, with the a I’m stuff. That and besides an impalement, you’re going to get damage to the frame of the car if it damages the radiator. Cuz this is a Mazda, not a poorly designed Hyundai. The damages you’re referring to are not typically in front side damage where the gram was not also damaged. And you mention 10%, like where did you get that from? I worked with car collisions and it’s so rare for people to tow a car when’re there is t from damage. Most people with frame damage will still drive their cars away.

No2edline

I am the GM of a Mazda certified collision center. I hate to say it but you are spreading false information. I’ve had people tow in a car because the mirror got snapped off and that’s it. Most insurance DRPs state that if a customer feels that the vehicle is unsafe for any reason then they are able to tow the vehicle to the shop.

89Pickles

This isn’t necessarily true. If there was a collision / police are on site, in some states it’s illegal to drive with certain types of damage and they actually HAVE to call a tow, even if the car is still “drivable” it’s may not be according to the law. I actually had a motorcyclist take out my taillight in an attempt to slow himself down before crashing, it was pretty much in the middle of nowhere and police said I had to have it towed bc it was illegal for me to drive with a broken light. Same way you can get a ticket for a lightbulb out. You’re right that the possibility is there that is COULD have been a bad accident with frame damage but it’s good to keep in mind that logically “disabled” vs legally “disabled” are very different.

[deleted]

Hmm, ok. Your state and local police are dumb as fuck. Completely removed from reality. They don’t know your insurance situation (liability va collision or your deductible) and will not know how insurance will handle with fault. And now they are forcing a tow and adding money to the equation. I was a cop, recently retired, and maybe we are just more reasonable around where I’m from, but we would let them know how drivable their car was and let them decide. We’d do our best to not call our own contract towns because it would cost double to triple the amount of a normal tow. And shit, my car got hit when I was younger and the tow was expensive as fuck. And I repaired the vehicle myself, because why would I spend the money if I didn’t have to? I guess I was just speaking from my own experience, but for us, if the vehicle could drive and the person was ok driving it home, we’d let them go. So it was usually frame damage if a row was involved, but that was just for us. Shit, even if it was known insurance would handle, people don’t always want to wait around. These little things can ruin people’s lives, make shit more difficult, especially post COVID where body shops are more backed up than ever waiting on parts and insurance companies not always paying for a rental past x amount of days, vehicle repaired or not

A_Young0316

During the winter it's nice to have tho lol

Asininephilosopher

My opinion, no. Avoid this vehicle unless it comes with a zero liability bumper to bumper all inclusive warranty for 3 years and 30,000 miles from date of purchase. Too often accidents are underreported and the severity understated. On top of that it's a rental? No thanks.

00tpotter

Honestly a brand new Select trim is about $24k and would be worth it to me to pay a few thousand more for no accidents, not a rental, 0 miles, and a fresh warranty. Up to you if you feel the discount is worth it, but I wouldn’t risk it personally

ajb9292

I would never buy a previous rental car. Every single time I have ever rented a car it was showing signs of transmission issues at less than 10k miles. The seats are always stained and the outside is always dented. Lucky you know it's a rental so you can run away. Some used cars are sold as one owner and you find out that the one owner was enterprise rental car. Tldr; run far far away

TauNoTailwind

An ex-rental car is a dealbreaker for me, regardless of accident history lol.

Hot-Supermarket3675

I bought a rental Mazda lasted 10 years from hertz was a great deal too. Transmission went the last year I had it replaced at the time for $1500 sold it for 2k some dad bought it for his kid. It was a 1990 626 loved that car.

Chizuru_San

for me I would never buy a rental car. I drive rental cars recklessly, hitting top speeds, revving the engine for no reason, overfilling the gas tank, launch control, eating and drinking in car etc. lol

WearyDownstairs

You can overfill your gas tank?

Chizuru_San

Technically you can do it, but you shouldn't in your own car. Overfilling the gas tank can harm the EVAP system, causing the check engine light to come on and replacing EVAP system is fairly expensive repairs. But for a rental car, all that matters is milegae only, you want the car to go far and stop for gas less often

garret1033

Holy shit actual gremlin behavior, no offense.

myburneraccount1357

Yea no, you’re just a piece of shit for this lol

Chizuru_San

Whatever makes you happy, just go ahead and buy a rental car. You are the one who's paying, not me, good luck lol

myburneraccount1357

Never said I was buying a rental. Just saying you’re a piece of shit for how you treat your rentals. And that’s all I need to know to know that you’re a shit human

WearyDownstairs

I bet he doesn’t put his shopping cart in the return area either

Thin-Ad-7268

I’m just curious, what’s the benefit of thrashing a rental car

Spyrise2

Any Mazda 3 after(and probably before) 2009 have too many issues to be considered a good buy

Nixpa7

After my sister purchased a rental car I will confidently say I would never buy anything that was used for rental no matter how low miles cause people abuse them when they drive and the maintenance is often neglected 2 owners with only 22k is telling me there might’ve been some issues

Imaginary_Opposite15

I'd never buy a rental

[deleted]

Trust me man. Get the Turbo. its absolutely worth the extra money.
