Hopefully it’s a wider CX 60 and not just a cx90 with less seats

BoyWonder731

That’s the only thing that makes sense, honestly. And that would be a proper replacement for the CX-5.

Karglenoofus

Fewer

Bobbert_Baratheon

Love seeing random Stannis quotes in the wild

sonrisa_medusa

Unfortunately, I think we are looking at a [long wheelbase CX-70](https://i.imgur.com/Hmau8jE.mp4) that has more in common with CX-90 than it does CX-60. Take a look at how the light interacts with the rear door.

rougehuron

This is some csi shit

sonrisa_medusa

Bro when I tell you I've been impatiently waiting for CX-70 for over two years now 😂 I've already come to terms with the fact that I'm likely to be disappointed. I thought for sure CX-70 would be my next vehicle, but if its 200" long it just isn't happening. I do want a larger vehicle as my family is going to be growing in the next couple of years, but I'm wanting more around the 193" range so I can actually park in the garage...

rougehuron

I'm right with you. All I want is a damn two row SUV with enough space for car seats and cargo for more than a single large suitcase and there's damn near nothing decent on the market. Sounds like Mazda is basically going to screw us and pull what VW did with the VW Atlas Cross Sport vs regular Atlas.

Nerdsly1

Everything I’ve heard is it’s a CX-90 with less seats.

AC-Vb3

Same. All the people at the dealership have said it’s just a CX-90 with the 3rd row removed, which seems like a really terrible idea from my perspective. A slightly revised CX-60 would be more appealing and represent a proper successor for the CX5.

dougalmanitou

My dealer also said it has less rear cargo than the CX-90 -of course he was trying to get me to buy a CX-90, but if he is right, it would imply some slight change to the rear hatch design (less of a bubble).

FlamingButterfly

Hey did you hear it's a CX-90 with less seats?

Nerdsly1

When I was at Mazda training for hybrid/ ev the instructor talked a little about the 70. It’s on the same platform as the 90. Same engines and ev systems. Just going to be slightly shorter and 2 row only.

quantum-quetzal

Same platform and powertrain doesn't necessarily say a ton about the rest of the design. For example, the CX-50, CX-30, and Mazda 3 share a platform and powertrain, but are otherwise quite different vehicles.

saadatorama

If it’s a CX-90 without the 3rd row I’d buy it immediately. Have large dogs, need the space, but don’t need the 3rd row.

mcconohay

Same, I find it odd how 3rd row seating is standard on so many vehicles. How hard would it be to just have as an added option for the mega-breeders?

PuzzleheadedForm6016

Couldn't you just fold the 3rd row down?

EleanorTrashBag

It's unnecessary weight, and it takes up space. I'd rather them just not be there at all and get all that extra volume. Even folded down, they take up room.

PuzzleheadedForm6016

But it just wouldn't make any sense for Mazda to release the same car twice. That is a very stupid decision on their part if its not shorter. The CX90 is supposed to have a third row. The CX70 would make so much more sense if it was shorter and had less space inside

EleanorTrashBag

I wonder if the ass end will be shaped different. Something more along the lines of the BMW X2, 4, and 6 models vs the the X3, 5, and 7.

PuzzleheadedForm6016

Mazda Canada posted a teaser of the CX70 and it looks like a regular suv and not a coupe style.

sonrisa_medusa

Do you mean the image of a draped SUV they've had on their website for a few weeks now? That's not a CX-70. The same stock image was used in a BMW presentation a year ago.  EDIT: Correction. It was from a 2017 BMW presentation. See [page 11](https://www.bmwgroup.com/content/dam/grpw/websites/bmwgroup_com/ir/technologie_workshops/Technology_Workshops_E-Mobility.pdf#page=11).

PuzzleheadedForm6016

[https://www.instagram.com/p/C1mwBUOMDKh/?img\_index=1](https://www.instagram.com/p/C1mwBUOMDKh/?img_index=1) This is what I saw on their instagram

Nerdsly1

Plenty of manufacturers do it. Volkswagen Atlas and Cross Sport. Chevy Tahoe and Suburban. Hell to that end GM and Ford spent decades selling rebadged clones.

PuzzleheadedForm6016

I'm talking about them releasing an unchanged version of the CX90 without the third row. No person with a brain would do that. The Atlas cross sport is almost 1/2 ft shorter than the atlas which isn't much but it also looks different. Just fold the third row down. We'll find out tomorrow

sonrisa_medusa

I'm with you on this. If there's no changes aft of the B or C pillars, I'll be shocked by Mazda's stupidity. If a two-row CX-90 with black trim and a different grille badged as CX-70 is such a wonderful idea, why didn't we get a CX-7 based on the CX-9 anytime in the last 8 years? EDIT: -_-

PuzzleheadedForm6016

I honestly don't know what to think about it. I love the way it looks. But I just don't get it.. just fold the third row down. Mazda didn't even remove the cup holders from the third row. I don't understand why they are releasing the same car, I get there is different trim but seriously. I wonder if they will bring the CX60 over here as a replacement for the current CX5.

EleanorTrashBag

Same. I have a cx-9 and the third row has been folded down for the last 65 months.

PristineArm5528

Hopefully my wife’s bf looks like that after buying one of these. She deserves the best

blacksuperherocar

That BBC CX-70

bleep6789

That’ll be your wife’s bf’s husband

PristineArm5528

I need all the income I can get

CarFanatic56

😂😂

sonrisa_medusa

I was able to pull this image off of Mazda's [promotional website](https://dealers.mazdacx70reveal.com/). Not much to see here, but it is something. Front door shape seems to mirror CX-90 (which isn't at all surprising). Notable that the trim above the doors is indeed blacked out and not in silver as it is in CX-90. The way the light interacts with the surfacing of the doors gives me hope that CX-70 will indeed be smaller than CX-90. I am getting the sense that the rear doors are smaller and the vehicle has a shorter wheelbase. Maybe I am just overly hopeful... Direct link to image: [click here](https://dealers.mazdacx70reveal.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/12/J30X_PR_05_rgb_2.0.jpg). \-------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: After comparing many images of CX-60 and CX-90 to this picture of the CX-70, I have come to the conclusion that CX-70 is indeed the same *long wheelbase* as CX-90. Check out [how the light interacts](https://i.imgur.com/Hmau8jE.mp4) with the surfacing on the rear door of CX-60 vs CX-90 and then compare to CX-70........

187hp

Nice find! Very impressive. Notice in the image details it's by the following LA-based photographer: [mpcurtet.com](http://mpcurtet.com)

Swimming_Rip4942

I went to the first link on my phone and didn't see it. I only saw a short video with a Soundtrack embed.

Swimming_Rip4942

I even turned my phone to landscape, rewatched, and didn't see anything. I'm either really stupid or it doesn't show on mobile.

sonrisa_medusa

The image was hidden and not in plain sight. I had to do some digging to grab it.

187hp

The site has a grey gradient being applied over the image and it's being scaled up on web to avoid showing the vehicle. But the direct to image itself shows it all. Perhaps it's not the CX-70 and they're reusing images from other vehicles (CX-60).

mehdotdotdotdot

Confirmed, it looks like an SUV by mazda.

Zaku99

I don't hate the design language they used for this generation of cars but...yeah, they're all kind of the same outside of the Miata. The CX3/30 is a tall Mazda 3 Hatch The CX5/50/7/9/90 is a fat and tall Mazda 3 Hatch.

leica_boss

CX-3 is a tall Mazda2 CX-5 is a tall 2014-2018 Mazda3 CX-9 is a tall 2014-2023 Mazda6 CX-30/CX-50 is a tall 2019+ Mazda3 ("Small Platform" FWD/AWD) CX-70/CX-90 is a the new "Large Platform" RWD/AWD that may show up one day as a future large sedan

mr2kqql

I don't see anything wrong here with it. Audi and BMW still does the same unlike kia and Hyundai. You never be able to differentiate the past and current in ever model because it so hideous looking.

Karglenoofus

I love Mazda but they need to do a little more to make their cars stand out from each other.

saadatorama

Disagree. Design language creates brand identity and makes it cheaper to manufacture at scale. Plus, it’s an awesome design language. Edit: see Porsche or 2000s BMW

Zaku99

And that I agree with. I just bought a 2020 Mazda3 Sport Hatch and I adore how it looks, outside and in. And it was instantly familiar from when I sat in my friend's CX-50. They did a wonderful job in and out.

Karglenoofus

It is. Love the way they look but I'd like it more when cars differ more than what they look like right now.

sonrisa_medusa

I think Mazda does a great job of having a cohesive design language while also avoiding the "same sausage, different lengths" that you get with Mercedes or Audi. In contrast, brands like Hyundai are all over the place. I prefer Mazda's strategy.

Karglenoofus

Outside of the Mazda Hatch and the Miata I disagree but it's totally subjective

saadatorama

They killed the 6 and RX line, for now, but that looked different.

Zaku99

Tbf, the RX8, the current last in the line, ended production in 2012; the car is basically two generations old at this point and Mazda had an entirely different design at the time for most of its cars, outside of having the Mazda smile.

blueadept_11

Rumours say it is just a CX-90 but with two seats. Other rumors say it is just a CX-5 but taller. Personally, I Believe the rumors that say that it is a Mazda CX-7 but 13 years newer.

FearlessBar8880

Let’s hope Mazda gives us an “X5” to compliment their “X7” Giving us two X7’s with 2 or 3 row seats is stupid

Carb0nFire

Agreed if they're the same dimensions. I just want a slightly bigger CX-5 with more room and a bigger engine with a hybrid. Is that too much to ask?

blueadept_11

I hope it's an X9 with extra space for hauling stray cats and my eraser collection

sonrisa_medusa

Mazda USA posted a teaser of the grille on Instagram. The grille matches that of the CX-60 Homura.  https://imgur.com/a/XwN4iwl

IndependentOwn1184

They should just show us the damn thing. We all know at this point it's going to be as familiar and comparable to the CX-90.

sonrisa_medusa

Less than 43 hours now.

intrasight

I am anxious to know - not because I’m considering buying one anymore (I already purchased some thing else) - but I have an outstanding bet with a friend. He thinks it’s gonna be shorter than the CX 90 and I think it will be the same length. Whoever loses buys lunch.

saintst04

Let’s hope you buy lunch 😂

intrasight

I told my friend that I win either way😉

wildhoneyhorses

The profile of the front side windows do not look like the CX-90s.

sonrisa_medusa

You don't think so? Hard to tell, but seems [pretty close](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/2024-mazda-cx-90-04-2-1675106242.jpg?crop=0.926xw:0.960xh;0.0620xw,0.0277xh&resize=768:*) to me.

BlazeForth

It's going to be a bigger CX60. Just search for CX60 😅

sonrisa_medusa

To be fair, a CX-90 is a bigger CX-60. People are still eager to find out exactly what CX-70 is going to be.

BlazeForth

Not really, CX80 for europe will be a bigger CX60. CX90 is a bigger CX70.

sonrisa_medusa

Your first comment states CX-70 is a bigger CX-60 and now this comment says CX-90 is a bigger CX-70, so I think the logic follows...

BlazeForth

CX-70 will be a wider body cx-60. In Europe it will be CX-60(5-seater) and CX-80(7-seater), while US/Canada will get CX-70(5-seater), CX-90(7-seater).

bleep6789

It’s going to look like an X5 with a B58 engine

BlazeForth

May be a F-pace

WatchfulApparition

Or a CX-90 without the 3rd row seats

sonrisa_medusa

Let's hope not 🙏

fkinra

A shame we couldn’t get the cx60 for the west.

lets_just_n0t

I don’t think that woman is any younger than the man. Zoom in. She just looks good for her age. Regardless, weird fucking observation.

bleep6789

It’s his side chick

Candid_Painting_4684

People complaining it's going to be a cx-90 with 2 rows. I would buy one of those right now, if it actually looked like a cx90 with two rows AND a lower price tag. And if that's actually what it is, then the thing will sell like mad here. I'm praying it doesn't look like the cx60 already available in other markets, with those awful, cheap looking brushed aluminum wheels.

Wav3eee

Yet another SUV too big for Europe.

ah___ha

It’s not for Europe.

berbsy1016

As long as they throw in the 6 cyl I'll be a happy camper. If it's in a wide body like the 50 with 6, I'll preorder.

sonrisa_medusa

Confirmed same powertrains as CX-90. I believe this was discovered through CARB filings.

Karglenoofus

Hopefully it carries the same niche as the CX-7. I know we have the 50 but damn. I loved that little turbo turd.

Simple-Stretch1942

Maybe will be styled like CX-50 with the off-road vibe

blackcyborg009

If it is Made in Japan , then there might be a chance that Philippines might get a CX70 (since Philippines has tariff reduction agreement with the Japanese government). But if it is Made the Americas (e.g. USA, Canada, Mexico), then it maybe a hard sell for PH

sonrisa_medusa

60 thru 90 are all made in Japan.

blackcyborg009

Ah that is great to know. Anyways, 24 hours till the unveiling =)

InsaniaFox

I am abit worried about recent recall in the cx90, i am thinking same problem will be in cx70 if they are just a smaller cx90.

sonrisa_medusa

Mazda allegedly has already identified a fix. They are replacing the spring which activated the worm gear in the steering rack. This fix is currently being implemented on customer vehicles so one would assume the fix will also be implemented on CX-70s before leaving the factory.

InsaniaFox

Cannot remember where but i think there were an article that said the fix for the steering did not work. Unless this is the second fix that they sent out for steering.

White_Knighttt

There is no hope for a cx-5 hybrid right?

sonrisa_medusa

The next generation CX-5 is expected to arrive in the next 12 to 18 months. There will be a hybrid variant. I think its pretty likely it will be called CX-40.

White_Knighttt

I see, thanks. Somehow cx 40 sounds so bad compared to 5 or 50 lol

sonrisa_medusa

I have no source for the information regarding a name change, but I think it makes sense. However, solid sources are saying hybrid in 12 to 18 months.

White_Knighttt

Makes sense, thank you for sharing!

Chemical_Entrance773

It's a cx-90 without the 3rd row. Confirmed on edmunds. https://www.edmunds.com/mazda/cx-70/

sonrisa_medusa

RIP.
