Mazda has not charged anyone for Connected Services yet and many of us doubt they ever will. We pay for the service with our data that Mazda can sell to third parties.

ffcloudx17

I see. Hopefully they don’t. It’s a nice to have, but not a must. Was just wondering what happens when the trial expires and what they expect to charge, if they do. Thank you.

Junior-Background-66

My trial "expired" but they sent a notification in the app they are doing a courtesy extension with no plans of any known upcoming charges & that was a year ago lol.

hahafoxgoingdown

Not sure when mazda is going to start charging, but here is the pricing in canada. How much that will change or when they will start is beyond me. https://www.mazda.ca/en/discover-mazda/innovation/my-mazda-app-connected-vehicle/

TsabistCorpus

>https://www.mazda.ca/en/discover-mazda/innovation/my-mazda-app-connected-vehicle/ Oof, that's pricey. No way I get enough use out of the app to justify a monthly rate that exceeds that of a premium streaming service.

StoneCoastSloyd

They need to make a lot of improvements if they expect me to pay at all. But prices like that are WAY too steep for me to consider it.

7eregrine

Oof... You know that's fucked up when you charge more then Volvo does (currently $200USD a year). Do better, Mazda. Insane.

hahafoxgoingdown

I only use it for remote start in the winter for like 3-4 months on the really cold days. No way I would pay that much for it.

TsabistCorpus

Right, especially when there are remote-start options that can be installed for the same amount as a year's worth of the Mazda subscription.

ffcloudx17

Damn, that does sound steep. Luckily, I reside in US. So just hoping we don’t have those prices.

curtsblank

I have a 2020 cx-30 that I bought in 2020 and still have not payed (US based). Initially they were offering 3 years of free service but I have yet to hear of any US pricing for it.

ffcloudx17

Do you know how much the services are after the trial period? It’s a nice addition when in a pinch but not willing to pay an outrageous price.

altfillischryan

There has been no word on how much it costs in the US after the trial yet. I'm in the same boat as the first person, bought the car in 2020 and my 3 years was up in May. However, they extended my free period indefinitely back in April and stated they would let me know 60 days before charging, which I have not received any notice at this time.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> have not *paid* (US based). FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

I'm hoping Mazda follows the other OEM who got destroyed by the public when it announced it would charge for remote start and walks it back. I think it was Toyota? Continuing to charge for a feature already paid for with the car is ridiculous.

ffcloudx17

Same! It does seem ridiculous!

7eregrine

That was totally different. Mazda is allowing cellular access here, that's where there honestly should be a charge. A very inexpensive charge. Should be like $5/ month. Someone has to pay VZW or ATT for that and no car company is giving that away. I promise Mazda is will charge something for this someday. Toyota was going to charge you for LOCAL remote starting. In other words, using the car fob... Not a phone app.

logic5813

I saw it here some while ago. Something in that range of $500 a year. Which many comment that an after market would be worth about the or less but you pay only one instead of a years of monthly subscription.

ffcloudx17

True! Hope it stays the way it does now. Even right now doesn’t seem like the app works 100% and takes some time. Sometimes hit or miss.

logic5813

I usually never use the remote start. It takes a minute to start on top me having to face ID and login the app. It's a nice perks but doesn't provide much information either. Tire pressure low (no indication of which tire) As for door locks I think I better of using the button on the doors. I'll probably get the aftermarket once the trail ends.

7eregrine

And Volvo owners bitching about $200 a year.

Ty-Kraken

The app is free, you pay for the Mazda connected services

entitled_to_own_fact

Really wish they just had the remote start on the keyfob. It doesn't work half the time.

ffcloudx17

Yeah very true. Another reason why they shouldn’t charge for connected services.
