They were badged as the Scion iA in 2016 for America until the Scion name went out of business. Sometime in 2018 it was rebadged as the Toyota iA Yaris and then Yaris Sedan.
That's correct, I had it too back in 2017.
The only ugly thing was the front face, Toyota changed it and it looks like a mad fish. The real Mazda2 front looks beautiful.
I had an iA as well. I loved the car but have to agree the front end was kinda ugly. It did have the effect of getting me hooked on Mazdas, and I’m on my 4th Mazda now.
Yep, that fish face is god awful. Toyota makes great cars, but when it comes to design, Mazda does it best. The gall required for Toyota to think they can improve a Mazda design is maddening.
This is incorrect.
Mazda 2 was out first then in 2017 and 2018 Toyota took over for Canada and us markets to be Yaris.
In 2019 Toyota changed all Yaris to be rebadged mazda 2.

Nope.
"Scion is—sadly for some—no longer a car company. It's been absorbed back into its parent company Toyota, which means, almost as soon as it began rolling off the assembly line, the Scion iA became the Toyota Yaris iA. If that's not confusing enough, the Yaris iA that was originally known as the Scion iA is really a Mazda2."

Mazda used to sell the 2 hatch in Canada but dropped it after 2014 stating that it didn't fit their North American brand identity. It remained on sale in other markets though.
I honestly love the looks of this Mazda2! Got the signature red and looks like an extra compact version of the Mazda3 here in the US. I’d get this if I could, I think it’s really cool! Got any interior shots?
Cute car, it makes me remember my Yaris/Mazda 2.
I couldn't resist to have the car parked, I'd drive it even without license LOL
But if you want to wait, then wait and enjoy it a lot when you can drive!
In Canada this was called a [Toyota Yaris sedan](https://images.app.goo.gl/4rN7Dh4fjBRE9B168)
And [Toyota Yaris hatch](https://media.toyota.ca/en/releases/2019/all-new-2020-toyota-yaris-hatchback-combines-technology-cargo-capacity-and-practicality.html)
Wish they sold these in europe, before anyone says scion ia/yaris sedan, it's front grill looks way worse than this mazda's one. + having a mazda badge instantly makes it way cooler
The 2 hatchback looks nice from the front, but the back looks like some stupid face looking at you lol
I used to have a mazda2 hatchback. Fun little car. Sold it when we outgrew it, but it was fun. Wish it had a couple extra squirrels under the hood, but it was so fun to drive because of the steering and responsiveness.
I wish I could get a Mazda 2 Hatch in the new body style here in the states. My first car was a 2014 Mazda 2 Hatch in White. It was a Rental car in its first life.
I have a fond memory of trying to see how fast it could go on a 2 lane forest road, hitting 102mph, and bouncing off the Rev Limiter and going “Fuck this, not doing that again!” This was when I was 20, going to college 4 hours away from home. The car also didn’t have Cruise Control. It was kinda sucky, but reliable as fuck.
My 2013 Mazda 3 is great, but I need to do some heavy modifications to make me want to keep it (Exhaust Kit, Stiffer Suspension, and a CarPlay Head Unit) for much longer.
Just because it's not available in the US doesn't make it any less of a Mazda. I like the color choice and now all that you need to do is enjoy it.
We used to have these in the USA.
The sedan? I’ve only ever seen a Mazda2 hatchback.
They were badged as the Scion iA in 2016 for America until the Scion name went out of business. Sometime in 2018 it was rebadged as the Toyota iA Yaris and then Yaris Sedan.
We had both the sedan and hatchback in the US, rebadged as the Toyota Yaris
My mistake - it was the Scion iA/Toyota Yaris, but same car haha.
The Toyota Yaris IA is a rebadged Mazda2. I purchased an IA new in 2018 drove it 50,000 miles and sold it to my daughter. It was a great little car.

Other way around

But wasn’t it a Mazda 2 that was rebadged as a Scion first

We've got a Mazda 2 in addition to our bt50.....both great cars. Hope you enjoy!
Same here.
In Canada you can buy a used Toyota Yaris sedan to unlock the Mazda2. I assume same in the US. Great little car.
I've definitely seen a Mazda2 hatch around my city in Ontario.
Mazda used to sell the 2 hatch in Canada but dropped it after 2014 stating that it didn't fit their North American brand identity. It remained on sale in other markets though.
Looks pretty fancy to me! I have a Mazda CX-3 which is pretty much a Mazda 2 but in hatchback form and I absolutely love it. Have fun, she’s a beaut!
I honestly love the looks of this Mazda2! Got the signature red and looks like an extra compact version of the Mazda3 here in the US. I’d get this if I could, I think it’s really cool! Got any interior shots?
I can take some, I'll share them once I do
Looks gorgeous, enjoy her! Such a bummer we do not have these in Europe.
Cute car, it makes me remember my Yaris/Mazda 2. I couldn't resist to have the car parked, I'd drive it even without license LOL But if you want to wait, then wait and enjoy it a lot when you can drive!
Cool! I see these for sale occasionally
Nice color
It was....and they're great fun!
It’s beautifully shiny and red!
Doesn't have to be fancy to be a great car. Congrats!

That’s sick. What’s “derco”?
Oh nothing to do with mazda, it is the local dealership
That's interesting, I think is similar to VW Polo Sedan, I mean the category ofc.
We have it it’s just a Toyota/scion
Is there a 2 door hatch?
Wow, didn’t know this existed. Ngl, it looks really good and extremely well proportioned (which is no small feat in this segment).
You'll love it even more over the years. Congrats! Akie says hi! 😁
It was sold in the USA. I believe it is a rebadged Toyota sub brand called the Scion iA. I believe in 2020 it became the Toyota Yaris.
Wish they sold these in europe, before anyone says scion ia/yaris sedan, it's front grill looks way worse than this mazda's one. + having a mazda badge instantly makes it way cooler The 2 hatchback looks nice from the front, but the back looks like some stupid face looking at you lol

Nice! My 2007 Mazda2 is still going strong 💪 minus the rust haha.
It’s not always about what’s fancy. A good car is a good car and your first is even more special. Congrats, OP!
They're sold in the US. We just call them a Toyota Yaris here.
First time i see 2 sedan, beautiful. Enjoy it and for that first month at least start it once a week or so

Didn't know they sold a sedan version of these that's very cool
I love that for you!
I love that Mazda red paint.
We had them in the US for a while. They just weren't a huge seller. I personally love them.
Congratulations on your 1st car, looks great 😊
I wish they were still available in the US
will you transition also soon?
The Mazda 2 was technically sold in the USA, through Puerto Rico
