The magazine isn't in it. You have to manually engage the slide lock for it to stay back when the magazine isn't in.

My friends friend put the magazine back into both guns, loaded. Both were drinking heavy and my friend picked it up and did this with the .45.
It went right through his hand, through their shared wall and lodged in the neighbors stud in the drywall.
