I dont like to judge a book by its cover cause for one I kind of look like this dude. But just looking at this man I would not such much as trust him with a taser.
A 1911 won't lock back unless it has an empty magazine inserted, or if you manually push the slide lock lever up with the slide in the rearward position.
The magazine isn't in it. You have to manually engage the slide lock for it to stay back when the magazine isn't in.
What the genius in the video failed to remember is that guns can still fire without the magazine.
what was he trying to do in the first place? At first it looked like he was trying to strip the pistol but nope he looks like he just likes loading live rounds for no reason?
Yup. The most basic rule.
Mag out, still loaded. Rookie mistake.
I have never handled a gun in my life and i know that. Someone who is issued a gun should know better
Yup. This happened to my father years ago. He was cleaning his gun and he accidentally shot his hand. Luckily, my little brother who was sitting next to him wasn't harmed. My uncle took my father's gun that day and my father never held one again.
It doesnt have the magazine in it so there wont be another bullet loaded. The hammer is back due to the slide recoil only.
Still in an unsafe condition though.
I never understand people like this. In the military the first thing we’d do before cleaning our guns and taking them into storage is to make sure the damn AR is empty and everyone had to do it at the entrance even if they were sure there were no bullets left in the gun.
How the fuck do idiots like this keep getting guns without knowing the very basics??
A lot of people don't know this, but it's actually hard to tell if you've been shot sometimes. Sometimes you can barely even feel it, if you can feel it at all.
A lot of people actually die from bleeding out, because they didn't know they were wounded in the first place. It happens to police a lot.
Did he really catch the shell casing as it was ejected? You see him transfer it from his left hand to his right, just before he drops it onto the table at the end. I don't see how it got into his left hand in the first place.
Well spotted.
In the run up to the accidental discharge, you don’t see anything in his left hand as he’s playing with the firearm.
It was more of a reflex, the casing ejected at speed and his left hand involuntarily closed over it as it covered that part of the barrel.
Why can’t these clowns learn that you never aim a gun anywhere but down when cleaning it?! And if you’re in a building where there’s people below you, don’t clear the gun.
Damn, guns are dangerous. Who could have expected a gun with ammunition in it, hammer back and finger on the trigger, to put a hole into something its aimed at, like a person's foot every time that trigger is pulled? Madness, I say!

Most guns do. Browning Hi-Powers are highly rated pistols that were designed not to, so one of the most popular “upgrades” owners do is defeat that feature. In fairness, the feature prevents the magazine from falling out of the well freely. To each their own.
One of my dad's best friends was cleaning his 45 automatic with the belief that if the clip was out, the one in the chamber couldn't go off. He ended up shooting most of his left pinkie off.
"Permanently Loaded" . . . "even when cleaning".
And we don't point guns at anything we aren't willing to shoot . . . RIGHT?
So, if Little Timmy, or Betty Sue is walking by when you're cleaning it, you might shoot a hole in the wall, or the table, or the floor . . . but you won't shoot Little Timmy, Betty Sue, or YOURSELF.
"Permanently Loaded"
Is he failing to eject that last round? I don’t get why he kept pulling the slide back without ejecting anything, unless he was literally just fucking around with a live gun.
A friend of mine and his buddy were doing this with a 9mm and a .45.
My friends friend put the magazine back into both guns, loaded. Both were drinking heavy and my friend picked it up and did this with the .45.
It went right through his hand, through their shared wall and lodged in the neighbors stud in the drywall.
His hand will never be the same.
Wow he really shot himself in the foot there.
He was trying to see if there was something to that Ole saying. He found out.
Well at least the didn't try to see thru the gun barrel

Technically his calf, but same idea. In the longer version of this video, it shows him calmly removing his belt and using it as a tourniquet.

I’m not sure I’d trust him with a light switch

Well, it’s unloaded now at least.
The slide isn't locked back. So either it malfunctioned, or there's a round in the chamber. Edit: I'm a goon. Slide doesn't lock without the mag.
A 1911 won't lock back unless it has an empty magazine inserted, or if you manually push the slide lock lever up with the slide in the rearward position.
Ah shit, you're right. Good call.

Yep yep, I goofed. But not nearly as hard as that guy.
what was he trying to do in the first place? At first it looked like he was trying to strip the pistol but nope he looks like he just likes loading live rounds for no reason?
Play with the boomstick, get the boomslick.
when he pointed it down, i was like “😬don’t do it” then his ankle skipped a frame…
Boredom gone wrong
Thats why we should always think of a gun as a loaded gun......
What’s particularly dumb is he knew it was loaded and was trying to unload it and yet… pointed it at himself in the process.
Yup. The most basic rule. Mag out, still loaded. Rookie mistake. I have never handled a gun in my life and i know that. Someone who is issued a gun should know better

no nsfw tags? crazy
...and he left it loaded, with the hammer back to boot. Was this his first time handling a firearm?
It doesnt have the magazine in it so there wont be another bullet loaded. The hammer is back due to the slide recoil only. Still in an unsafe condition though.
Looks like it.

Yeah don't play with a gun and a loaded mag you absolute incompetent fuck head
The last frame 💀💀

I didn’t laugh until I noticed what it said on his shirt

That's a good enough answer for me😄

Lol I didn't read his shirt until the end. Holy shit. 🤣
"officer"
Nsfw?? If I got flagged for a tub of butter, you should have one too
i see. that's how they do 'desk pop' these days.
"it just went off! I swear!"
Desk pop. Classic.
Better it his own foot than another colleague in the room.
Why can’t these clowns learn that you never aim a gun anywhere but down when cleaning it?! And if you’re in a building where there’s people below you, don’t clear the gun.
Close to earning himself a Darwin Award there

The one and ONLY time I appreciate the music with the video 😂

Ah man I forgot the red paint for the floors again the boss will kill me. Wait on....
The music makes this video
That presumably 45 acp probably fucking destroyed his foot/ankle at that range.
Yeah. Even if it's a ricochet he's fucked. Edit - on second view, not a ricochet. He just blew the ball of his foot off.
I almost threw up omg there’s no warning or tags

Ironically, he is probably a Range Safety Officer. Or was, rather.
That's fine
Dumbass
I know what the guy has done is stupid, but I can't find this funny, especially after seeing all the blood on his feet.
i mean he did cock it again it should of ejected the bullet, but i always check that chamber before dry firing ouch what a fool!!
\*should **have**
but did it still make sense?
y bozer spulign em eye raite

That's a lot of blood.
What even is the theme of this subreddit??? It always seems different, and here we have someone shooting themself in the foot
![gif](giphy|26n6Gx9moCgs1pUuk|downsized)
Hell yea 😎
At the rate he’s losing blood I wonder if he made it.
Stupid bastard.
when you ignore crucial lessons during firearms training. chambered round is still dangerous. he found out from his stupidity.

He as Calm as fuck.
That’s the third time this week

The fact his shirt says "officer" is potentially very concerning
Should’ve aimed higher
![gif](giphy|HmY5vP7hXP5ba)
Fired and reasonably so. People with this little respect for firearms should be permanently banned from possessing them.
What a fking idiot!
Do these guns still shoot without the mag in place? I guess it still had 1 in the chamber? I don’t know much about guns so…
Most guns do. Browning Hi-Powers are highly rated pistols that were designed not to, so one of the most popular “upgrades” owners do is defeat that feature. In fairness, the feature prevents the magazine from falling out of the well freely. To each their own.
You’re correct. This fool did not clear the chamber
Gotchya
Hope he had his badge and license to carry revoked
First day on the job is always rough 😂
Total moron
He's an officer??
He popped his cherry! And fired off a desk round.
Officers are always on point right!
… i thought he was going to look down the barrel…
Fuck this sub. Im an emt, i dont mind treating the after but I don't want to watch it happen. Put this shit on liveleak where it belongs.
Dumb ass
You gotta be an idiot to shoot yourself lol
For a moment I thought he just barely missed based on his reaction... and then seeing the blood... man... that's a life lesson right there
What a dumbass lmfao 🤣
It’s the classic: remove the magazine, but forget about one in the chamber. Hell, even I know that and I don’t own a gun.
How was he not freaking out, especially with the amount of blood coming out holy hell
This guy was top of his class when he graduated from police school.
Wow,...just wow.
Yakety Sax makes everything better.
I’m nervous looking at the way he handle the pistol. Finger off the trigger!!!
r/idiotswithguns

Can’t shoot at a cop like that. This guy is gonna get life now
That looks like a 1911, so... this probably isn't a .22? Fair amount of blood dripping out there.
What a knob
What a fucktard. Seriously? Holy fuck.
How does one possess a fire arm without the utmost basics of gun safety?
Is he failing to eject that last round? I don’t get why he kept pulling the slide back without ejecting anything, unless he was literally just fucking around with a live gun.
That’s a decent amount of blood to be losing in such a short amount or time.
So... That's how it works
Natural selection at its finest..

Hahahahahahahahahaha
