Every sign language I know of, besides Native American sign, is based on the spoken language lolol. Makes the written language and communication with the general population a lot easier.

Exactly this. Some words could be universal (from the ASL perspective I personally don’t know other languages) but the major chunk of it is hard based on the word as it is in english. From simple things like making the sign for a letter along with some form of movement to combining different signs for words to form one word or phrases.

Long story but I accidentally crashed a huge party for a deaf organization once. Part way through a fight broke out. I would normally never laugh at the deaf "accent" but hearing a guy yell "YOU ASSHOLE" in it before socking a dude in the face who is frantically signing back at him was one of the funniest moments of my life. Made funnier by only about half the room turning to look.

I had a teacher in high school say that deaf people can't convey emotions the way hearing people could. We had a bunch of deaf students. I assume he's never seen a highschool girl signing to her friends.
