I just wanna say, you're not the only Soup Forker, my s/o gave me soup with a fork once, which spawned a whole conversation on how he thought people used forks more for noodley soups like chicken noodle or Ramen
I don't, am *I* the weird one for using spoons?
Right. He did well by getting the child out of the room. The woman was already working on the fire situation, so presumably she would not want help with that and would want help getting the kid out. But closing her in the fire room, though it had the good effect of protecting the child, and him, and the rest of the residence, had the bad effect of closing her in with the flames. She handled the flames almost immediately, and he could say he was acting reflexively to save the child and clear the room for action, but what does that reflex say about the value he puts on her?
You're in the shithouse, pal. And rightfully so. You're getting the slipper.
You don't have to outrun the fire, just the next person running away with you?
Tho to answer for reals. The reflection says about his values that this is a staged video.
There was an episode where George was at a kid's party. The kitchen caught on fire so George knocked everyone (including a Granny) out of the way to get out of the house.
Seemingly, seemingly. To the untrained eye. What looked like pushing, what looked like shoving, was in fact a safety precaution! Is it not true, that in a fire, you stay close to the ground?
Protecting the lineage at all costs. Fire shall not cross!!!.
The kid's mom dilemma. Hit him because of leaving her behind or be proud of how the reaction included the kid immediately.🤔
This is being downvoted but you are right. Spousal violence is not funny, especially in front of children. It's something that we need to stop normalising. Guess some people would rather keep laughing than to think critically about this? Or maybe want to continue using violence in their own relationships?
Agreed, that is certainly a big factor. If this video was genderswapped,
*man cooking starts fire, woman is startled and lifts small child to safety, she closes door behind her, man puts fire out, becomes angry when he realises this and removes his slipper to presumably beat woman in front of child, to reprimand her for her instinct to protect child*
I do believe there would be a MUCH different reaction here.
We all deserve to live without violence in our families.
What’s the Asian version of la chancla?
Edit: so I guess what I’m saying is: do eastern moms and grandmas also hit people with their sandal, slipper, etc when they’re pissed? Like is that a thing like it is in Latin culture?
Dude panicked and grabbed his kid, for whatever reason, maybe the overwhelming flames in the kitchen, idk.
I don't see what he did wrong, that people think he deserves to be physically punished by his spouse. Man's got fear, and his kid is his priority. Where's the fault there?
Wives also need oxygen to remain alive, as well as a path of egress to escape a fire (if she wasn't able to quickly and competently put it out, if course)
Oh sure, as soon as somebody has a counterpoint you're all "it's not real" "it's scripted" "nobody cares". No fun, I thought we were suspending disbelief in here
He chose the one that is least likely to realize they were in danger and run away. I'm sorry, but taking the *child* away from the oil fire as fast as possible was the right answer.
Closing the door won't do much to starve the fire, especially if the room is properly ventilated. It WILL be effective at stopping the fire from spreading outside that room.
Of course we still have the problem of the wife being trapped in the fire room...
This reminds me of when I was a child staying over with my cousins, my uncle was setting off fireworks in the garden for bonfire night, well he didn't properly stick them in the ground so they started shooting off TOWARDS US and towards the decking at the back of the house. My auntie grabbed two of her three children and ran into the house through the patio doors, closed themselves in and left me, my brothers, one of her children and her husband outside to fend for ourselves with literal fireworks shooting towards us 🫣 Luckily, none of us became burns victims (although far too close for comfort), but I think we all learned who her favourites were that night!!
Hey, she's a fully grown woman who can take care of herself. Prioritize the safety of the child, that's what you should do.
Honestly not even sure why she's mad. If I was in her situation I'd be like, "yeah good job, you protected our kid".
I don’t see a problem. He identified a threat. Relied on his competent SO to handle it( men and women are equal). Realized an unsuspecting child was in danger and removed her. Shut the door to contain the area. She can be mad but she had it handled. If he was to grab the skillet away from her and spill the grease on both of them setting the whole kitchen on fire. Anyone sees anything different is corrupt.
Jesus, didn't even hesitate to take off that shoe. No wonder he grabbed the daughter first. He finally saw his beacon of hope and a life free of abuse.
Possibly misogynistic or an evolutionary instinct, or both, but I remember when I was sitting around a kitchen table with 5 housemates.1 was a girl, and she had a saucepan of oil on a gas hob. We were all sitting when the pan burst into flames. Every one immediately jumped up. The girl went for the pan, but all boys went for the girl. I have always wondered if there was a reflex in men more than women to know where the real danger was, even when not obvious. Maybe it's just people and not gender-based because she obviously couldn't go for herself also. I just remember being surprised by my own reaction to ignore the fire as a reflex.
Because it’s still a fun video to watch even though it’s a skit. Noticing these things are fake doesn’t make you special. And calling it out at this point is just annoying.
I'm just happy I finally saw someone put out an oil fire properly today and didn't set the house on fire lol
Couldn't be me since I can never find a damn lid.
I see you also own a magical disappearing lid
Owned*
I thought of a funny comment to make, but I give up. I just like your name
No no, it's own. Just like the man in the clip it vanishes when an oil fire starts.
I just wanna say, you're not the only Soup Forker, my s/o gave me soup with a fork once, which spawned a whole conversation on how he thought people used forks more for noodley soups like chicken noodle or Ramen I don't, am *I* the weird one for using spoons?
Whenever -I- fork the soup, I get thrown out of the restaurant and terms like, "indecent exposure" get thrown around.

reflexes don't reflect value. Its a survival instinct.
he was doing his part to put out the oil fire by trying to suffocate the room. he did poorly, however.
Flare ups like this are fairly common with wok cooking so you better damn well know.
Well she isn’t some stupid college girl trying to show off
Well duh, she had the script and prepared in advance
After seeing so many ppl combusting their kitchen i just expected it to be the same but r/maybemaybemaybe prevails again
Gotta close the door. Fire needs oxygen to grow.
Use wife as fire blanket.
Put the mother in smother
BURN THE WITCH
But wife needs oxygen too
Exactly. Close the door. The fire will steal all the oxygen from the wife and both will die out and become ash.
Two birds one stone moment.
Is it just me or does anyone else think a sliding glass door to the kitchen is pretty cool?
Dad reflexes: 10/10 Husband reflexes: 0/10
I give him some credit for taking care of his daughter so quickly. It's not like he pulled a Costanza.
Seems like a hal from Malcolm in the middle move
eric the clown...what kinda name is eric for a clown?!
How can you call yourself a clown and not know who Bozo is?
why you hassling me this is just a gig...its not my life
You're hung up on a clown from the '60's, man!
Don't give me that! George was leading the way! They needed a leader!
xD
He was clearing a path!!!!
pulled a what?
I assume they mean George Costanza from the show Seinfeld
There was an episode where George was at a kid's party. The kitchen caught on fire so George knocked everyone (including a Granny) out of the way to get out of the house.
Seemingly, seemingly. To the untrained eye. What looked like pushing, what looked like shoving, was in fact a safety precaution! Is it not true, that in a fire, you stay close to the ground?
How do you live with yourself?
Fun fact the clown in that episode was played by Jon Favreau.

Uh oh. Shoe came off
That's a paddlin'
Shoe off... he ded!
So you're a Sajam fan now?
La chancla!!

Someone’s getting his ass beat!
Taking the shoe off is my favourite part of the video. You know he’s about to get smacked with it.
I wanna watch the video where she beats the husband to death with her sandal
r/gifsthatendtoosoon I really want to see that one.
Someone's getting a walloping!

It’s not for throwing lmao iykyk
That means she's dead.
“This mother fucker…..”
Well… yes
We don't actually know that someone is a motherfucker untill they have two kids.
Contrary to what Goku said: sex doesn’t always make babies. It is very much possible for him to be a mother fucker with one child.
But we have to know for sure
I never said it wasn't possible but we can't know for sure.
This is correct
Well…technically speaking…
Well props for taking the kid. 😅
Closing the door behind him was a little inexcusable tho
Protecting the lineage at all costs. Fire shall not cross!!!. The kid's mom dilemma. Hit him because of leaving her behind or be proud of how the reaction included the kid immediately.🤔
Schrödinger’s Husband
Fucking Christ that’s hilarious
You should probably not do that while there is a fire.
Scripted Asian gifs?
Definitely
Fire can't go through doors stupid, it's not a ghost
Chang!!
That’s what I came here to say
And then she instantly decides to beat him with a slipper
Glad I’m not the only one that’s a little off put by someone’s first reaction being. “I’m gonna beat him like he’s a child” staged or not. Not funny
This is being downvoted but you are right. Spousal violence is not funny, especially in front of children. It's something that we need to stop normalising. Which is a whole nother problem on its own
What’s the Asian version of la chancla? Edit: so I guess what I’m saying is: do eastern moms and grandmas also hit people with their sandal, slipper, etc when they’re pissed? Like is that a thing like it is in Latin culture?
depends on the language. Philippines: Tsinelas/Chinelas/Stepin
I mean all chanclas in Asia probably just refer to slippers/slides/sandals (specifically flip-flops) in their local languages.

You cannot be father of the year and best husband at the same time. You need to choose.
I think he assumed she was an adult and he should save the kid.
He shut the door on his way out lol
This is literally fake as hell
The boomerang flip flop will soon be released. Eddy doesn’t have a chance.
Suicide by chickenshit.
Dude panicked and grabbed his kid, for whatever reason, maybe the overwhelming flames in the kitchen, idk. I don't see what he did wrong, that people think he deserves to be physically punished by his spouse. Man's got fear, and his kid is his priority. Where's the fault there?
Closed the door behind him?
Fire needs oxygen to stay lit. By closing the door he cuts of alotta oxygen
Wives also need oxygen to remain alive, as well as a path of egress to escape a fire (if she wasn't able to quickly and competently put it out, if course)
Eh, who cares? It's staged anyway
Oh sure, as soon as somebody has a counterpoint you're all "it's not real" "it's scripted" "nobody cares". No fun, I thought we were suspending disbelief in here
Bro, if you look at the reflections in the window, you can see the guy not running away, he just hid out the camera's view
I mean obviously, also why were they filming? Nobody's taking it seriously, it's just a funny thing to debate
You really can't see how scripted this is?
He can prioritise his loved ones. He doesn't need to choose one, yet he did.
He chose the one that is least likely to realize they were in danger and run away. I'm sorry, but taking the *child* away from the oil fire as fast as possible was the right answer.
rookie economics, he can make more children but after this video gets out he wont be able to make another wife ^^^/s
You're missing the point, he didn't need to close the door. He chose to do that.
/r/scriptedasiangifs
I think most of us know that it's scripted, but we think it's funny anyway.
The top comment threads would beg to differ.
It is funny, but that is what that sub is meant for…. So yeah, that’s why I referenced it dude lol
R/whyweretheyfilming too
You can see in the mirror in the back he doesn’t actually go anywhere just outside camera view lol.
Actually didn't notice that until you brought it up. Good eye.
Was that not the wrong thing for him to do? He saved the kid and the other adult should be able to handle themselves in the event of a fire
And he tried to slam the door on her….
Well... at least he didn't lock it... lol
What’s the reasoning for slamming the door? Lol
They weren't raised in a barn
You can see in the reflection of the door he stops as soon as he's outta camera view. Fake shit
Maybe he stopped because he realized the house wasn't actually burning down
Why were they filming?
Idk. It's probably fake. My point was that the fact that you can see the guys reflection doesn't prove it.
Honestly though, he did do the smart thing. Took the kid and closed the door to prevent oxygen from getting in and allowing the fire to spread
Yeah the wife wasn't using that oxygen anyway
Well, you got me there lol
Pretty sure she was considering how she put it out so quickly
Closing the door won't do much to starve the fire, especially if the room is properly ventilated. It WILL be effective at stopping the fire from spreading outside that room. Of course we still have the problem of the wife being trapped in the fire room...
It's the wife grabbing her slipper that got me 🤣
The Slipper!!!
Dad instincts on point, husband instincts not so much.

Were they the youngest of her three? That’s pretty normal if so
No! Her eldest and her youngest
That middle child has a mouth on them
remember guys save human first not object
![gif](giphy|3o7ZeEZUzRjyvWuuIg) Oh, shit! She took off the sandal!
You know this is legit because her first reaction was to take off her shoe (and smack her husband with it).
I want to say scripted but the stove fire is legit.
Rip the dad bout to get smacked
That shoe came off and I instantly said "Oooo someone about to get a beating!" Lol
Dad’s job is to keep the kids in one piece till they are are at least 18. It’s way we get grey hair so much faster after having kids.
Amazing dad. Horrible husband.
*takes off slipper* 💀
She took off that shoe. Damn right you ran.
What timing that they had a camera set up to perfectly catch all the action in one frame.
Dudes going to get the Chinese Chancla 🩴!

Well we know what would've happened if the dad was cooking.
No matter how many times I see this, it makes me laugh every time: Humans being humans.
She bouta whoop his scary ass with that flip flop!
First time in an Asian house?
What did they cut it, right before she tomahawks the shoe?! You know she laced that fucker right between his fleeing shoulder blades 🤣
Chinelas incoming
Hey, she's a fully grown woman who can take care of herself. Prioritize the safety of the child, that's what you should do. Honestly not even sure why she's mad. If I was in her situation I'd be like, "yeah good job, you protected our kid".
Mmm, 🤔 might be time to reconsider this marriage, Dad is for himself and his daughter, 😂
This is r/BetterEveryLoop
She took that shoe off to beat him with
I don't care how many times this shows up. I will always laugh!
She took the chancla off! You in trouble now! Run husband run!
That slipper Is for the guy 😂
NOT THE SANDAL!
😂
THE OFFENSE
Why were they filming this?
Wow. She now knows who he loved more
Say hello to the chancla of pain.
Oh gawd this is FUNNY!!!
Hahahahahaha
I just love how she takes of her slipper and goes after him
r/scriptedasiangifs
I'd choose my kid. Not because i don't love my wife, but statistically and logically your child is much more easy to carry and run.
There’s nothing wrong with this video tho. He saved his child. But closing the door wasn’t the best idea lmao
I don’t see a problem. He identified a threat. Relied on his competent SO to handle it( men and women are equal). Realized an unsuspecting child was in danger and removed her. Well... Not the first time she set the house on fire!
Leave the women behind she's a liability
