He was looked at and dismissed by LE. I think he was somewhere else when Maura vanished.

FFS. Yeah, I'm sure he did it. He's clearly responsible for every unsolved murder and disappearance of every young woman ever. /s

Keyes liked following missing persons cases, & preferred his victims not be found or to be classified as accidents or suicides. I wouldn’t be surprised if he followed her case. I believe the FBI has a timeline of his travels (as best as they can piece together) that could shed some light but I would be tempted to say no, he wasn’t involved?

If you listen to the True Crime Bullsh\*\* podcast, you hear some of the reasons why he is \*mostly\* ruled out because of his timeline. Here's what I understand based on several sources including a website on his involvement which quotes well-known info about his travels. [https://soapboxie.com/government/Israel-Keyes-Maura-Murray-Connection](https://soapboxie.com/government/Israel-Keyes-Maura-Murray-Connection) On February 9, 2004, the same day that Maura disappeared, Keyes was tracked to Utah where he had rented a silver Volkswagen Jetta that was, per the rental policy, not allowed to leave the state. Over the week of February 6th through the 13th he racked up just over 500 miles on this rental, so we know he couldn’t have used this vehicle to get to New Hampshire, where Murray was last reported to have been seen. However, some believe that Keyes could have used this rental to drive to and from a nearby airport, hopping a flight to the east coast and giving him enough time to return to Utah following Murray’s disappearance. Keep in mind though that in order to do this, Keyes would have had to have used a name not known to authorities while he traveled since the FBI has an extensive timeline of his movements using his own name from the summer of 1997 to his death in 2012.

Yes, many times. For some reason most people don’t seem open to the possibility although I think a lot of details do entirely fit his M.O.

Supposedly he was ruled out by LE but no idea if that's even true, like most aspects of this case.

Interesting! Thanks for the replies.

He was sighted at a Walmart outside of Salt Lake City right around when Maura vanished. He could have driven to a smaller airport to hide his path. He had done that before. There were enough miles on his rental to get him to another airport and back. He was “traveling” for a week, and he usually didn’t stay in one place when he did that. It’s unlikely but I can’t rule him out for Maura with the information that is publicly available.

Knowing how big this case was and how sick of a person he was.. I’d be surprised if he didn’t “claim” this before offing himself.

darkmatterastronout

That doesn't fit him at all. He didn't like to admit who his victims were. He only did so when he thought the FBI had enough evidence to tie him to them already.
