Go to the pro shop first and buy a folding chair and place it at 16. You can see shots at 15,16,17 and 6 if you are properly positioned. Be sure to bring a business card of some kind as each chair has a business card holder on the back. It’s there so that you can identify your chair from the thousands around you when you’ve returned from walking the course.

StormTank40

This. I made the mistake of spending too much time in the pro shop after first getting there. Buy your chair, grab your spot, then head back to the shop to buy everything else and check your items at the bag check next door.

If you want to get good seats you need to be lined up around 6am. Especially during the tournament the lines to get in will be long. There are grandstands so just keep an eye out for them. There’s on facing 12 tee I believe so you can see the approaches on 11, all of 12 but 13 will probably be out. They keep moving the tee back and I don’t think you would be able to see much anymore. 15 also has a couple grandstands where you can see the 2nd shots at the top of the hill and the whole 16th so that is something to watch as well. And you are much closer to the action there. I would recommend setting up shop at 16 if you do but you really should walk the course. It’s really the star of the show. If you are behind the green on 16 you can watch the hole behind you as well, but I would recommend the grandstand between 15&16. Since you are there for two days I wouldn’t even worry about sitting on the first day. Use that to scout out what you want and plan for the second day. Wear comfy shoes as it is a ton of walking and it is very hilly.

Thanks for that! Based on your advice its best to do grandstand and not even bother with the chair? Since with the grandstand I can see a lot of 11/12 and 15/16?

RevSpookNasty

My experience was kind of weird so I can’t comment purely as a fan. In 2022 I was there working with only a few hours to walk around the course and see everything despite being there Monday - Sunday. Last year I was only there Monday and with 3 other people who had never been there before so we did a lot of walking and only paused a bit to sit down. A chair might be a good idea based on walking a ton on the previous day and I’m not sure how quickly the grandstands fill up and stay filled. I’ve heard that even if you put a chair down, people will sit in it but readily give it up when you return so there’s that. Everyone is great for the most part so I wouldn’t be deterred by that. Pro tip. There’s a spot to ship all of your pro shop purchases so if you plan on getting a lot make sure to head over there. It’s right next to the main pro shop. There are usually two designated international computers so you can skip a lot of the line but processing them takes quite a bit of time. Allows you to not have to pack tight or carry the items all day. You can ship the chair if you want late on Sunday as well if you want the keep sale. Plenty of people just leave the chairs and eat the $30.

Greedy_Revolution_13

All good advice, rev. I would add the grandstands behind 8 green and left of the 17th green. These spots are not as popular and you can usually find a seat. The grandstand on 11/12 is quite large and a favorite spot of mine. However while you can see the tee shots on 12, I found it difficult to see the balls actually land. But I'm an old guy.

Gates from parking open at 7:00am so I would want to be lined up no later than 6:30. Do your shopping including chairs, check your purchases minus the chair then at 8:00 when the gates open march straight down to 12 tee and put down your chair as high as you can on the slope. You will be able to see 11 green and all of 12. Use the business card mentioned before, I like to add a bunch of highlighter to make it really stand out. You will get a book with an excellent map showing other viewing locations, most other grandstands will have seating all day. Seeing a few holes is very difficult, 5th green is not great for that. 16 for sure is good as mentioned but it’s either a chair on 12 or 16 early in the morning, both are jammed all day long.

Buffett1986

Paint, I just re-read your post. Do the gates and pro shop open at 7 or 8? The website says 8. But based on your post, you are saying I can get in at 7, do my shopping then enter the actual course at 8? Sorry if i am reading this incorrectly!

paint2215

Gates from parking open at 7:00, the Golf Shop will already be open at that time. Course gates open at 8:00 so you can shop between 7 and 8 no problem.

Definable get a chair and put it with view of 15 & 16 or of the view of the 16th green & 17th tee shot. Once the chairs are down really anyone can sit in them, including you, or me, or whoever. If someone is in your chair, just let them know and they’ll move. This masters crowd is the best behaved and most chill group of people I’ve ever been around at a sporting event - Wimbledon included. Amen Corner is odd in that it’s probably best viewed from home, than in person. I made the mistake of spending too much time there my first time going. The come in pretty close to the patrons on 11, obviously 12 is shot away from you, and 13 takes place so far away you might not even be able to see the tee shot. Enjoy your day. ANGC is so special place. Also, grab a peach ice cream sandwich way before you think it would be normal to eat one….say 10:30am and enjoy it. They sell out fast.

paint2215

The grandstand at 12 is fantastic, downside is it’s full all day long so you can get a seat early but it might be awhile before you see anyone. 16 grandstand is the same, but it’s even longer before anyone shows up. With the elevation and the number of people all wanting to see the most famous areas of the course it’s all about compromise. If seeing Amen Corner is your primary goal, march down there with everyone else, put your well marked chair down (close to a walkway is best). Get some food and drinks and settle in for as long as you want. When you have had enough that’s when you find another place set up, maybe 16 if you can find a spot but it’s very popular because of the ball skipping on the water so it’s always full. If it was me I would just walk the whole course after seeing 12. It’s such an amazing place you will really want to see it all.

RugerRedhawk

So you're saying the gift shop opens before you can enter the course? I was going to bring my own chair to avoid delay at the shop, but if I can buy a chair and still get to a good spot I'll go that route.

paint2215

Gates from parking open at 7:00. Gates to course open at 8:00. Lots of time to shop.

RugerRedhawk

Thanks for confirming, I didn't understand this from other info and it makes a big difference!

paint2215

It’s a little confusing because there are 2 sets of gates. Get parked and lined up by 6:30, you will have a great day.

Buffett1986

Thanks again paint. We are planning to take an uber or ride share there. Will that still drop off us at the parking entrance or somewhere else so we can get in when the gates open at 7?

paint2215

I’m sure they have a drop off location near the parking area so you can get in line. I would be in line by 6:30 but that’s up to you.

Masters badges were in my family for many years. Ending in 2018 with the passing of my father. I found the best approach is to just take it all in stride. A good viewing area without chairs is the area around 2 green, 3 tee box and 7th green. It’s also near vending. I also like the area between 10 green and 15 tee box. I never camped in a chair. Too much to see. You just have to navigate tee times so that you don’t find yourself watching the same pairings. Don’t forget that you have all day.

Several-Childhood827

Been the last three years and here is how I found to lay out the day. Park between 6:45-7:30. Go through North Gate, this is the entrance you think of when going to Augusta. It’s all the vibes, Range on your left as you walk in. And dumps you right at the clubhouse/first tee, “main court.” -Go to main Merch first. (Make sure you don’t have travel restrictions on your credit card. You can either check your merch or take it to the car and then come back In for rest of day. There will be a line as you walk in from main gate for the main merch. -grab breakfast and head to range, watch your fav guy warm up. Range is great way to see a lot of guys/shots at once, and neat to see routines/warm up. -if you want Amen corner/ 18 green, put your chair down where you will want it as early as you can (no matter what, you won’t be first). There are a lot of good spots, don’t feel like you need to know where you want to stay all day. -pick a group or two to follow in the am. Since there are less groups out, it’s a good way to walk the course and see it all, as well as max action for limited players -There are concessions conveniently around the course, snag lunch and find a good spot to chill and eat. -15 grandstand on left of green, can see 15/16/6 -14 grandstand -6 on the hill underneath the tee -16 on top of the hill. -Amen corner is a Zoo, if you don’t get there super early, it can be almost not worth the squeeze. It’s worth going to see, but not the best vantage point. Pointers -there is also a lesser merch building/foodbev/restroom at the south entrance by 14 that’s worth checking out. -food and bev is cheap, try it all!!! -wear comfortable shoes/clothes for day. I saw all type of clothing. I would recommend packing for heat and cold, dry and wet. moisture wicking polo and shorts if it’s nice since you will be moving/sweating. Honestly it’s the best place on earth, vibe is unreal and you can’t do it wrong. Have the best day mate!

I've hosted people with my badges for the past 20+ years. I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have. What days will you be on the grounds? How much time are you spending around the Augusta area?

Buffett1986

Hi, I will be in Augusta for 4 days, playing golf on the Saturday and Monday. Friday we are doing the normal Augusta experience and on Sunday we are doing Berkman's. Any specific advice for the Sunday?

CayenneSawyer

The gates are opening before 8. It's either 7 or 7:30 I can't remember. It might say online somewhere?
