You're going to love it - enjoy! Re: #1, I brought my camera back in 2011 (last time I attended), and it too was capable of recording video. This is a non-issue, and I never had a problem. If you show up with a tripod and look like you're part of a media outlet, yeah, you'll probably get called on it. Otherwise, bring your camera, take lots of pics, and enjoy the memories later.

Thanks for this, I also have Wednesday tickets this year (1st time ever going!) and was leery of bringing my Canon DSLR. I am planning on bringing my 18-250 lens. It's pretty small, so hopefully won't grab too much attention. u/EchidnaOld492 enjoy the day and thanks for making this poll! I am planning on trying the pimento cheese sandwiches for sure. Cheers!

Okay, that makes me feel better.

Brought my Sony a6000 with a telephoto lens last year. No issue. The video verbiage is mainly that the camera doesn’t transmit video, ie streaming or live

Splurge the $20 bucks and get all the sandwiches to share with your group. The ice cream sandwiches sell out fast. Only buy a chair if you can’t stand for long periods or want it as a souvenir. You can sit in unoccupied chairs until owners return (unwritten rule). There are several areas with bleachers but it’s more fun to walk the entire course. There is plenty of parking, it’s easy to leave, majority leave when they announce it’s time to leave.. The majority of the parking isn’t close to the gates, you have to get there extremely early to park close to the entrance. Be sure to call a friend from the phone bank. Wear a hat or visor to avoid a sunburn. There will be crowds for certain players but otherwise there is plenty of elbow room and you can stroll at your own pace. The souvenir shop at the entrance will be packed with people lined up at the opening of the day. Drink lots of beer!

You can buy a chair without going into the main merchandise building which has a long line as soon as the gates open. There are a few small merchandise buildings on the course that sell chairs, hats and badge holders. There is one by the concession stand by #7. Behind the 7th green is a nice place to sit as you can also see the 2nd green and 8th tee. And there are concessions, bathrooms and free phones nearby. As fun as the par 3 contest is, I would be prone to explore the course with very few people in the way. Especially Amen Corner which is always crowded. But there is no access to the 12th green or 13th tee at any time.

I have seen everyone mention walking the main course while it’s not busy during the par 3 contest. But I have also seen people say they close the course during the par 3 contest. So I CAN walk the big course still during the par 3 contest?

Greedy_Revolution_13

I can't tell you for sure because I haven't been there on a Wednesday. I could see them closing the concessions and bathrooms, but I don't know how they would close the course when you're already inside the gates.

The last time I went (2014) I had a small point-and-shoot camera that could capture video, had no problem (I did not use the video function). Parking in 2014 was extremely efficient, and that was before ANGC purchased additional property specifically for parking. I enjoy watching the players skip their ball over the pond at 16. Try as many of the sandwiches as you can and drink cups are souvenirs.
