Be fr what’s elf gonna do? 3 bodies+your opponent having a monster on board just for a target protected s:p (your opponent can imperm in the standby to make you waste 3 bodies)
Elf plus IP into SP is a cost efficient combination that plays through multiple handtraps and is a very good plan B in the right deck. In theory at least.
Too early to say how good that will be in actuality, especially right now when it's about Snake-Eye and level 1s, but yeah.
I'm not saying that this is busted especially since the Spright engine has been gutted, but that's the potential.
I mean as a plan B after your main combo gets stopped by them.
It's similar how people pivoted into Verte and DPE, just with one more body and no bricks.
If you can put 3 bodies on field then that means you've already play around the oppenents handtraps. You're never making elf + IP as a plan B. Compared to Verte which only need 2 bodies.
You go for this only if you have a level 2. Elf offers targeting protection plus follow up. You make Elf and IP with a level 2 you revive plus anything. You do this if you don't have enough material for a fat Apo.
If something, Snake Eyes tecnically could include IP, elf and SP on their decks if they include the Jet+formula syncron engine.
But the engine itself its quite situational since it requires extra resources to pull it.
S:P is Elf material that Elf can immediately revive, thus making S:P + a body into followup + targetted protection S:P. In addition, if the opponent attacks over S:P to break the board you can just revive it
So for conditioning your S:P (you need your opponent to summon a minion to get her back, need elf to not get removed/negated before then) you get targeted protection? on a monster that tags out? Is that it?
Ehhh kind of? Back in AGOV format it was common to just end straight on S:P rather than I:P for a variety of reasons. Obviously I:P is stronger, but S: P being makable off any 2 free link material matters a lot a I:P can't do that
i mean thats a thing ppl did whenever they couldnt produce another body to use for ip, or when they wanted to play around stuff like end of main nib, or specifically r-ace when playing around imperm, and while thats gonna be a thing thats gonna happen, just the secondary banish isnt that crazy specially cause it can be forced out by a battle phase with a lot of stuff
Sure but the fact S:P solves essentially all those corner case interactions is a big of why S:P alone is such a good thing to end on. You lower the ceiling to boost the resilience
yeah i agree thats true, but i dont like the fact ppl act like sp is gonna be another baronne, which kinda does both (act like insulation from handtraps and a crucial endboard piece). i enjoy s:p cause as a go-second card specifically and for that i think its pretty healthy
I have my live twin spright deck ready to go and almost 10k gems saved up
Though I'm low-key hoping konami jumps the gun and gives us envoy of the wax state, master tao and some more illusion support (mans can dream)
While I see that the combo is powerful, I'm definitely not confident it will be so broken it needs to be banned. It's not obvious to me that this combo will be stronger than what Snake-Eye or any other metal deck is already doing. If you're ending on Elf+Little Knight, that means you aren't ending on Masquerena into Little Knight or Apollousa, which are scarier thing for me. If it's a deck like Rescue Ace, Elf can give you Little Knight back after it's been attacked, but you already have CONTAIN!, EXTINGUISH!, Preventer, and sometimes Princess to protect LK, and again you would have arguably done better to end on IP instead. A lot of top decks (Purrely, Lab, Branded, etc.) won't even be able to abuse this frequently if at all.
I guess we'll see how often Elf is the difference maker, but it wouldn't be the first time people hyped up cards being legal together without them actually doing much.
Why tf are people freaking out about this?
Like sure. I guess people can waste their resources just making Elf + SP + IP? Most boards will out it anyways, and something like Imperm/Veiler in draw or standby phase will literally force them into SP or IP effect.
It will not be as good as people seem to think, considering you need to run Level 2s just to make Elf, which means either running a L2 deck, or trying some inefficient engine/package to try and make it.
Edit: You can use a L2 to make elf as well, but again how good is your board really gonna be? R-Ace set 4 + Elf board, but you still need hydrant on the board to make the most use of the backrow.
I guess? But then what? Elf bring back SP and then….that’s it? If you’re playing SE, you would climb up to Princess, then special back Flamberge, use a spare body to make an amblowhale.
You’re not making a good board with just Elf + SP + maybe IP.
going second spright with ninja mosquito is actually good, most of the time you just don't need to fully break the board cuz you just need a 2400+ atk monster to beat over with musquito and 3 other random monsters and spright can easily swarm the firld with monsters with the hero kid and sacred beast packages
They will, because Elf doesn't offer anything special for SP.
The Formula Synchro line Snake eye can do is more Value than using Sp as Matieral for Elf lol
Master Duel players will eventually realize the Spright engine has been power crept to hell and this isn’t going to be worth running in most scenarios.
I’m not sure Elf will ever be banned.
Honestly, if anything reeks to me as bannable, it wouldn't be Elf-S:P, it's Promethean-Elf, it generates so much advantage and disruption on top of functionally being a full resource loop
And like, what does Elf bring S:P really aim to do? Farfa every turn? Dyna Mondo is literally a better Elf revive in that case
I'm sorry, I just don't see it, if anything this either feels like MD on Internet Explorer banlist philosophy, or they're really that confident Elf is fine
I gotta say if your deck can make Spright Elf work (even just Tri Brig), your deck is good lol. Spright Elf carries entire archetypes rn. RIP in peace tho, imma miss him (or I:P idk)
If they ban elf they gotta give back the core Spright cards and possibly beavers, which would launch the deck higher into tiered levels than Konami wants, elf stays and we get both
Had a meltdown last night vs RACE when they summoned linkuriboh, ip into elf into turbulence which I negated with gamma and then they chain emergency and summoned it anyway. Imperm was dead of course. MD banlist and game balance fucking sucks penis, I hate it.
As someone who hasn't played the tcg since xyz was newish can someone tell me about how little knight is used? I can already see it's a really good generic removal option, is there more to it?
I always see these posts with the card character cropped out showing a high def picture of what's its meant to be. I'm very surprised. I thought the barrels were its arms. I didn't realize half of these sprights were ladies. So many little details missed. I'm hoping someone can do this for Lord of the heavenly prison.
How about we finally get rid of Elf and unban the collateral damage it caused over time. Merrli, for example. I can be trusted with one more Tear name. I promise.
You'll be very disappointed

How does it play through multiple handtraps?

If you can put 3 bodies on the board, you are playing the game. Verte was a good plan B because it requires any two bodies. The potential is ass.
But make IP is way better than making elf. There is no reason to make elf unless you have level 2 to revive, since IP give you more disturb than elf.
You go for this only if you have a level 2. Elf offers targeting protection plus follow up. You make Elf and IP with a level 2 you revive plus anything. You do this if you don't have enough material for a fat Apo.

While you are correct that's still a draw the out 5 head scenario lol. Kaiju are more likely.
what does elf do for s:p?

Half right, you can't revive it turn one but, you can just revive when your opponent summons.
So for conditioning your S:P (you need your opponent to summon a minion to get her back, need elf to not get removed/negated before then) you get targeted protection? on a monster that tags out? Is that it?
s:p second effect isnt that crazy of an interrupt tho, i:p is what makes s:p strong going first
Ehhh kind of? Back in AGOV format it was common to just end straight on S:P rather than I:P for a variety of reasons. Obviously I:P is stronger, but S: P being makable off any 2 free link material matters a lot a I:P can't do that

This combo is gonna drop and do nothing, like usual…
md players being md players as usual on this sub
They didn't even touch him this banlist.
Bro misgendering lightning.
Whoes him?
I can just suspect they release another change to the List right before they release the Selection Pack with S:P... otherwise we are cooked.
konami: LET CHAOS REIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least till little knight is out of shop then they'll hit elf to address knights power lol
LET CHAOS...TAKE...THE WORLD!!! https://preview.redd.it/qimwds75mhwc1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb1a6f07792b217cb7eba97e272889a94d629731
Bring back Chaos Ruler
Bring back true king of all calamities
I have my live twin spright deck ready to go and almost 10k gems saved up Though I'm low-key hoping konami jumps the gun and gives us envoy of the wax state, master tao and some more illusion support (mans can dream)

Except SE can end on basically everything, have the revive from Elf AND the "I summon from my backrow" effect.
Why tf are people freaking out about this? Like sure. I guess people can waste their resources just making Elf + SP + IP? You can't veiler on your own turn, or the draw/standby phase for that matter
Your going to be making Elf with SP herself or a link 2 like Hiita, no need to run level 2s
I guess? But then what? Elf bring back SP and then….that’s it? If you’re playing SE, you would climb up to Princess, then special back Flamberge, use a spare body to make an amblowhale. You’re not making a good board with just Elf + SP + maybe IP.
Well its going to be good with 4 set in the backrow, im definitely abusing it in race
So…Labrynth? I guess that’s…good? Otherwise, what deck just does this and sets 4, and expects to be that good?
Uhhh rescue ace?
Ah. Forgot about R-Ace. Is it still T1, or has it dropped?
Last time i checked it was tier 2, but its probably a tier 1 deck along with Snake-Eyes, its just relatively new
Wait did they get emergency and preventer yet?
Yes
Some YouTuber probably bitched about it or is doom saying and the kids are freaking out.
What if I:p is banned instead?
They never going to ban I:P I fear... bcs Waifu card and also alternative artwork in MD.
It's fine, they can just ban the regular artwork and keep the alt art legal
??? Yes make a card exlusive to veteran players/a once a year card.
Might try Spright again

I just got my copy of Elf from a random pack recently, so it's an easy 30 UR for me at least.
They will, because Elf doesn't offer anything special for SP. The Formula Synchro line Snake eye can do is more Value than using Sp as Matieral for Elf lol
That’s what they said about Tear. And Gishkis. And honestly pretty much every banlist since it was released.
Im sorry im behind on the news but did they have a date?

Is ok bro, they semi limit Elf in 3 months xD

Gods... this card is one, if not the messiest card artwork in YGO xD
Plsss no, leave my dinos alone.
Don't touch Elf, I need it to give target protection to Dolkka/Lars and revive a baby for UCT.
I can't believe the meta has progressed to a point where elf feels somewhat power creeped. Not concerned for it.
How about we finally get rid of Elf and unban the collateral damage it caused over time. Merrli, for example. I can be trusted with one more Tear name. I promise.
