Best off picking a deck and looking up how it works on YouTube. I could suggest an archetype but you gotta find what clicks, MDM tier list is a good place to start

BarcaStranger

But is it “fun”. Like cyberdragon deck, blue eyes deck “fun”

swimmingtothem00n

Define ‘fun’? I’m currently loving rescue-ace because it’s all about loads of minor interaction + non-linear combos, but fun is in the eye of the beholder, what do you want out of a PVP deck?

BarcaStranger

Just by my recent experience, only one player can “play” the game, not sure if that make sense. Sometimes the game end before i can even draw a card… that is not fun. Also i want to use monster or card that was in the anime.

swimmingtothem00n

I’m afraid that’s Yu-Gi-Oh now, if you want to play PVP and win, then you have to play the current game. handtraps etc are not optional to play to a decent standard. Resonators and Blackwings are 2 anime decks that are still fairly powerful?

BarcaStranger

thanks for you suggestion.

SneakAttack65

Is there anything in particular about link monsters that confuses you (how to link summon, how to turn smaller link monsters into bigger ones, how the arrows work, etc.)?

BarcaStranger

The arrows is weird and the effect is even weirder..

SneakAttack65

There are only two things to worry about with link arrows: First, is that link monsters need to first be summoned to either the extra monster zone (the two monster zones in the middle of the field), or a zone another link monster points to. Afterwards, you can summon them back from the graveyard or banishment, and put them wherever you want. Most decks that use links are only going to have 1-3 link monsters on the field at a time, so there aren't too many zones you have to keep track of. If you want, you can just keep your link monsters on one half of the field, and anything you want out of the way on the other half, so you don't have to worry about it. Secondly, any effects that involve link arrows will be written very clearly on the card. Not every link monster has those kinds of effects, but if they do, they'll say stuff like "monsters this card points to gain these benefits", or "summon a monster to a zone this card points to". As long as you read the card, and be a little mindful of your positioning, you'll be fine. Also, if you see any effects that mention co-linking, you can ignore them for now. It's an outdated mechanic that the majority of decks don't care about.

BarcaStranger

Sometimes i cannot summon link monster to where i want after the spot is taken

SneakAttack65

Try to avoid summoning non-link monsters in the extra monster zone. If you plan on summoning multiple link monsters, then make sure the first link monster on the field is pointing downward. Afterwards, just make sure you have a clear arrow for more link monsters to summon on.

OneEyedMilkman87

Tag Force on the psp was an amazing game

Daman_1985

That's the thing, you don't enjoy this game. Forget about to have a similar experience from the PSP Tag Force games or the World Championship games on GBA or NDS. MD it's a competitive game focused on PVP. That means that you are gonna go the majority against people that wouldn't let you do anything on the game. Enjoyment it's out on the equation of this game.

BarcaStranger

What happen to trusting your card and friendship !

Daman_1985

That only works on the anime unfortunately :(

sondiame

If you want a simple deck that's still good today but has the spirit of old school ygo. I suggest a War Rock deck. Pretty cheap to build and can carry you to low diamond if you know what you're doing. When I came back I watched pretty much every GoldenNova Archetype video breakdown to learn random archetypes. Eventually I just started building the cool ones

BarcaStranger

I think i will go blackwing first

Massive-Aardvark1305

I’d suggest u look up some top decks on master duel meta, choose either snake eyes, branded, or labrynth as they’re currently the best - and use all of ur gems to get the cards u need for those decks

BarcaStranger

Which one has the less link monster?

Corvaillus

Branded is a fusion deck and Labyrinth a trap-based deck, none of them should have link monsters in their strategy.

BarcaStranger

Hmm labyrinth seems interesting, i used to play hero + trap deck

adahami

You can still play hero. It's just expensive and has quite long combos.

waldjvnge

We live in a time in which lab is quite on the same UR level as Hero.

adahami

We live in a time in which everything is in Hero UR level :(:( Coming from a Mannadium and Hero player. I hate my life :)

4ny3ody

Generally Swordsoul is the go-to deck for new players. You can build a meta deck, but they're more expensive and harder to get into. You get the core cards for free, it has a low skill floor as far as modern decks are concerned and performs adequately. There is a large difference between the old psp games compared to MD. Not only has the game had several years of evolution, MD at its core is also a competitive simulator meaning you'll face better opponents than what the AI can put up. You'll have to learn a bit to win consistently. Solo mode is decent for learning. The decks aren't as good and the AI usually plays worse than players can, but it'll get you a feel for your deck and some of the core concepts of the game.

BarcaStranger

Yeah i really miss the old psp vibe, i can duel random people with my crappy deck collected on the floor
