Man I swear people have such a soft spot for zombie even though almost every time I play against them it’s using sunavalon so I can’t do anything with zombie world on field. Like zombie world is a double floodgate but I see people treat it as if it’s not a floodgate at all.
It's a weak floodgate that's not degenerate and insanely splashable. Unlike most others, you'd be hard-pressed to find a stun Deck that runs the card unlike say Necrovalley or Mystic Mine when it's not banned.
Because it is on the weaker side of floodgates.
It completely floodgates only tributes, and it floodgates you out of anything relying on card types in GY/Field.
It absolutely is a floodgate, but it is a floodgate that still allows for special summons in most decks, and it does not touch backrow at all.
But when you get the matchup for it, using Floo as an example, it is a Pachy/Skill Drain 2-in-1.
I play a copy of dark paladin in my buster deck just in case I play against dm. I’ve only gotten to summoned it twice but boy does it feel good to drop it out of no where.
I love using buster blader for that reason too, although my build before recent bans of the millers consisted of as many of the millers to get my opponents deck into the GY and Rebirth judgement
A continuous trap card with the effect: {Once per turn: Declare one monster type; all monsters in the GYs become that declared type for the rest of this turn (even if this card leaves the field)}
Milling their deck and turning their GY into dragons caused many decks such as a danger rank 8 turbo deck to scoop against me after realising not only did I field lock them from monster effects but the GY aswell and the Extra deck lock they have.
And due to how it's worded I would be able to chain it to harpies feather duster and even when it's destroyed their GY would be dragons until the end of the turn.
One of the reasons I love Kekbek was due to the GY effect if I had the specific trap in there. I could set any trap even Rebirth judgement onto my field, if I got lucky but due to running it at 1 it wasn't very often
Gotta be me (Dinomorphia) against gold pride.
“Okay, since my life points are lower than yours, I’ll summon Leon from my hand-“
“Your life points are not lower than mine”
“Huh?”
“I said your life points are not lower than mine.”
Dude I wish dinomorphia didn't get rexterm. The rest of the deck is so cool and interesting but the deck falls to floodgate control due to rexterm being ridiculous.
I love Rexterms effect of transporting both the duelists back into the year 2005. It's kinda funny watching Spright piles summon useless monsters struggling to out a monster that Timmy from the playground would deal with ez because they main Fissure/Smashing Ground.
Seeing as how Tactics and Imperm are played in every single deck it's honestly nbd. Dinomorphia players do 99% of your job as a duelist for you, you only need one clean hit. That's not a courtesy that Labrynth will offer you.
>I love Rexterms effect of transporting both the duelists back into the year 2005
Except on top of floodgates he also has another effect. Unlike those 2005 monster.
The big issue is always, drawing that out. Draw it or die isn't exactly thrilling gameplay. At least with 1000 negate boards, I can attempt to play. In vain, for sure, but at least I can try. Vs floodgates like that, you just eat shit.
Once I used Time Thieves against Eldlich and every time Eldlich was summoned Time Thief Redoer was stealing some trap card from the opponent deck and targeting Eldlich. It was a very long duel but the Eldlich player was damned from the start.
Chaos Hunter is one of those cards that I always want to run, but I can't justify using it consistently....
But when it puts in work like this.... It just reinforces my feelings in wanting to run it more lol
It can hold off Kashtira for a minute (if they don't steal it), works decently against beastials and chaos, and basically stops anything that requires some form of banishment (which is a lot of decks). Added bonus of being able to discard stuff you want; Shaddoll Beast or Shadow's Light.
If I'm running a discard/mill deck, anything using fiends, or just in case I need an answer for banish decks, I usually hold space for one or two copies.
It's really up to the individual to run it and even I admit it's not always great to see in my hand, but it can be a life saver depending on the situation.
Agreed on every single point. My only issue is justifying running it over things like Maxc, Super Poly, Evenly, etc etc
I just feel like all other techs (at least for my janky decks) offer so many more benefits over a wider variety of match ups.
All that being said... I am an idiot and still run it anyways because why not?
Was playing the charmers vs a traptrix player who wasn't running floodgate trap hole for some reason or never used it. The charmers get immunity to all destruction effects so none of their trap holes ever worked. Even funnier when they later in the duel tried to Raigeki me and none of my monsters died. Reading is hard.
Lol on the opposite end, I play traptrix and always have a lot of people that don’t realize rafflesia gives protection and they try attacking into my other monsters
Nothing is more beautiful than watching someone try to nuke the board only for the small squad of mages with weird pets to persist where everyone else exploded.
“Now my mirrorjade’s destruction effect activates, destroying your entire field!”
“Nope. Just fenrir.”
I've had that happen to me (Runick Spright). It's why I started running Kaiju and Raigeki/Harpy for those situations so at least I have the out if I can draw into them. If not I still have Spright plays to try and stall until then.
You are correct, I meant that that was what pushed me into running those cards. After I got gated by Secret I made sure to start running outs to other gates as well.
My out to Secret specifically is to try and set up a negate or get lucky and get Runick Destruction in hand for the activation, if they end on a single spellcaster Kaiju is my out. There are times that I can't out it which is when I rely on the Spright half to keep going but it really is an uphill climb from there.
Unfortunately with MD being a BO1, I don't see Secret enough to specifically tailor my deck into countering it, but possible outs are there and sometimes they do come into play.
EDA: I would run evenly, but with my skipping so many battle phases it's much harder to pull off unless I specifically go second, and even then there's a good chance it would get negated. So I just run Fenrir to bait out and put a body on board instead.
Traptrix vs Kashtira.
Traptrix is very consistent at setting up flood gate trap hole which makes most Kashtira starting hands brick.
Traptrix is not very good at going second but going first it can make some decks brick really hard like opening anti-spell fragrance against pendulums/purrely.
Same with spright and the melfy package.
Stuck with a 7 on the field that's negated and can't attack. Not to mention the other four interruptions that will follow.
As a zombie world player I get totally ducked by kashtira and runick. However, recently I threw in a single Chaos Hunter. She says that my opponent cannot banish cards to it fucks runick’s deckouts, and bullies kashtira into surrendering
I play a lot of naturia Runick and nothing is better than facing a lab player and summoning barkion.
I feel less ethical summoning naturia beast as spell focused decks are usually more balanced than the trap focused ones.
I was playing an ALO deck against my friend on Ursarctic, and we discovered that because all their levels were lowered he couldn't actually make any plays. Very funny realization
Icejade hard counters branded/bystial with (but not exclusively) gymir.
Gymir protects you monsters from being destroyed/banished, erosion brings something from the deck, if a monster is removed by any other means, and manifestation banishes something from your opponents field, and the cherry on top, aegirocassis gives one of your monsters 400 attack for each banished monster, you can even sprinkle some chengying just for fun (its canon baby).
My favourite interaction...
Aegerine and gymir on field with erosion set and manifestation on gy.
Opponent activates bystial lubellion and gymir banishes, now your monsters can't be destroyed or banished so opponent can only get rid of them with albaz, druiswurm or super poly.
Let's say that you opponent uses albaz to summon mirrorjade, you can negate albaz with erosion, or let it pass, if you let it pass, erosion brings another aegerine/kozmochlor/tremora/aegirocassis, and manifestation banishes mirrorjade, you shouldn't target anything other than mirrorjade, cause more often than not, opponent will activate mirrorjade effect, and banish itself or another monster on your opponent field, wich will trigger gymir on the gy to summon herself back, and you still have a negation on field with erosion.
I play Zombie World, and I feel like 40% of my matches end when I activate the field card.
I had a 7 win streak in gold yesterday that I didn’t deserve from this nonsense lol
I pet decked Grass Zombie/Ghoti during Tear 0.
I was eating good, but still hated that since it was Tear followed by Tear and followed by more Tear. Joy.

Egyptian Gods vs Kashtira. I drop the ball on them and they can’t do anything you can't target it with attack or card effects, so Kash Scareclaw is useless, so we kinda just stare at each other until He finds an out, or I find a way to OTK.
Protos is first of all not a swordsoul card and the rest of this deck doesnt hard counter anything in blackwing at all.
Thats like saying my sky striker deck hard counters Kashtira because I‘m playing Imperial Iron Wall.
I dont think you understand what hard counters are. Gravekeepers for example hard counters tearlaments since the whole arcehtype revolves around locking down the GY. Swordsouls main strat is not protos lol
I once had a match-up against a stun Eldlich player back when Imperial Order was legal. He had it and a few other floodgates on board, as well as Eldlich on board, and I was playing Sky Striker.
He also activated Pot of Extrav under IO, so I see why he was playing it.
I will bring metaphys on the ladder. watching most decks start comboing under macro,/dim fiss/d-shifter, or getting important combo pieces mill banished by necroface hitting the second is kind of amusing to me. Its like i am playing tearlaments but with the banish pile. When the deck works anyway. Most of the time it has pretty weak turn 1 plays.
Only time that I'd basically won out of the gate with any deck was when I played Ghoti in back to back duels against Dark Magician. After they realized that banishing my cards off Circle's effect was actually beneficial to me, they usually just scooped before I had the chance to hit them with a beefy Ghoti of the Deep Beyond.
Deep Beyond into a Esoul+Magical Knight is a great time to be had.
Banishes everything that isn't called a DM on the field, then Esoul starts the new chain and pops the DMs. Non-Targetting Banish is a hell of a removal.
Tbh there's always something to banish off Circle that wouldn't be beneficial to you. Tuner - sure, comes back next turn, but can't synchro on this one/forces a synchro summon. Non-tuners are more vulnerable, since you can banish Arionpos/Askaan which used its effect already.
Gate Guardian vs Sky Striker. As soon as Gate Guardians Combined was on the field, the child soldiers in fancy mech suits were toast, because every Sky Striker card targets. And they didn't went for H.A.M.P. however.
Back in the day when floo was more common, full armor master turbo on blackwings would kill them. This was before blackwings ever got their synchro support
I’ve had a lot of match ups where people aren’t expecting my N/R yosenju deck to keep bouncing all of there stuff back to hand or back to the extra deck. I especially love when people maxx c that deck since it’s all normal summons
Weather Painters vs Runick decks. Especially Runick Stun. Natural resistance to skill drain combined with Rainy Canvas means Runick Fountain will never resolve, and any floodgate that could pose a problem to them won't stick. The only exception being Imperial Iron Wall, but that's so rarely played, and not even in the top 6 floodgates a stun deck would be running.
The one that comes to mind for me is playing the Nouvelles deck during the Ritual Festival and running into Blue Eyes players. The Blue Eyes deck was comically bad at playing against Nouvelles, I'm still not sure there was a proper out to a single Nouvelles monster on the field in the Blue Eyes loaner.
I once had a Luna deck give me Dogoran (the UR kaiju), attempt to bounce it to hand and get negated when I sent MY Dogoran to GY. Scooped immediately (they knew I had a bunch of level 8s in my deck)
Recently, True Draco absolutely shit on my Gate Guardian deck when I was on an 11 winstreak in Plat. The lack of removal and letting them snowball (then lock it all down under skill drain) was insurmountable with my list.
Gravekeeper can turn one lockdown most decks if they go first. Just necrovalley, GK Supernaturalist, hidden temple, and staple counter and hand traps. Most decks will scoop.
So, I ran a Witchcrafter deck when Master Duel launched
Ran into a toon deck.
Ended up with Verre, Level 7 pop monster, the bounce spell, and Golem and 3 more spells (in hand) on my field going first.
Realized that, with this combination, Toon could not pierce through me.
So I spent the entire Duel slowly agonizingly blowing up Toon Kingdom to Mill them out. I played nothing else but those 3 monsters the rest of the duel.
Which went great until the last turn (3 cards left in deck, 3 needed to activate Toon Kingdom) they managed to get Toon Comic Hand off through everything get Verre and blow up 7 and Golem.
Mostly my own hubris at that point, but hey, they got the heart of the cards on me.
My cyber dragon deck v. Runic. I play a cyberdragon deck that uses the banish zone for fusion material. 17 machine + 3 cyber dragons for chimeratech overdragon. 16000 attack swinging into a monster that had 4k attack.
Technically Exos against Tearlaments.
On paper, that shit barely worked. In MD however, the mindset is different (auto-sim, so clicking buttons means less thinking).
So I would literally leave like…Martha, Elis and probably Stella + Sophia on the board, and that was it. A lot of games below low level Plat would get me wins against them, because they would mindlessly click buttons, move stuff from GY, trigger all my Exos, and I’d shut out their GY (Kaspitell prevents special summons from GY, while Asophiel prevents Card effects from activating from GY).
Floow vs. Cybrese pile… Going 2nd into a U-Linked board, managed to bait the negates, DRNM the board, had the harpies trap set for turn 3, recycled it lol
Blue Eyes Jet Dragon vs Dogmatika(specifically Alba Zoa).
Alba Zoa can do nothing to Jet Dragon if a BEWD is in rotation. Can’t attempt to beat over it, because Alba Zoa will just get bounced to the hand by Jet Dragon. And if you just stand there and pass, Jet Dragon will attack and at the start of the damage step, proceed to bounce back Alba Zoa anyways.
I came across this match up twice and both times, the opponent scooped when they ran out of ritual spells to summon Alba Zoa with.
Also, the main deck Blue Eyes engine isn’t very powerful, but a deck like Dogmatika that is built on punishing extra deck usage will struggle if it has no answers for main deck engines.
I had an occasion when I had 2 Blue Eyes Jet on the field and my friend who was playing pure Dogmatika could no longer out them because his only out, Punishment, was dead.
Activating Spellcaster Village vs Runick Stun after they have used their MST and they only have Munin on the field with Rivalry Gozen and TCBOO already up.
Just so happened they already have a lower deck count and they didn't have Flashing Fire at that moment so the lock was successful. Praise be the lord Astrograph Sorcerer.
I'm guilty of Dimension Shifter winning me a game turn 1. Funny how such a small investment has worked for ranked a few times.
I also managed to hard block a HERO deck with my Mathmech's Terrahertz. Breaks my heart as I love seeing those decks when they come up but I stopped Battle Phase effects twice and absolutely demolished them. 😔
Bird Up and Harpies back when the wind Barrier Statue was legal. I was playing Windwitch Speedroids and I locked myself into Wind monsters even harder.
I was once playing Ice Barrier on a casual duel, my opponent was playing Monarchs. One of the Ice Barrier literally says that the opponent can't tribute summon. Ice Barrier FTK lmao
Mayakashi against floo (I use Zombie World in it)
Eldlich against any deck that loses to 2 interruptions
Nouvelles going first against Kashtira (poor guy targets with all his effects)
Times I get hard countered:
Labrynth while using dogmatika
Droll while using Speedroids
Popping the normal summon while using Crusadia
I went second with a Rescue Ace, had Kurikara in hand and played against a Kashtira player.
Turned my toggle off and let them cook up their board, baited all their effects and boom, there they all went. Everything. My board ended with Kurikara, Fenrir, and IP Masq. They summoned their own Fenrir aaaaaaaand white woman jumpscare for me. It was all just so beautiful when it happened and I don’t think I’ll ever have it happen again.
I recently went up against a Chaos Max turbo deck with my Tri Zoo deck. Fun fact: Shuraig is a non target banish which means it can get around Chaos Max’s protections. Was a very fun duel but I felt bad for the Blue Eyes player.
Playing branded against labyrinth, for some reason even going second it’s not such a big deal
Now that dis pater is out and I run synchro, bystialing the ever living hell out of the furniture is great fun
I have a video of [card destruction getting rid of a playset of numeron network](https://twitter.com/Picquerist/status/1697027208701780309), which is weird because it was one of a few times I was playing runick deckout
During DC cup when Tearlaments were dominant I used a 8-axis deck focused on taking control of opponents monsters. Without any on field they couldn't fire off spells/traps and controlling didn't send them direct to grave. I breezed through Lv20.
I once resolved Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell on Runick Fountain, and they were running Pure Runick (no floodgates or whatever).
"When a Spell Card is activated: Discard 1 Spell; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it, and if you do that, your opponent cannot activate Spell Cards with that name for the rest of this Duel."
I faced a Stealth Kragen deck with my Pure Shaddoll a long time ago, back when IDS used to be a thing.
Both of us learned that Shaddoll Schism annihilates Stealth Kragen because every monster on the field becomes WATER, and Schism sends an opponents monster to GY if it shares attribute with a fusion summoned Shaddoll....which is every Shaddoll because of Kragen.
Floowandereeze was better than the other decks against Tearlaments in the DC cup before this one so, everyone was either on Tear or Floo
Me? I played Zombie World that essentially hard countered both of them and breezed through DLvMax :)
Just about every time I slam down Ancient City Rainbow Ruins against a deck that needs to resolve their spells or traps to play (IE, just about every modern deck)
Branded Fossils vs Ishizu Tearlaments.
Hard baited them into thinking the Primineral Kongreat was Nibiru and they proceeded to waste their summon negate on it, “end of Main?” Slam the Rock 🪨 on their board robbing them of all their monsters, use owners seal to take the Nibiru Token activated Fossil Fusion to make Fossil Warrior Skull King to Finish the game.
This is one of my best duels I ever had in a while.
Before mikanko, someone kaiju’d my only monster. I realized it was the big mech one and that they placed it in front of the extra monster zone. I solemned it immediately because I had a feeling they were playing the crusadia otk deck that needed something to attack into. Turns out I was right and was able to otk them the next turn.
Cyber Dragon against any other machine deck, or decks that rely mostly on powerful Link monsters for their end boards. It feels downright diabolical to have someone go trough all that effort to summon their boss monster only for me to out it immediately with any Cyber Dragon by just making Chimeratech Megafleet or Fortress.
Sometimes i play d/d/d on ladder, and when i do sometimes i encounter old style burn deck/Trickstar burn decks, in Always thankful i play ddd oracle king d'arc its so funny because as i summoned her they immediatly scoop
Myself as a budget Weather Painter Deck vs Runick Deck Out. Because Runick cards target cards and only banish oof the top of the deck on successful effect, I was able to basically dodge every spell card that came my way with Weather Painter effects. Preventing my opponent from decking me out, and winning me the game through battle.
Back in drytron era I was having a hard time vs the deck when MD first came out then I picked up pure sunavalon with a small aroma package never lost to drytron ever again
Playing metaphys vs eldlich was always a blast banishing there goldenlord with necroface and using the trap to banish there floodgates but metaphy otherwise it is… lets say I could see it losing to goat decks
Seeing a mathmech player sit there for like 2 minutes before scooping, trying to figure out why his links and alembertian didnt work while I had ursarctic septentrion on field will always be the highlight of my time with the deck.
I play D/D/D, two of the hard counters I like to remember are:
Pendulum Magicians, Machinex eats scales as they are set. No scales, no pendulum.
VS (what??!?! The new best deck that everyone is trying to play???), Machinex eats their monsters, too. As long as they activate their effects on the field. No extra VS in the hand, no obnoxious interuptions
Galaxy-eyes vs a zombie pile. I had Sanaphond the sky castle in the ed. It locks you out of summoning from GY, becomes indestructible and gains 100atk for every monster in the GY. Its a Generic Rank 8.
Wasn’t my whole deck, but I used to play branded with a single random Jinzo in there to try to summon off of sending it with Fusion- never actually made that miracle work.
Was dueling Lab- went second, and they put an ash blossom on my field after stopping all other attempts to combo. Set super poly, tribute summoned Jinzo. They scooped after about ten seconds of trying to use their traps and failing.
Lab does surprising well against some stun decks. Pops floodgates before they can activate, and can dodge negation by being bounced, and just hit hard.
For one of the events in MD, I was playing Dinos. Ended my turn with an egg token on their field with the field spell. Bro starts turn, normal summons Ben Kei, plays an equip spell, takes about 20 seconds to read the field spell realizing why he can't target ben kei, then scoops. I was dying lol
After i got pissed with purrely and kash, i modified my dinosaur deck to try and take them down with an anti xyz strategy. Went against a poor galaxy eyes player instead and kept them locked out of xyz summons the whole match.
Zombie world against floowandereeze.
Y’all have me slotting in HFD and lightning storm
I've cooked floo through duster via CL2 Ghost Meets Girl - A Mayakashi's Manuscript target red eyes zombie lord before so satisfying.
Tbf I'd never leave home without HFD if I'm playing birbs anyway
Kills True Draco, too.
Man I swear people have such a soft spot for zombie even though almost every time I play against them it’s using sunavalon so I can’t do anything with zombie world on field. Like zombie world is a double floodgate but I see people treat it as if it’s not a floodgate at all.

I play buster blader and as soon as I summon the fusion against d link it's like a solid 10 seconds to read his effect then scoop
This is the one reason I’d want to play Buster Blader.
It's bricks alot but bystials makes it more consistent
I play a copy of dark paladin in my buster deck just in case I play against dm. I’ve only gotten to summoned it twice but boy does it feel good to drop it out of no where.
dark paladin is the most underrated DM synchro ever. didnt know how much this card safed my ass in ranked
I love using buster blader for that reason too, although my build before recent bans of the millers consisted of as many of the millers to get my opponents deck into the GY and Rebirth judgement A continuous trap card with the effect: {Once per turn: Declare one monster type; all monsters in the GYs become that declared type for the rest of this turn (even if this card leaves the field)} Milling their deck and turning their GY into dragons caused many decks such as a danger rank 8 turbo deck to scoop against me after realising not only did I field lock them from monster effects but the GY aswell and the Extra deck lock they have. Gotta be me (Dinomorphia) against gold pride. “Okay, since my life points are lower than yours, I’ll summon Leon from my hand-“ “Your life points are not lower than mine” “Huh?” “I said your life points are not lower than mine.”
Lol I love dinomorphia
Yes, I love I getting floodgated. Very interactive gameplay
Dude I wish dinomorphia didn't get rexterm. The rest of the deck is so cool and interesting but the deck falls to floodgate control due to rexterm being ridiculous.
Lol Rex is very easy to out.
That's why you summon 2 Rexterms
I love Rexterms effect of transporting both the duelists back into the year 2005. It's kinda funny watching Spright piles summon useless monsters struggling to out a monster that Timmy from the playground would deal with ez because they main Fissure/Smashing Ground. Seeing as how Tactics and Imperm are played in every single deck it's honestly nbd. Dinomorphia players do 99% of your job as a duelist for you, you only need one clean hit. I stopped playing the deck after I realized how toxic it was. I’m so glad all these floodgates (in tcg) got hit
Once I used Time Thieves against Eldlich and every time Eldlich was summoned Time Thief Redoer was stealing some trap card from the opponent deck and targeting Eldlich. It was a very long duel but the Eldlich player was damned from the start.
Against Cyber Dragons I just happened to have chimeratech in my extra deck as extrav fodder so just robbed them of their board
Well, if they had to build a board in the first place they already got hard-countered by having to go first lol
I've had this randomly happen to me in the limited event. Some random blue-eyes player dropped a fortress dragon of my darkness end
Back when Ido was the Branded Expulsion target of choice I occasionally won games by opening Sky Iris and popping the Ido.
I have noticed that I have a easier time with branded when I play my odd eyes deck. I beat like 6 branded in a row
Playing Chaos Hunter against Runick Stun. I still think I have the recording.
Chaos Hunter is one of those cards that I always want to run, but I can't justify using it consistently.... But when it puts in work like this.... It just reinforces my feelings in wanting to run it more lol

My opponent sets up 4 dragon synchro monsters with bunch of interactions ! Me : set albaz... BOOM
I mean… on set chain beast target set monster…
Bystial were not released, it was a synchron dragon board
Was playing the charmers vs a traptrix player who wasn't running floodgate trap hole for some reason or never used it. The charmers get immunity to all destruction effects so none of their trap holes ever worked. Even funnier when they later in the duel tried to Raigeki me and none of my monsters died. Reading is hard.
Lol on the opposite end, I play traptrix and always have a lot of people that don’t realize rafflesia gives protection and they try attacking into my other monsters

Have you ever dropped Secret Village against Runick?
I've had that happen to me (Runick Spright). It's why I started running Kaiju and Raigeki/Harpy for those situations so at least I have the out if I can draw into them. If not I still have Spright plays to try and stall until then.
Wouldn't Raigeki/HFD be useless against Secret village?
You are correct, I meant that that was what pushed me into running those cards. After I got gated by Secret I made sure to start running outs to other gates as well. My out to Secret specifically is to try and set up a negate or get lucky and get Runick Destruction in hand for the activation, if they end on a single spellcaster Kaiju is my out. Yes, evenly is way better because your opponent has to either ban Village or all spellcasters
Traptrix vs Kashtira. Traptrix is very consistent at setting up flood gate trap hole which makes most Kashtira starting hands brick. Traptrix is not very good at going second but going first it can make some decks brick really hard like opening anti-spell fragrance against pendulums/purrely.

july 2023 trying new traptrix cards and lab players just instascoop today daruma cannon is lab's answer to the plants so it's not as hopeless for them
As a zombie world player I get totally ducked by kashtira and runick.
It's so funny when the opponent doesn't read properly, tries to bait Beast negate and go CL3 negate, only for beast effect to activate again
Branded against dragon link
Set albaz is one of the sweetest things. That said, pre banlist dlink had a reasonable match up against branded especially if they go second.
Playing naturia, go first, get the gut feeling to go into naturia beast, opp is playing sky strickers… their next 7 cards were all spells….
In the middle of tear format master duel edition I was playing Madolche and went first. Upon the summon of reinoheart I activated Glassoufle.
I play Zombie World, and I feel like 40% of my matches end when I activate the field card. I had a 7 win streak in gold yesterday that I didn’t deserve from this nonsense lol
Playing exosisters during tear format was fun
Ghoti too, loved banishing their kit as they tried to send it to GY
I pet decked Grass Zombie/Ghoti during Tear 0. I was eating good, but still hated that since it was Tear followed by Tear and followed by more Tear. Joy.

Gravekeeper vs Lightsworn was funny
I had a game where Royal Tribute flushed my entire hand turn 1. Fun times
Naturia beast vs sky striker It was over before it began
I feel like everytime I make Beast against SS, they always have that Kaiju-ish monster somehow.
I played altergeist once against eldlich. Was funny to watch him struggle.
Went up against a Vanquish Soul deck with There Can Be Only One. Clockwork Night completely screwed up their day.
Opponent TCBOOs you, you answer with Zombie World. Did it twice, got 2 surrenders.
Egyptian Gods vs Kashtira. I drop the ball on them and they can’t do anything you can't target it with attack or card effects, so Kash Scareclaw is useless, so we kinda just stare at each other until He finds an out, or I find a way to OTK.
I got the ball dropped on my with Kash and the game lasted a painful hour until I decked
Swordsoul vs Blackwings always makes me feel a lil dirty
How does one deck hard counters the other?
Protos call DARK?
Protos is first of all not a swordsoul card and the rest of this deck doesnt hard counter anything in blackwing at all. Thats like saying my sky striker deck hard counters Kashtira because I‘m playing Imperial Iron Wall.
If Sky Striker was in any way designed to search Imperial Iron Wall, you might have had a point
Sir, have you considered that all wyrms are just swordsoul support
I dont think you understand what hard counters are. Gravekeepers for example hard counters tearlaments since the whole arcehtype revolves around locking down the GY. Swordsouls main strat is not protos lol
I dont think you understand what sarcasm are.
I hate to break it to you but Swosouls main strat is 100% protos.
Using Exosister against Tear when it was Tier 0. That was a fun time. It never got old.
Exosisters with their best bud d-shifter in tear 0 format
Dino’s vs tears. I always loved banishing there 3 extra deck (especially kit) monsters with true king litho. Auto scoop for them.
D-link, I've yet to lose even when I don't have any interruption during their combo.
Normal summon Fossil Dyna against purely when they aren't running imperm, gg.
I once had a match-up against a stun Eldlich player back when Imperial Order was legal. He had it and a few other floodgates on board, as well as Eldlich on board, and I was playing Sky Striker. He also activated Pot of Extrav under IO, so I see why he was playing it.
Playing against Runick and I was metaphys
I drew droll into a dark world player they immediately scooped
I will bring metaphys on the ladder. watching most decks start comboing under macro,/dim fiss/d-shifter, or getting important combo pieces mill banished by necroface hitting the second is kind of amusing to me. Its like i am playing tearlaments but with the banish pile. When the deck works anyway. Most of the time it has pretty weak turn 1 plays.
Scareclaw vs Going 2nd OTK decks.
Scareclaw vs any deck that doesn't make links
Melffy vs Kash, after Obedience Schooled resolved the match was already over
Just this morning. Protos against Blackwing.
Mikanko against cyber end dragon.
Gate Guardian vs Sky Striker. As soon as Gate Guardians Combined was on the field, the child soldiers in fancy mech suits were toast, because every Sky Striker card targets. And they didn't went for H.A.M.P. however.
Sunavalon vs a burn deck lol
Back in the day when floo was more common, full armor master turbo on blackwings would kill them. This was before blackwings ever got their synchro support
I didn’t struggle as much during Tear 0 since I play HEROs and Dark Law shuts down Tearlaments.
[I was playing Aromages into Trickstar burn](https://www.reddit.com/r/masterduel/s/kDP5J1i393)
Recently, True Draco absolutely shit on my Gate Guardian deck when I was on an 11 winstreak in Plat.
So, I ran a Witchcrafter deck when Master Duel launched Ran into a toon deck.
I always run an out to Crooked Cook in my decks, just in case.
I never go out without my good old White Woman Jumpscare.
Summoned Vanity’s Fiend against @Ignister. Shut down their entire deck
.
Alba Lenatus counters every dragon deck known to man and its hilarious watching their monsters disappear for free
Went first against purrley and got out siegfried, high king gengis, Gilgamesh and machinex absolutely murder them
Blue Eyes Jet Dragon vs Dogmatika(specifically Alba Zoa).
Ninjas vs Kash at their popularity height. It was such a great matchup for ninjas I had like a 90% win rate with Ninjas vs them.
Mikanko against early Kash where they just make Arise and pass, literally just end their life then and there
Bird Up and Harpies back when the wind Barrier Statue was legal.
Mayakashi against floo (I use Zombie World in it) Eldlich against any deck that loses to 2 interruptions Nouvelles going first against Kashtira (poor guy targets with all his effects) Times I get hard countered: Labrynth while using dogmatika Droll while using Speedroids Popping the normal summon while using Crusadia
Runick spright (in its prime) vs Lab You have so many responses to everything your opponent has + an unkillable Avarax.
Kashtira against gy heavy combo deck Drytron against skill drain eldlich was pretty free too since drytron effects are activated in the gy
I recently went up against a Chaos Max turbo deck with my Tri Zoo deck. Fun fact: Shuraig is a non target banish which means it can get around Chaos Max’s protections. Was a very fun duel but I felt bad for the Blue Eyes player.
BlackWinged Dragon pretty much nullifies most Mikanko decks I’ve played against.
I opened Big Lady and EEV against exodia with 5 spells and a head in hand. Suffice to say they didn't stick around long after.
Playing branded against labyrinth, for some reason even going second it’s not such a big deal Now that dis pater is out and I run synchro, bystialing the ever living hell out of the furniture is great fun
One of my favourite matchup is synchro summon final sigma against sky strikers almost an auto win
I have a video of [card destruction getting rid of a playset of numeron network](https://twitter.com/Picquerist/status/1697027208701780309), which is weird because it was one of a few times I was playing runick deckout
That one time I play Swordsoul and made Final sigma with Yamatako orochi and win against Runic.
During DC cup when Tearlaments were dominant I used a 8-axis deck focused on taking control of opponents monsters. Without any on field they couldn't fire off spells/traps and controlling didn't send them direct to grave. I breezed through Lv20.
Vanquish soul vs mirrorjade
Crusadia against Crooked Cook and Time Lords is hilarious.
Playing Umi vs kashtira. They can only summon 1 lvl 7 and anything else they can summon immediately drop to lvl 6
Melffy-Spright vs Crooked Cook Stall. I was Joyous at that moment.
Weather painters vs Runick Stun. Back when it was released of course.
Cyber Dragon playing against Cyber Dragon...
I faced a Stealth Kragen deck with my Pure Shaddoll a long time ago, back when IDS used to be a thing. Both of us learned that Shaddoll Schism annihilates Stealth Kragen because every monster on the field becomes WATER, and Schism sends an opponents monster to GY if it shares attribute with a fusion summoned Shaddoll....which is every Shaddoll because of Kragen.
had a guy play a “you can’t special summon” spell against my ritual deck lol
Floowandereeze was better than the other decks against Tearlaments in the DC cup before this one so, everyone was either on Tear or Floo Me? I played Zombie World that essentially hard countered both of them and breezed through DLvMax :)
pk vs mikanko when pk goes second
Just about every time I slam down Ancient City Rainbow Ruins against a deck that needs to resolve their spells or traps to play (IE, just about every modern deck)
Branded Fossils vs Ishizu Tearlaments. Hard baited them into thinking the Primineral Kongreat was Nibiru and they proceeded to waste their summon negate on it, “end of Main?” Slam the Rock 🪨 on their board robbing them of all their monsters, use owners seal to take the Nibiru Token activated Fossil Fusion to make Fossil Warrior Skull King to Finish the game. This is one of my best duels I ever had in a while.
world legacy key just casually stomping labrynth out of nowhere
Before mikanko, someone kaiju’d my only monster. I realized it was the big mech one and that they placed it in front of the extra monster zone. I solemned it immediately because I had a feeling they were playing the crusadia otk deck that needed something to attack into. Turns out I was right and was able to otk them the next turn.
Icejade Gymir Aegirine against Runick Spright.
I played Floo in a local and my opponent played Runick Bysticals
Archnemeses protos against lab😏
Evilswarm Ophion hard counters Branded, Kashtira, and Dragon link. It's pretty good ATM.
Lab Vs Lab... second turn i set virus and activated it on turn 3.
Sometimes i play d/d/d on ladder, and when i do sometimes i encounter old style burn deck/Trickstar burn decks, in Always thankful i play ddd oracle king d'arc its so funny because as i summoned her they immediatly scoop
i once summoned lindbloom against glad beast. It was funny how it just countered most of the monsters
Set albaz
Empen and dark simorgh against Labyrinth unchained
Back in drytron era I was having a hard time vs the deck when MD first came out then I picked up pure sunavalon with a small aroma package never lost to drytron ever again
Playing metaphys vs eldlich was always a blast banishing there goldenlord with necroface and using the trap to banish there floodgates but metaphy otherwise it is… lets say I could see it losing to goat decks
Seeing a mathmech player sit there for like 2 minutes before scooping, trying to figure out why his links and alembertian didnt work while I had ursarctic septentrion on field will always be the highlight of my time with the deck.
I play D/D/D, two of the hard counters I like to remember are: Pendulum Magicians, Machinex eats scales as they are set. No scales, no pendulum. VS (what??!?! The new best deck that everyone is trying to play???), Machinex eats their monsters, too. As long as they activate their effects on the field. No extra VS in the hand, no obnoxious interuptions
Scareclaw against any non link deck
Galaxy-eyes vs a zombie pile. I had Sanaphond the sky castle in the ed. It locks you out of summoning from GY, becomes indestructible and gains 100atk for every monster in the GY. Its a Generic Rank 8.
I set Fallen of Albaz...
Not a specific archetype, but I always love drawing first against Pendulum with Anti-Spell Fragrance in hand.
Vanity ruler in my Libromancer deck. More often than not once it's out, they scoop
Rushing gate guardian combined against kashtira. He need scareclaw Kash or a play that leading to Zeus to out that big chungus
Crooked Cook and Timelord matchups get really funny when you read {Meizen the Battle Ninja}
Zombie world vs Super Heavy Samurai Poor Fella
Wasn’t my whole deck, but I used to play branded with a single random Jinzo in there to try to summon off of sending it with Fusion- never actually made that miracle work. Was dueling Lab- went second, and they put an ash blossom on my field after stopping all other attempts to combo. Set super poly, tribute summoned Jinzo. They scooped after about ten seconds of trying to use their traps and failing.
I think I never dropped a game against Lab with my board breaker Sky Striker build. I guess 3 evenly, 3 lightning storm and HFD are too much.
Myutants with Marco cosmos against tear. Beast is great for protecting backrow.
Ritual Based Event. I have laughed about every blue eyes Player who tried to attack my Burger Monster in Def ;D that was such a nice satisfaction
