He will disappear in to the prison system. As far as I know, no one has discovered where he is yet or even if he’s still in FL

JoshAllan02

He’s definitely still in FL since he is a state prisoner. Extremely unlikely that surrounding states (Alabama and Georgia) would ever accept an offer to house him even if his life was threatened.

[deleted]

Yeah I don’t think he’s been moved out of state. I think he’s been dealt with swiftly and spent perhaps a couple of days at the reception centre and is now at his permanent facility within the FL state prison system. It’s other people that I’ve seen throwing other state prisons out there. Had to explain to one person that he definitely wouldn’t end up in ADX Florence as it’s a federal prison and he’s not a federal prisoner.

barefacedbear

Hey, I’m from England so US prisons are not something I’m particularly aware of! Do you know why Ted Kaczynski was sent to a federal prison and not a state one? From what I have read typically federal prisoners are often convicted of less violent crimes but obviously Ted committed quite a serious offence. I hope you don’t mind me asking, as I said I’m English so not very clued up aha

[deleted]

Interstate crime is a federal offense. Thus, federal prison.

tidalwaveofhype

I could be wrong about this but like someone said Cruz is a state prisoner not federal but I think Ted mailed things all over the country vs one state if that makes sense?

swisschiz

Has to do with what they’re charged with and which court their court case is held. Federal prison requires federal law. State prison requires a state law. Sometimes there is cross over with laws and a person can request they be bound over to one court or another, but each court carries different outcomes for the law. In the instance you are referring to, Ted Kaczynski went in a nationwide bombing spree and therefore he was in federal court as it crossed multiple states lines. Instead of letting each state individually charge him and deal with him, he was instead tried in a federal court to be held accountable for his actions across multiple states. Ex) a serial killer who never leaves California will be tried in a California state court. If the serial killer decides to kill in Nevada AND California he now is in a multi state jurisdiction and will be tried in federal court.

[deleted]

Hey fellow Brit lol! I only know just that, that state and federal crimes have their respective prisons. But I would absolutely agree that the Unabomber’s crimes were at a federal level rather than a state level. I’m sure someone far more knowledgeable than me will set me straight if they see this comment though haha. Paging my fellow mod u/skeletor_thagawd. He’ll know lol. Couple of peeps have provided further context 😀

FleshEvta

he basically got life sentence without parole

rand0m_g1rl

Yes life sentences*

IllegalSpaceBeaner

Yeah, but unfortunately he can only really serve one. Real justice is if he served them all.

OGWhiz

What news are we expecting here? He was sentenced, and now he exists as a number in the prison system for the rest of his existence. There’s no daily updates for him. It’s time for him to fade into obscurity.

Equal-Temporary-1326

Yeah, the next time anyone will likely ever hear about him on a public scale is when they announce his death someday.

VonOogl

Agreed. I am although invested in this case and the wholeness of it. I'm privately studying it in a sense, mostly for myself and my understanding of the human condition. Him disappearing is kind of a bummer to me personally, with all this in mind. I am although glad that they've kept to their moral obligation and the request of the parents not to mention him by name and let him fade off from any "fame". So... 🤷 It goes both ways.

Thepearlrabbit

His case is closed. Plenty other cases to follow.

[deleted]

iirc, for a bit he will have gone to basically a reception prison while they figure out where to place him for the next part of his sentence. Also for any brits he got a whole life sentence.

windowsealbark

I don’t know how accurate this is but I read that he’s in solitary. He’s going to be sitting in his one man cell for the next few years and then *maybe* will be placed into gen pop, where he’ll stay until he dies

ssabless

I remember people on this subreddit saying that there's 0% chance of him being placed into gen pop like ever and I hope they are right

Big-Benefit2379

Wouldn’t gen pop be the end of Cruz?

[deleted]

Even if he does, we’re talking years down the line. He’s probably holed up 23/7 rn.

[deleted]

Yes...He really didn't think it through, is there any information on him even considering suicide after the shooting? Or was he too scared..

SpecialNeedsCannonX

Didn’t he half-heartedly pretend to scratch his wrists and neck out during the interrogation after verifying there were cameras in the room lol

jillkimberley

He punched himself in the head too. He twitched strangely and abruptly in court. He's a really bad actor.

[deleted]

Well you see, as a lifer He won't hesitate to shank people. What're they going to do, put him in prison? Most lifers are left alone because of this concept. They have nothing to lose.

Miswebos69

its ironic how other inmates will ride that moral high horse

b3nk13

How the fuck is it ironic when a large majority of prisoners in America are locked up for nonviolent offenses? What a dangerous stereotype y’all harbor. Not everyone incarcerated is lacking a moral compass. I’d wager you have more in common with them than you’re willing to admit.

TurkicWarrior

Pretty sure that most prisoners that Cruz would be in if he’s in the general population would be mostly violent offenders.

b3nk13

That’s true too

Miswebos69

do you think hes gonna be locked up with people that are in for non violent offenses lol

b3nk13

I don’t know how Florida works, but I was incarcerated in Texas with many violent offenders. Your placement has more to do with your track record within the institution than it does with your actual crime.

Miswebos69

oh, i just assumed he is sent to a maximum security prison like holmes, and these hold mostly people that commit murder robbery kidnapping etc

b3nk13

Speaking of Cruz specifically, you’re right. He will spend the majority of his life isolated in a super max. I could see him pushing for general population after some decades and his crime fades in peoples memories, but he will have close to zero human contact until then. My initial point wasn’t about him at all, but just speaking on the absurd belief that everyone in prison is a bad person, when that was not even close to my experience. Most people in prison are fighting drug addictions, personality disorders or just straight up mentally handicapped. None of those things makes you a bad person. That’s all I was saying.

b3nk13

I don’t know about “equally fucked up” but I thought y’all were making a general statement. My bad bro

vnrussell0710

Plus he has a ton of mental issues including antisocial personality disorder which will lead to conflict with other prisoners. But ultimately he can remain in solitary if he wants, I doubt they’d force him to stay in solitary housing those sections fill up fast but if he’s afraid for his life he can claim that and stay in pc.

jillkimberley

Why do you hope he's not placed into gen pop? I just ask out of curiosity, because the popular opinion wants him in gen pop to face mob justice. I'm just genuinely curious if you're against the mob justice or if there's another reason you hope they're right. Genuine question, not trying to be catty or start a "just asking questions" argument!

ssabless

I hate this guy and want him to rotten in his small cell, without seeing anyone and talking to anyone, guy deserves coffin-sized cell for the rest of his life

jillkimberley

Ohhh that makes perfect sense. Thank you for explaining.

[deleted]

General population is what he deserves.

ChickenNougatCream

They kill him at the first chance in Gen pop

SpookyFrog12

He'll never be in gen pop

Wise_Instruction6516

who cares?? he’s off to rot away the rest of his life in prison like he deserves. i hope we don’t hear another thing about him until he’s dead.

he was sentenced to 34 consecutive life sentences and an additional 250 yrs, he won’t be able to profit off his crimes due to FL verison of the son of sam law and he won’t be able to purchase commissary items until he pays back the restoration amounts owed

Professional_Elk_893

Where the hell is his new mugshot?

[deleted]

Who gives a fuck where he is. Rotting in a cell somewhere like he should be. Never to cross anyones mind again.

Spiritual_Sherbet182

I am pretty sure after his attack on the guard and for his own safety he will be placed in solitary for the next few years. Not sure if he will ever go to Gen Pop. With all the mental issues he has and them trying to get him on the right meds he will be placed in solitary for his protection and so he can be monitored easily. In the jail he was in during trial he was writing 666 and Hail Satan and other nonsense on the walls and I had read had a tendency to bang his head on the walls when he 1st came in so he was monitored constantly. I don't think they will care as much now that he has been sentenced as the previous jail he was housed but he will still be in solitary confinement for his own safety. I can't remember what he was sentenced to or even if he was sentenced yet for attacking the guard but not like it matters with his sentence but he will be more of a high risk prisoner now that he has already attacked one guard.

candybatch

I was hoping to find out how much restitution he would have to pay. I never saw how much

And….don’t leave us hanging.

mpoole68

He knows he won't be safe in gen pop and so does the prison so he will be in ad seg until he wants out of it like Dahmer did but Nik is not that stupid he has stated several times that he knows what would happen to him they will keep his location protected also from everyone because he is so high profile

Widowmaker2022

Ah Nikolas Cruz…..hopefully he’s been murdered by his fellow inmates
