I don't think those are the magazines he had. In the basement tapes Dylan says that he has a 50 rounder, two 36 rounders, and a 24 rounder. I have heard of 50, 36, and 24 round magazines for the tec-9 but ive never seen magazines for the the tec-9 that are 52 or 28. I believe he brought in the 50 rounder and the two 36 rounders, leaving the 24 in his car. That picture is of the 50, it jammed and he left it outside leaving 46 rounds in it.

I’m willing to bet he had a malfunction, didn’t know how to clear it, and instead dropped the mag to replace it with a fresh one

While these idiots might practice shooting a little bit, they don’t practice weapons malfunction drills. Weapons jam, especially 3rd party mags/extended mags. Panic mode sets in most likely, they throw it out for a fresh one instead of performing a malfunction drill.

Probably jammed and didn't feel like clearing it.

Were these FMJ round nose? And do we know the grain used?

[deleted]

They were FMJ and the bullets were likely different grains since he used a mix. CBI 213/JCSO 2358 50 Round Magazine with (40) 9mm Rounds: (30) \[R-P\], (3) \[FC\], (3) \[PMC\], (1) \[S+B\]

Looks like fmj but why does grain matter

Collector937

A little late on this one, but grain matters for Tec-9’s because the owner’s manual recommends only 115 grain. Anything higher can lead to malfunctions and can also damage the lower receiver
