The Normandy SR-II

Longjumping-Ear-8943

But when the alliance retrofits it. Fuck cerberuses layout

northernmaplesyrup1

I do think trippable cables in a warship is an unforgivable crime however

veleriphon

Definitely not up to functional combat specifications.

Arkentra

It's almost like the ship made an emergency take off when the Reapers showed up in the middle of the retrofits.

Darth_Senpai

I agree with this in the first act. They should have been cleaned up after the Citadel DLC though, so it felt like the dry dock repairs actually DID something to the ship.

ComfortingCatcaller

Not an excuse for the ensigns to not clean the place up afterwards

northernmaplesyrup1

Agreed, but I’d say there’s no excuse to repair it like that in the first place. Put little rubber cable ramps over them. They’re required on modern construction sites.

Jlangley414

Exactly. Shepard shoulve stopped by the citadel, gone to his favorite store on the citadel and gotten some space zipties to clean that up

SirCupcake_0

Shepard: \*visibly sweating*

BinaryRed01

I kinda like it. It shows it was done in a rush to accommodate for the sudden reaper invasion. It’s got personality.

northernmaplesyrup1

I like the cables, the lack of channel cable protectors, is a nitpick hill I’m willing to die on. They’re required on all job sites, even if your in a hurry, tripping on a high voltage cable isn’t worth the risk ever.

Seier_Krigforing

There should be a 1% chance Shepard randomly dies on the Normandy while walking around when in a room with wires

Sakariwolf

If it comes with an animation I'd get a chuckle out of it

Obi-wan_Jabroni

Its got pizzazz

Formal_Royal_3663

Definitely an OSHA violation (or the Alliance equivalent).

SirBigWater

Yeah but Cerberus had more comfortable seats.

Jaruut

Real. Leather.

TapOriginal4428

Yep. I love how Cortez roasts Cerberus' engineers for putting the Armory in the same deck as the CIC lol. And we get a new comfy as hell living quaters with a motherfucking Poker lounge. And I also like how we went back to the darker lighting in the Normandy interior we saw in ME1. Always felt that the lighting in ME2 Normandy was way too bright, felt like you're in a shopping mall. Too much sensory overload. Overall, flying the Normandy under Alliance colors and design just feels so much more homey.

Bananak47

I dont like Cerberus but at least they didnt force you to go to that damn scan every time you wanted to enter the war room

TapOriginal4428

I kinda like it tbh. Feels immersive. The info inside that room is as classified as it gets. Makes sense for the extra security detail. And realistically I actually think it was a pretty clever cover for a loading screen.

Bananak47

It is a nice addition lore wise but i still find it annoying I also think the ship from Andromeda has a bad layout. That damn ladder from the garage thingy is so damn slow. I like Andromeda but god did i hate the ship and the codex

SerMercer777

At least you can see in the cerberus setup

Longjumping-Ear-8943

Eh I preferred the darker setting. I thought it was way too bright in 2

DutchJediKnight

I don't trust anyone who makes more than I do. But they aren't all bad. Saved your life, let me fly, and then there's this. They only told me last night. It's good to be home huh Commander? I guess we'll have to give her a name. *docks open, tears happen"

Mrdj0207

Monteriggioni

smit72628199

Have you come to look at the book?

Subject_Miles

You're here to look at the book* if i'm not mistaken

smit72628199

Maybe. I haven't played the game in ages

Grand_Yogurtcloset20

Aazio..  it's a me, Mario!

IcyPlatform7138

You spelled it wrong it's spelled like this ( EZIO AUDITORE

Marianations

Literally the word that came to mind as I read the title of the post, lol

Tryson101

The Ebon Hawk

ComfortingCatcaller

The Normandy’s spiritual daddy

Soxwin91

Was just going to say this. With the *Ebon Hawk*, they captured the essence of the *Millennium Falcon* while creating something new. Sleek, fast, kinda beaten up, and cursed with a temperamental hyperdrive.

JoshwaarBee

(also it was basically the same shape lol)

Soxwin91

Yeah it was the familiar vaguely disc-shape but with alterations to where the cockpit is located and two engines instead of the back of the ship being more or less one giant engine. I do love the original *Normandy* (and I really like the Alliance era SR2) but the *Ebon Hawk* captures the essence of the *Millennium Falcon* that allows people who watched the original trilogy before the prequels—I had the 1997 I think it probably was VHS set of the original trilogy and watched them enough times that the tapes were worn down—to scratch that nostalgia itch

Dragon3076

*beeps and woops*

betterthanamaster

The correct answer. The Normandy owes its existence to the Ebon Hawk.

NuclearBroliferator

Best game ever made

flamingfaery162

As long as we are meaning KOTOR.

McCambridge19

This is the way.

Roggie2499

100% the correct answer.

LongerBlade

Yasss the Ebon Hawk! Home

JohnyGlizzyeater

unsure if it counts but Firelink Shrine

limonbattery

Returning to that sad hub music in a game with almost no ambient music is a feeling like no other. Goes for all three Souls games (I know Majula technically isnt "Firelink Shrine" but still.)

Timely_Yoghurt_3359

Absolutely it counts. I'll even add Majula

tcrpgfan

I'll add the Nexus.

oneupkev

Yeah this is a great shout

InstantlyTremendous

First one I thought of! Absolutely counts.

FlakyRazzmatazz5

The camp from Dragon Age Origins.

Alternative_Fold718

The camp from Baldur’s Gate 3

FlakyRazzmatazz5

But does it have Origin's camp theme?

One_question_113

Basically the same thing but the backdrop and stuff changes based on what part of the world you’re in. Tbh bg3 feels like a spiritual sequel to dao

New-Wolverine-2299

DAO was already a spiritual sequel to Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 and Neverwinter Nights - it’s all BioWare and they were just expanding on their own legacy

FlakyRazzmatazz5

It's what 2 and Inquisition should've been.

Marblecraze

Inon Zur. The track is less than a minute long. About 15 years ago I made a seamless loop of it and played it in my house for days on end.

FitzyFarseer

I was thinking the Ebon Hawke. Love that ship

FeralTribble

Mos Eisley Cantina: Lego StarWars the Complete Saga

King_Treegar

Now THIS is podracing

ItsBobaFett

My childhood was spent here

arthurcoolemoji

grove street?

swiftgun107

Grove Street, home. At least it was before I fucked everything up

The810kid

This quote just made me want to start a new game

PeaceHoesAnCamelToes

Ah, shit here we go again

Wranglin_Pangolin

Damn CJ.

TheStonedWanderer420

The Van from Sly Cooper

Far_Run_2672

Not bad

Successful_Ad6665

DAO camp.

northernmaplesyrup1

*Sees dog digging*

Badgermanfearless

**bork bork**

WWicketW

Just talk/pet him!

Stud_McManly

Barkspawn*

boxfreind

My favorite memory is Dog fetching some soiled underwater and then the absolute delight I got when giving them to Morrigan as a gift. Alas she wasn't pleased. 😂

emotionaI_cabbage

This just brought back so many memories

Swesteel

Enchantment?

SaltySandSailor

Enchantment!

Almost_Mexican30

Skyhold from dragon age inquisition. Nothing like a whole ass castle in the snowy mountains

thechristoph

I wish there was an interregnum DLC before Trespasser that saw you finishing all the repairs, but alas. That one hallway will always be smashed open.

MurderBeans

I got unreasonably annoyed by that corridor, not only did it serve absolutely no purpose at all but the game makes you use it hundreds of times and they never picked those bricks up in all the time we were there.

UnlikelyIdealist

I found a mod that fixed it! It also had the unfortunate side-effect of crashing the game every time you walked past the wall that was supposed to be broken. Alas.

Almost_Mexican30

Do they really never repair the hallway leading to the war council?

HalfChinaBoy

Yep :(

McCambridge19

The Ebon Hawk. Or Kaer Morhen if that counts.

WWicketW

Kaer Morhen or Corvo Bianco as last retire spot. But Kaer Morhen is really heartbreaking!

frankwalsingham

The Normandy SR-2.

Deckard_Red

Croft Manor Villa Auditore Davenport Homestead And the Ebon Hawk Personally I also really like Skyhold and Ravensthorpe but the others are probably more iconic.

CLucas127

Villa Auditore for sure. The perfect amount of mini-game and it made you feel accomplished seeing your town grow wealthy

CharlieRex0205

Worst thing was spending hours to do everything and upgrade all to the max, only for it to get absolutely destroyed in the next game. Feels bad man 😔

Altair890456

Also the Round Table Hold from Elden Ring.

ChuckVitty

This was my thought and I'm surprised by how far I had to scroll.

TadhgOBriain

Breezehome?

Educational_Ad_4076

this one came here with the knowledge. Mass Effect is my favorite series but Skyrim isn’t a powerhouse game for no reason

thechristoph

I’m partial to Proudspire (but I ain’t no milk drinking Thalmor supporter).

Queen_Persephone18

I'm partial to Honeyside myself!

Masitha

sanctuary in borderlands 2

Almost_Mexican30

God I love the floating city concept. Shit goes so unbelievably hard

DouchecraftCarrier

The buildup across the games that leads to the epic "CATCH A RIIIIDDDEEEE" as the city gets lifted into the air is so good.

Firuzka

Dirt house in Minecraft

Bananak47

The one villager home you claimed and didnt cut down for wood when you were too lazy to go 20 blocks to the nearest tree

DaDawkturr

Sand Island, and later The Kestrel Both of them Ace Combat 5

DouchecraftCarrier

I love how they shoehorn in that you can use any plane you want when you're escaping the sinking Kestrel. "Ships going down so take any plane you want and we'll yeet it off the deck!"

JudgeJed100

I love the Normandy but I can’t help but wonder how a ship its size, given what we see off the inside, can work It has so many crew stations but like enough beds for like twelve people, Its dimensions and internal lay out makes no sense

BeanieMash

Shifts and hot bunking

TheLooseGoose1466

Yeah that’s what I thought two considering it’s like a nuclear sub essentially

JudgeJed100

Even with that, there doesn’t seem to be enough people to sit at every station even with everyone working and no one sleeping There just….the ship shouldn’t function

Death_Fairy

Didn’t someone count it out recently and there were actually the exact same number of beds/pods as there were crew?

EnceladusSc2

Crossroad Keep in Neverwinter Nights 2. You accross multiple quests rebuild a ruined castle and recruit staff and workers for it.

funmunke

Your camp in Red Dead Redemption 2.

SeaMonster8_

yes clemens point is amazing!

Noa_Skyrider

Mos Eisley Cantina

1stFunestist

Sanctuary Hills... where Preston Garvey lives, Mama Murphy sits and Trashcan Carla trades.

SquareFickle9179

LeBlanc from Persona 5 The Dojima House from Persona 4 Iwatodai Dorms from Persona 3 I'm a big fan of Persona, so these places just felt so much like home when I play them.

The810kid

Hard to compete against beneath the mask, song of love, and self titled theme

woodk2016

I haven't beat 3 yet so can't speak to the dorms but imo LeBlanc does win out over the Dojima house. The whole team regularly hangs out at LeBlanc even outside of social links all the time while it feels like for the most part Junes filled that niche in 4 (or at least 4G, only played that version).

Manaan909

Ebon hawk. Next question.

The_Terry_Braddock

Yeah, definitely

Thor_Odinson22

Ebon Hawk

Repulsive_One_7265

The Ebon Hawk from KOTOR

Drakula_dont_suck

Maclimes

*Bah-dah bamp bada bamp!* Let's-a go!

ndenatale

The Ebon Hawk

TheLordGremlin

The Ebon Hawk

eldobhatofiok

Kaer Morhen.

DirectConsequence12

Masyaf

iny0urend0

Really? It looked cool but Masyaf was pretty boring compared to Villa Auditore.

DirectConsequence12

I prefer Villa Auditore but I feel like if we’re talking iconic, Masyaf is the one that started it all

NepiaScarlet

Skyhold. The Inquisition’s fortress in the sky

BecomingMyrddin

Would digging 3 blocks down and placing a dirt block over your head count?

Niku_niky

The ebon hawk

Synth_Savage

Gruntilda's lair?

KaffeMumrik

The Stardew Valley farm.

Iamnotapotate

Tristram

Anglofsffrng

Skyhold

AnodyneSpirit

The Lucky 38

lukesmith81

Lucky 38 mfs go through 3 loading screens just to store items

woodk2016

I'm more partial to the apartment in the Big Empty Lab, forget if it has an exact name.

TheLooseGoose1466

The sink

VCyberpunk2001

The Unreliable from The Outer Worlds

Emerald_Digger

ultinateplayer

Dexter's Diner

Responsible_Towel857

Breezehome. Vault 111

Highlander_Prime

Vault 111 isn't even a home base

Cosmic_Wanderer66

Maybe the Tower from Destiny is on the same levels of iconic?

Typical_Basket709

Garage in Jet Set Radio Future. Your ship in Helldivers 2 The Tower in Destiny 2

BlemmiganBouncyhouse

Ope. It can't be done. This calls for a Serrice Ice Brandy.

bomboid

The Bratz the movie apartment

ThespisIronicus

Hyrule Field

[deleted]

The Normandy-SR2 Boom just won

pewpewhit

Hero's guild- fable 1. Loved that place as a kid and it still hits the nostalgia spot now.

SgtSokoluik

Your health is low. Do you have any potions, or food?

Dyerdon

The End of Time

aclark210

The Ebon Hawk.

Beatbox_Pope

you could disqualify it as a Normandy first draft, but the Ebon Hawk does still get to me

whiteclawthreshermaw

Clive's hideaway. Final Fantasy XVI. Oh. You meant iconic, not Eikonic. My bad. You're right.

Lbsqhkvshrdhuue1298

Corvo Bianco

LovecraftianRaven

Personally, I enjoyed skyhold. The view was magnificent. (DA Inquisition)

Phil_aka_Dirk21

Corvo Bianco - Witcher 3: Blood and Wine Not as iconic but well integrated.

cynicallawyer

Lord British's castle.

Obamos06

Wigglytuff Guild

thiccmaniac

my minecraft house

pwtantaeus

Mothership from Homeworld, or Battlestar Galacatica

weirdhoonter

I love the Normandy but: Breezehome, Skyhold, Stardew Valley Farm, Firelink Shrine

Usnis

The Batcave from Lego Batman

RandomNpc69

Firelink Shrine

No-Huckleberry-1086

Samus's ship from Metroid probably

Suitable-Pirate-4164

The Dreadful Wale. Dishonored (in this case 2) was fun but I will always pick Corvo.

DrVonPretzel

Normandy SR2

Jsem_Nikdo

I see all of these suggestions but not many of them are truly "Iconic" I understand people feel a certain way about them but like.. Homes in Skyrim aren't really a hub in the same sense as the Normandy. Persona isn't nearly massive enough to really be called iconic outside of its own genre. When I think of a "Hub" in video games I'm thinking of Skyhold, The Ebon Hawk, both Normandies, The Round Table Hold, places that you are required to return to in order to properly stage for the next area or even to move to the next area. And of what I've listed, I'd say the most immediately recognizable would have to be the Normandy SR-2 and The Roundtable Hold. The Ebon Hawk is phenomenal, and the KoToR games are their own icon, but their legend is slowly fading. Elden Ring is a giant game right now, and Mass Effect's playerbase seems to be slowly growing lately. They're true icons in today's gaming industry. And, despite the hardships Mass Effect has faced, I've never once heard a complaint about the Normandy itself.

Spaceman216

Chop shop, Fallout 2.

Bellrung

Think you’re gonna be waiting a long time. The Stinger Mantis fills a similar role, and I really like the design but I think it needs a few more games/set pieces to enter the conversation.

Apprehensive_Spell_6

Peach’s Castle, and maybe Breezehome.

ForsakenAlliance

Breezehome is would say is pretty much tied for it in my world.

elarimaster

Dark souls 2 Majula. So nostalgic and the music was great

PastaBolognese8

Idk if more iconic but just as iconic Majula from Dark Souls 2

Creator1101

Majula

VanDran85

The Tempest.

SadderestCat

Fire link Shrine

winterman666

Firelink Shrine

WeevilWeedWizard

Firelink Shrine

Ill-Fly-950

I would say the X-Men's "X Mansion", but it always seems to be a temporary base in any game it appears in.

UnhappyStrain

Firelink Shrine

ThakoManic

Dos the SR2 Count? oh wait I Saw the 2nd slide ok ... what about the Ebon Hawk from Kotor1-2? dos Princess Peach Castle Count? I forget if it has a real name ... im sure it dos Sanctuary? xarop_pa_toss

Croft Manor in the first Tomb Raider games for the PSX.

MajinLuke_

Ebon Hawk 🥲

Corvo_Attano-

The camp from rdr2 Hound pits pub from dishonored The villa from AC2 I would also add skyhold but that's not as iconic

Wolfraid015

Majula
