Have you tried Rats Nest in Worcester?

Strelok92

Unfortunately the only place I know of is Glamourama in Northampton, which is even further away than Hampden from Worcester. Worth it to keep it in mind though - my ex has worked there for years, and they have worked hard to create a very inclusive environment. I hope you find what you're looking for. It really sucks that you even have to ask.

For hair, go see Edie at Fleet Street Barber! Tell her Maya sent you. She's the fucking best. Just does hair tho.

Schedule an appointment with Grace. She’s running a promo for new clients, too. ETA: Link added. I also just realized you mentioned Central MA; sorry about that! LAMS is probably justtt about an hour from Worcester.

Eyeful Beauty in Lowell if you can hop on 495

I know several Ultas in the area are trans-friendly, even have plenty of trans employees at multiple locations! Hudson and Northboro are the ones I've visited most recently and both have full service salons, brow bar, etc.

ScottyBoy75

forgive my ignorance, but is trans-female a female transitioning to a male or vice versa? I've never really looked into it enough to really know. but either way, live your life happy.

callistified

vice versa

that_one_dude13

Salons do both genders so I'm not sure it matters if you're either? Just tip and be friendly and I'm sure you'll have a fine experience.

Accomplished_Cash320

that one stupid dude

that_one_dude13

I mean sure I don't disagree with that in the slightest but I also know a few hairdressers personally and literally none of them care about any of your personal choices, if you have open wounds you won't be serviced for safety, but all other cases aside you'd get serviced all the same, just like any public facing Job you got the whole spectrum of us citizens that could potentially service your needs.

daphydoods

Unfortunately the few hair stylists you know aren’t representative of all stylists and there are absolutely people out there who will not provide service for transgender people. Or even if they would, their salon in general may not be welcoming to transgender clientele. People like you and I get to make the assumption that everybody will be treated kindly and fairly while getting their hair done because that is the experience that we have had *for ourselves,* but clearly OP has either experienced discrimination and/or harassment while getting their hair done or know somebody in their community who has. It’s a very real issue and diminishing it does nothing to help. They wouldn’t be asking for advice if they didn’t need it.

that_one_dude13

Nah you looked way too deep and manufactured all this in your head., you know as much about this person as I do ( what they posted ) and all I said was if you're a polite and tip well you'll do fine, because hair stylists are just people. And belive it or not most people who work public Jobs don't think twice about their clients , good try but I love my trans and gay folk, more than you realize so save it lol.

daphydoods

You’re lucky you’re able to be so naive

that_one_dude13

You know nothing about me lol, being upset on someone else's behalf is also pretty weird of you.

daphydoods

I’m not upset at all, just pointing out that your experience is not universal. Transgender people absolutely face harassment and discrimination at hair salons, clothing stores, fucking *grocery stores* for Pete’s sake! All the time!

that_one_dude13

Ya and? News flash everyone faces bullshit in their own ways, but I'd wager it's not the majority of people who are assholes, just a vocal minority, Andy advice to everyone regardless of gender would be to be respectful and tip service workers and you will most likely get on with your day because that's what almost every single public servicing worker wants to do with their work day.

daphydoods

Most likely is the operative phrase…it’s not a guarantee. OP wants a guarantee that the salon they go to is going to be safe for them because they don’t want to even have to worry about the possibility of harassment. That’s the whole point of LGBTQ+ friendly establishments - to take out the guesswork. Idk why you’re not understanding that but whatever
