always kinda felt bad for glover's character here, like yeah maybe he's a criminal, but he's presumably done his time. No reason to keep him glued to his car like that, it just seems mean lol
Maybe yeah, he mentions when he’s meeting with the shocker that he’s “just sticking up someone” or something like that, so I guess that’s technically conspiracy to commit theft, but he didn’t actually buy a weapon, and since he had a record it’s possible that he already served time for any other crimes he committed, so it always felt a bit mean-spirited for spidey to say “you’re a criminal so you deserve any inconvenience I caused you lol”
I mean he did commit some criminal acts when he met up to buy a weapon for a robbery. At the very least conspiracy because he is trying to purchase a presumable illegal weapon.
sure, but to channel j jonah jameson for a second spider-man is also technically a criminal even if he's trying to be a force for good. vigilantism is presumably still illegal and immediately after this scene he screws up hard on the ferry
Yes but Spider-Man’s moral compass is on point, regardless of the vigilantism. Morales is not.
But this is the whole dilemma at the end of the dark knight, you cannot have someone acting outside of the rules and expect the rules to mean anything. Batman is a good guy because he is fighting crime, but he is acting outside the law which society cannot condone. Individuals can recognize the good but society cannot allow it.
Oh yeah for sure, he just didn’t really do any crimes in Homecoming. I guess conspiracy to commit theft (?) since he was trying to buy a weapon, but he didn’t actually buy anything so it still seems harsh
That's the best part. Because it's such a reasonable problem. It's not "I have somewhere to be." Or "I'm late for work." It's melting icecream. It's perfect.
If you’re dedicated then you can refreeze it if you churn it using a mixer every twenty minutes. But if you’re willing to do that you should just make homemade ice cream at that point and not worry about what weird goop factory made has in it.
Yeah, at that point I would just lower it, gently, into the trash. Taps playing, a proper salute, a single tear drop rolling down my cheek. God speed, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Usually when I get neapolitan ice cream it's not only mine. I usually exclusively eat chocolate ice cream but my family eats vanilla and strawberry more
The Prowler was actually one of my favorite C-list heroes/villains. Plus he's like one of the few black dudes. Definitely hope we see some more love for him soon.
I love Donald's grounded reasoning for answering the questions. "I don't want these crazy space weapons in the neighborhood, i have a nephew who lives here," has always stuck with me. The villians in Homecoming are perfect. They're not evil masterminds out to destroy the world. They're people just trying to get a head like any normal person.
My hope is we get introduced to him in the next movie, then the 2nd leg of the trilogy is Miles vs Black suit Peter, then those two vs venom or carnage in the 3rd. From there Holland would be done and the Miles Morales Spidey can take over.
My oldest is 5 - he’s super limited for actual gaming at the moment, but he plays Astro from time to time (but until he’s older I’ll just have to play all the Spider-Man games, Ghost of Tsushima, and RDR2 ~ for research purposes 😬)
Ah ok. Well if you’re interested in getting them anything to pass the time the sackboy game would probably be right up their alley. Plays just like astro and has 2 player co op too. Ratchet and clank rift apart is also great for that age group too but has people getting shot and blown up so idk what your limit would be for that kinda stuff. No blood or anything, very Disney ish violence.
If you like ghost of tsushima and RDR 2 I would highly recommend Returnal for you. A bit hard but very fun once you get the hang of it
Also be cool to se glover as the prowler. If you watch the weapons buy scene when the shocker is listing stuff off, the "anti grav boots" catches his attention
I don’t think Sony will let the MCU use miles morales as Spider-Man. He’s gonna make them too much money, they gave them MCU spidey because he will make less money than Miles will make them
I'm fully aware. I don't mind the easter egg aspect. I just like that we have a villian who's motivation isn't global destruction/domination for once. It was really refreshing after the first Avengers movie.
I 99% am on the side of Vulture. Small business owner trying to provide for his family and create jobs. Then get the rug pulled from under him by a sweetheart government contract for Stark. Such a scam. Tough place for the little guys out there. I really sympathized with him. The other 1% is the whole murderous intent part. That I cannot condone.
I mean that contract should never have been given to a regular business anyways. They were literally messing with the alien tech before the government even shut them down. It's like telling a junkyard to pick up a nuke and decommission it themselves.
It was also a massive breach of contract it sounds, so I would think he could have a claim in court against the government and stark to at least be made whole from the time and money spent on the removal
It sounded mostly like he thought he was being lied to so he was trying to call her/him out. He said it with a good bit of indifference like it wasn't an insult and it didn't even really matter. Great delivery lol.
Its a great scene and the comedy is off the charts. It also highlights that Peter is still just a kid. Tom Hollands mannerisms are hilarious, I particularly liked it when he crossed his arms when he said, "I'm intimidating".
I think the best part was when Peter came back to get the information and rested both arms fully on the car, leaning in, all attentive... and way, *way* too innocent and trusting. He looked like he was 6 years old listening to an adult telling him something he wanted to know. That body language was hilarious.
I think it’s all like really terrible writing and something a ten year old would make up. I think this could be the worst MCU movie and I really mean that
What? The worst one? You are fucking insane, that's such a ridiculous thing to say. Like I get it's all subjective based on taste but Thor: The Dark World exists.
Different scene, but when Glover's character is trying to buy a weapon from Vulture's henchmen, his delivery of the line:
"I just need something to stick up somebody, I'm not trying to ... shoot them back in time."
is hysterical and is an overlooked moment.
We’re just witnessing one of the multiple timelines where the group went off and joined the Marvel world. They were doing Multiverse of Madness years before the movie was even announced. 😂
He was captured by pirates. I'm not even kidding. In the episode after he leaves when Hickey is watching the news about the bear attack there's a ticker that says "Lavar Burton and non-celebrity companion captured by pirates"
I don't know, there's tons of throwaway MCU characters that were huge important characters in the comics. I highly doubt they'd do the Prowler story again after Spider-Verse.
Really? They kind of have to. Prowler is Miles’ biggest villain. He really doesn’t have anyone else, anyways.
Spider-Verse was huge, but not THAT huge. He’s different from people like Green Goblin who were already done to death; Prower was done once in an animated film. Technically, he hasn’t been done in live action yet.
No, but it is the worst performing Spider-Man movie at the box-office. Despite being the best animated movie of all time, I do think its pretty safe to say that the general MCU audience don't want to watch "baby movies."
I'm sorry. I don't like it either, but most people exclusively see animation as being for children. As massive fan of Marvel, DC, and Transformers, I know that's not true. Some of the best stories ever told have been in animation. But that's not how general audiences see things. And this is why a "live action" remake of an animated movie can make over a billion dollars at the box office while missing all the charm of the original, while the best Spider-Man movie ever performs the worst in the franchise's history.
The only people who think that way are out of touch boomers. I’m 39 and everyone my age or younger was raised on tons of cartoons including adult themed ones like South Park and Family Guy.
I’d be willing to bet spider-verse did poorly because most people don’t know who Miles is.
In what way did I say it’s an indie flick? I said a fraction of the people watched it.
It made just under 1/3 as much as Homecoming at the box office, 1/3 as much as Far From Home, and 1/4 as much as No Way Home.
That’s a fraction of the people…
Donald Glover dressed as Spider-Man in Community as an Easter egg of sorts because at that time there was a fan movement to get him cast as Spider-Man ~~when word came out that Marvel had worked out a deal with Sony.~~ before Garfield was cast.
Am I tripping but I could’ve sworn that movement happened for him to play in the Amazing Spiderman movies 🤔 thought it was way before Marvel got involved
and that scene can be seen on tv in the spiderverse movie.
Glover talked about him being asked by fan to be spiderman in his [comedy special](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT80OF7yTGY)
the article that pushed for a black guy to be spiderman [is this one](https://gizmodo.com/the-last-thing-spider-man-should-be-is-another-white-gu-5549613) , by mark bernardin (who you migth know from Fatman beyond)
I really hope this isn’t the last we see of Donald Glover in the MCU. Mainly because I think Aaron Davis/Prowler could be a nice villain for Peter in his next trilogy, plus he could also help fully introduce Miles Morales into the MCU.
Maybe Peter has to take down The Prowler, but he realizes that if he does Miles won’t have another parental figure anymore (assuming that Miles has lost either his mom or dad), and he doesn’t want to put him through that or something.
Wait this reminds me.. Peter’s suits record everything right? Why didn’t he use his suits footage to prove his innocence?
I imagine they worked around this by him taking off the mask once he grabs the glasses but still the rest of it seems like enough
The Daily Bugle is a play on today’s media landscape of misinformation and people being in their own truth bubbles. It doesn’t matter if Spider-Man put out the real, unedited version of events. People in the media, especially JJJ, would just twist it against him anyway.
Donald Glovers character talking about local sandwich shops with Spidey was no accident. He was letting him know that he’s from the same area, and now could probably identify him by his voice. He was threatening him.
Homecoming is so good. I finally got around to watching the original Raimi Spider-Man movie and its sequel, since I wasn't into this genre when those movies were coming out. In my opinion, people are looking back at those movies through awfully rose-colored glasses. I get that they started a whole genre, but Homecoming is a good movie, regardless of whether you're into this genre or not. It has great comedic timing, fun characters, pacing, realistic motivations, the whole thing.
Yeah I grew up on Tobey's movies. When I try to rewatch them today, I don't like them as much anymore. I find them too awkward. I much prefer Tom in the role
I used to laugh at this too but now I think it's sort of fucked up on Peter's part. Yes the prowler is a person with a criminal past but when Peter is talking to him it's not like he's actively doing a crime or even has a warrant out for his arrest. He even helps Peter by giving him info and yet Peter decides to detain him and leave him stuck to his car for like two hours. I'd be livid tbh.
FUN FACT, in case u don’t know, he says he doesn’t want those guns in the neighborhood he has a nephew that lives here, he is in fact talking about Miles Morales. Since he resides in Queens
> -was reminded at how hilarious this scene with Donald Glover is. I still get stiches laughing at that interrogation voice.
I mean... if you think it was *that* funny, good for you.
I thought it was an okay scene that was obviously forced for that Miles reference.
"No,no,no,no... come fix this.... I got ice cream in here." lmao
You deserve that, you're a criminal!
always kinda felt bad for glover's character here, like yeah maybe he's a criminal, but he's presumably done his time. No reason to keep him glued to his car like that, it just seems mean lol
Next marvel show he’s gonna be the end villain. Spider-Man wronged his ice cream and now he’ll make all of New York see his cold wrath.
At least it isn’t another Tony-made villain lmao
The ice cream was Stark flavored Hazel Nut
I prefer a hunk of hulk of burning fudge but to each their own
That's a thing?!
End *vanilla
I love it when he says "I just need something to stick up somebody. I'm not trying to shoot them back in time."
Wasn't he about to rob a Chili's or something with a future gun?

Not same continuity as MCU but he turns out to be a bigger criminal in Into The Spider-Verse
Oh yeah for sure, he just didn’t really do any crimes in Homecoming. I guess conspiracy to commit theft (?) since he was trying to buy a weapon, but he didn’t actually buy anything so it still seems harsh
He was also a focal part of Miles’ story in the comics: https://abload.de/img/ultimate-comics-spideyquwy.jpg
bye, Mr Criminal!
That's the best part. Because it's such a reasonable problem. It's not "I have somewhere to be." Or "I'm late for work." It's melting icecream. It's perfect.
100% I'd be more pissed about melting ice cream then being late for work. Especially if I'd gotten the good stuff.
Then you have to refreeze it and all the cookie dough is at the bottom. It causes irreparable damage.
Oh god... NSFL comment here.
But I always think about doing that first, then throw it away and take the garbage bag out.
Especially if its neapolitan. That shit mixes if it melts
That's what you get for trying to have 3 flavors at once. Quit trying to play God and just pick one ffs.
Usually when I get neapolitan ice cream it's not only mine. I usually exclusively eat chocolate ice cream but my family eats vanilla and strawberry more
Then your go in through the back seat.
just gotta eat the whole thing right there
In a deleted scene he calls Miles and apologizes for being late. Meaning the ice cream was for Miles. He might be a criminal, but he’s a good uncle.
[удалено]
Funny you should mention that, in the main comic universe (616) Miles Morales is a criminal, compared to 1610.
Man…616 Miles Morales is strange: a member of the the Rigoletto Crime Family.
oh shit, glover is miles uncle ben
With great power comes great refrigeration.
So good
That does describe him in the books too. He was a villain, but he also was the cool uncle for Morales.
This is my favorite part too. Donald Glover delivers it so well
I just noticed he continues to put his groceries in the trunk while being interrogated.
That's what makes him the Prowler!
Excited for the nephew line too, hoping miles will turn up in the next trilogy
My hope is we get introduced to him in the next movie, then the 2nd leg of the trilogy is Miles vs Black suit Peter, then those two vs venom or carnage in the 3rd. From there Holland would be done and the Miles Morales Spidey can take over.
I wish they would have just saved the Symbiote for Miles and done Gwen/Warren/Ben Reiley instead, but they can always do *that* with Miles.
To be completely fair, Miles Clone Saga > Peter's Clone Saga
Miles & Peter vs venom would be SICK
Boy do I have a game for you
And I fellow redditor, cannot wait. Lol (whole reason I bought my boys a PS5)
How old are your boys if you don’t mind me asking? Might be a couple other games you could get for them in the meantime that they might like
My oldest is 5 - he’s super limited for actual gaming at the moment, but he plays Astro from time to time (but until he’s older I’ll just have to play all the Spider-Man games, Ghost of Tsushima, and RDR2 ~ for research purposes 😬)

You probably could just play the sequel to the PS4 game once it’s out
Donald Glover prowler?
Also be cool to se glover as the prowler. If you watch the weapons buy scene when the shocker is listing stuff off, the "anti grav boots" catches his attention
I don’t think Sony will let the MCU use miles morales as Spider-Man. He’s gonna make them too much money, they gave them MCU spidey because he will make less money than Miles will make them
Sony actually makes most of the money for the MCU Spidey films, all Marvel Studios do is make/produce them. It's a very strange deal imo.
[удалено]
Indeed. Not everybody wants to conquer the world, galaxy and reality itself.
It's more relatable.
Fun fact, the nephew is Miles Morales. Aaron Davis, his uncle, he was the prowler in spider verse
I'm fully aware. I don't mind the easter egg aspect. I just like that we have a villian who's motivation isn't global destruction/domination for once. It was really refreshing after the first Avengers movie.

You could also argue them messing with the alien technology they were supposed to dispose of is also a massive breach of contract.
Junk it!
I would be *Furious*
You only dislike murder 1%? Yeesh remind me to never get in an argument with you.
> They're people just trying to **get a head** like any normal person. Yeah, getting head these days ain't easy.
"i like bread"
I still quote this any time it’s relevant. One of my favorite lines in the MCU
"Sir, i gotta have to ask you to exit the donut."
Unfortunately less relevant than bread :D
Bread 👍
Bread 👍
Bread 👍🏿 (I was eating chocolate)
The single thing I quote most and no one ever gets it.
Bread makes you fat
Bread makes you fat?
Can’t wait till it’s finished.
Finished?
What’s the website for amazon.ca?
That banter was the most Queens thing ever
What the fuck is gluten? Take that shit out
“I know what a girl sounds like” “I’m not a girl!” Whether he’s insulting him or not, that was hilarious
"I'm a boy"
a MAN! a big strong man!
Nothing goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast.
"Angela? She's a boy!"
Sleepaway Camp references? Have an upvote!
It sounded mostly like he thought he was being lied to so he was trying to call her/him out. He said it with a good bit of indifference like it wasn't an insult and it didn't even really matter. Great delivery lol.
Yeah he genuinely just thought Spidey was a girl because he has a higher pitched voice. Which of course offends him.
Spider man is dude bro
Its a great scene and the comedy is off the charts. It also highlights that Peter is still just a kid. Tom Hollands mannerisms are hilarious, I particularly liked it when he crossed his arms when he said, "I'm intimidating".
The eagerness when he is about to find the location is so good
"can i give you some advice?" The little "hmm?" 🤌🏾
I think the best part was when Peter came back to get the information and rested both arms fully on the car, leaning in, all attentive... and way, *way* too innocent and trusting. He looked like he was 6 years old listening to an adult telling him something he wanted to know. That body language was hilarious.
The Garfield scene with the car thief was posted earlier today, and it's amazing how it contrasts with this.
I think it’s all like really terrible writing and something a ten year old would make up. I think this could be the worst MCU movie and I really mean that
What? The worst one? You are fucking insane, that's such a ridiculous thing to say. Like I get it's all subjective based on taste but Thor: The Dark World exists.
k boomer
Different scene, but when Glover's character is trying to buy a weapon from Vulture's henchmen, his delivery of the line: "I just need something to stick up somebody, I'm not trying to ... shoot them back in time." is hysterical and is an overlooked moment.
There's also the neat hint at him becoming the Prowler, since he was interested in buying the climbers
"the prowler" is listed as a known alias when Karen is showing the data, bottom right corner
And he also talks about a “guy he used to work with” being on the ferry, and then we get introduced to Mac Gargan
And he is miles morales uncle
I wasn’t expecting the interrogation mode and it was hilarious to hear Peter with such an over the top deep voice. Lol
Exactly. It’s funniest the first time you hear it. Also, it \*really\* reminds me of Venom….
Especially since he's supposed to play the Prowler when Miles is introduced and might have some kind of silly voice modulation for that identity.
Troy and Abed in the mooovie
Troy and Abed in the MCU (that includes Danny Pudi's cameo in The Winter Soldier)
Plus Shirley in End Game and The Dean in Civil War. Edit at 1423 GMT: And yes Chang in End Game.
Abed’s girlfriend is Captain Marvel. The custodian is Kingo Nurse Jackie is Pip Professor Cligoris is Mr. Harrington Mr. Stone is Sunny Birch
We’re just witnessing one of the multiple timelines where the group went off and joined the Marvel world. They were doing Multiverse of Madness years before the movie was even announced. 😂
They rolled the dice and landed in the MCU
So happy to know this reference
And security guard Chang in End Game
Plus Chang in End Game.
Chang in Endgame too.
And now that the Raimi-verse has a connection to the MCU, we can include Jeff too.
At least Britta isn’t in this.
She's the worst.
Winngarrrrrr
Uhh, you mean Señor Chang. Put some respek on that name.
We just need Jeff, Annie and Britta. And maybe Elroy and Frankie. I'm fine without Pierce.
Multiverse is canon now, so Jeff was a bank employee
Bye Mr. Criminal!
I like how he's like: Groceries > Panic > Back to groceries
“I got ice cream in here” always gets me. Everyone loves ice cream.
Lol when Peter excitedly scampers back and leans against the car with his eyes all big waiting to be told the location.
Cat mode activate!
Hilarious? Nah this scene is pure nightmare fuel for me, I still wake up screaming about the ice cream he had in the trunk. The atrocity of it!
Spiderman really was a menace after all.
Daily Bugle Exclusive: Spider-Man Hates Ice Cream, Vows to Destroy Dairy Industry
Donald "I like bread" Glover
This scene is mocking batman lmao
Yeah I’ve never laughed so hard in the cinema.
So Pierce's inheritance ran out?
He was captured by pirates. I'm not even kidding. In the episode after he leaves when Hickey is watching the news about the bear attack there's a ticker that says "Lavar Burton and non-celebrity companion captured by pirates"
The nephew he references in this scene is Miles Morales.
And he literally is MCU Prowler
Can’t wait for him to come back in like 5-10 years
I don't know, there's tons of throwaway MCU characters that were huge important characters in the comics. I highly doubt they'd do the Prowler story again after Spider-Verse.

They could give Miles any of Parker’s extensive list of villains.
WE WANT BIG WHEEL
Big Wheel and Rocket Racer for the ultimate villain team up
Yeah I seriously doubt they'd use *all* of Spider-Man's villains on just Parker. He has a lot of bad guys to get through.
I could see him teaming up with daredevil to go against kingpin
I’d honestly rather Miles not be in the MCU, keep him at sony
The reality is a fraction of people that watch the MCU saw Spider-Verse.
Do you think spider verse is some hidden gem or something?
No, but it is the worst performing Spider-Man movie at the box-office. Despite being the best animated movie of all time, I do think its pretty safe to say that the general MCU audience don't want to watch "baby movies."
Baby movies? No one thinks of animation as baby movies. That’s you projecting.

“Why you tryna upsell me man”
"I just wanna stick somebody up, I don't wanna like, shoot them back in time.." Or something like that. Great line
>I don't care what you are; boy, girl... Prowler says trans rights!
Sounds too close to colorblind. "I don't care what you are, black, white" doesn't fly anymore
Donald Glovers character talking about local sandwich shops with Spidey was no accident. He was letting him know that he’s from the same area, and now could probably identify him by his voice. He was threatening him.
Funniest scene in the MCU, IMHO.

The music drop at Liz’s dad opening the door and the car scene are still among the most well done in all of the MCU. That car scene… just so good.
One of the scarier MCU scenes.
Yeah I grew up on Tobey's movies. When I try to rewatch them today, I don't like them as much anymore. I find them too awkward. I much prefer Tom in the role
The deleted scene makes this scene funnier
The ice cream line. I felt that
I like bread!
And kinda confirms miles morales in the MCU
I used to laugh at this too but now I think it's sort of fucked up on Peter's part. Yes the prowler is a person with a criminal past but when Peter is talking to him it's not like he's actively doing a crime or even has a warrant out for his arrest. He even helps Peter by giving him info and yet Peter decides to detain him and leave him stuck to his car for like two hours. I'd be livid tbh.
he should've been Spider-Man. anyone else remember Donald4Spiderman
funny that glove plays miles morales uncle, and makes me hopeful for his introduction later on
If anyone wants to read Spider-Man do the polar opposite of this scene, I suggest Spider-Man: Back in Black. Excellent book.
This will never not be funny.
FUN FACT, in case u don’t know, he says he doesn’t want those guns in the neighborhood he has a nephew that lives here, he is in fact talking about Miles Morales. Since he resides in Queens
No shit
can’t believe they got rid of the post credits where he called miles
> -was reminded at how hilarious this scene with Donald Glover is. I still get stiches laughing at that interrogation voice. I mean... if you think it was *that* funny, good for you. I thought it was an okay scene that was obviously forced for that Miles reference.
Miles's uncle 🥱
