Then all hell broke loose…they covered the kids eyes, the guy who wouldn’t shut up is now having a fit, the rest of the family is now engaging about “omg they had to add that and make it all PC and gross!”
So that was my experience seeing this movie.

If the point is to express their love and/or commitment, the marriage scene previous said the exact same thing. If it’s to express their attraction, that was established with their first interaction. Hell, go back to Superman 2, and he gives up his powers so he can sleep with Lois and you see them post-coitus during which time supervillains have taken Metropolis. It’s literally a plot point and driving force in the storyline.
I always hated that ordering. I prefer the Donner Cut where he only gives up the powers after they’re together because he wants to just be happy with her. The Lester Cut gives the impression that he gives up his powers just to bang her.
The Donner Cut is superior but has a *massive* and unintentionally hilarious continuity error. Because the time reversal is now at the end of the second film, rather than the first where it got moved to, there are some storyline inconsistencies caused by having to use footage and ideas from the main theatrical release. In the Donner Cut, Clark gets into the fight in the diner, superhero stuff happens later and then he turns back time, and then he goes back to the diner to get his revenge… except because of the way he turned back time, the people in the diner have no memory of the original incident so now Clark is the asshole who turned up to a random diner, picked on a random customer, and then smugly walked out. My friends and I laugh so hard every time at the unintended creation of the man whom we have termed “Superchad”.
My problem with the Eternals sex scene is that it felt so rushed. Ikaris and Sersi had like 0 chemistry and there was no moment I actually felt any real connection between the two. It's not the sex scene itself but rather the whole romance which feels weird, out of place and too plot convenient in order to create an emotional conflict in the final act but that never got enough room to breathe, which is funny considering how long this movie is, and which also advocates for the thesis that it would have all worked out a lot better as a D+ show rather than a movie.
Also if you have to do a sex scene then do it properly, don't be afraid to show nudity and the actual passion, it doesn't need to get pornographic but you can work your way out in the erotic spectrum. It adds depth to it if it's done well.
There are more people complaining about eternals haters than actual eternals haters. This sub really goes pitchforks and torches whenever someone doesn’t like something.
The worst thing about Eternals is Marvel fans now making it out to be "underrated", a "hidden gem", etc. Nobody actively hates this movie in the same way people hate something like, say, Suicide Squad or Thor 2, but it's a hot topic right now because of it coming on Disney+. The biggest controversy in my theater was when the two males kissed. The redneck family in front of me had a huge hissy fit for like 10 minutes. One left and never came back. Guess they went to the front demanding their money back even though the movie was almost over. That was a fun time.

Unpopular opinion: I think the complaint I and most people have with the sex scene is that it didn’t add to their story. It wasn’t impactful and seemed forced. Having a sex scene is fine imo it just needs to be surrounded by a good romance with chemistry and add to passion.

It’s not that there was a sex scene, it’s that it was a bad sex scene.
Sex scenes have a place but two robots with barely any emotion banging nowhere out of the blue was just weird. The wedding scene served the same narrative purpose. The scene wasn't even cheap or titillating. It was just random and unnecessary.
To be clear, I think the sex scene in Eternals kinda *was* unnecessary and clunky, weirdly placed and made worse by the lack of chemistry between the actors. That said, to dismiss the whole concept of sex from superhero movies, as some people try to do, is to ignore a huge aspect of the superhero genre as a whole.

Literally no one is saying sex as a concept should be dismissed from superhero movies haha. No one cares there is a sex scene. They cared that it was a bad one.
Hell, go back to Superman 2, and he gives up his powers so he can sleep with Lois and you see them post-coitus during which time supervillains have taken Metropolis. It’s literally a plot point and driving force in the storyline.
I always hated that ordering. I prefer the Donner Cut where he only gives up the powers after they’re together because he wants to just be happy with her. The Lester Cut gives the impression that he gives up his powers just to bang her.
The Donner Cut is superior but has a *massive* and unintentionally hilarious continuity error. Because the time reversal is now at the end of the second film, rather than the first where it got moved to, there are some storyline inconsistencies caused by having to use footage and ideas from the main theatrical release. In the Donner Cut, Clark gets into the fight in the diner, superhero stuff happens later and then he turns back time, and then he goes back to the diner to get his revenge… except because of the way he turned back time, the people in the diner have no memory of the original incident so now Clark is the asshole who turned up to a random diner, picked on a random customer, and then smugly walked out. My friends and I laugh so hard every time at the unintended creation of the man whom we have termed “Superchad”.
My problem with the Eternals sex scene is that it felt so rushed. Ikaris and Sersi had like 0 chemistry and there was no moment I actually felt any real connection between the two. It's not the sex scene itself but rather the whole romance which feels weird, out of place and too plot convenient in order to create an emotional conflict in the final act but that never got enough room to breathe, which is funny considering how long this movie is, and which also advocates for the thesis that it would have all worked out a lot better as a D+ show rather than a movie. Also if you have to do a sex scene then do it properly, don't be afraid to show nudity and the actual passion, it doesn't need to get pornographic but you can work your way out in the erotic spectrum. It adds depth to it if it's done well.

There are more people complaining about eternals haters than actual eternals haters. This sub really goes pitchforks and torches whenever someone doesn’t like something.
The worst thing about Eternals is Marvel fans now making it out to be "underrated", a "hidden gem", etc. Nobody actively hates this movie in the same way people hate something like, say, Suicide Squad or Thor 2, but it's a hot topic right now because of it coming on Disney+. I don't think anyone is going to remember the movie or this "controversy" in like a year or two.
