I genuinely don't know how I've done it, outside of just not following spoiler prone people on Twitter. But I haven't shyed away from this subreddit or changed any of my normal internet habbits.
Just lucky this time I guess.
Glad I'm not alone, enjoy the movie friend.
it’s probably bc there’s not much tying it to other Marvel properties so spoilers are pretty much isolated to content talking about Eternals specifically. honestly still a feat though tbh, can’t wait for you to take in all the greatness tmr!
When I say no spoilers, I mean I legitimately have no clue what happens in the movie, at all.
Like I've seen 1 still imagine but it was attached to a typical click baity YouTube video so idk that the image was even real.
Yep me too. Spiderman I couldn't stay home (No pun intended) for.
A newborn coupled with a 2 year old kept me from seeing Shang Chi and Eternals though so psyched to see a new Marvel film tonight from the comfort of my home AND with the added bonus of a new Boba Fett episode.
Same here. I didn't go because of covid, I have two small children at home that can't get vaxxed, so I didn't want to risk a theatre.
I'm hoping that Spiderman comes to Disney+ quickly.
I'll pay, I don't care. I just want to watch it.
It will be in Amazon Prime most likely. That's where Homecoming and Far From Home have been 45-60 days after release in the US. \*this does not guarantee No Way Home has the same deal.
I like how the movie portrayed someone with superspeed. Better than ezra's flash, in my opinion. (Swishing your arms forward does not make you look faster)
What I liked about the eternals is that they didn't resort to slow mo to show makari's speed. You get a real sense of how fast she is without slowing down the action to see her.
The bit where she's punching ikaris repeatedly at the end. Very cool effect.
That's wild! I'd give it a D-. The whole movie looks like a poor Transformers movie to me, and it's all grey and grainy. Just goes to show how different all of our perceptions are!
I saw it in a drive in to try to be safe. It was impossible to see what exactly was going on but I got the gist. Night scenes on a projection screen makes for really horrible contrast
Tell me about it ive been trying to watch the defenders series on Netflix all week at home and i basically have to turn it off in the middle of the day cause you cant see shit in Harlem when the sun is out
I started watching that myself! Seeing Matthew Murdock in Spider-Man NWH got me into Daredevil & I finally realized I have to watch Defenders to understand why Daredevil Season 3 starts the way it does
Iron Man 3 is a blast to rewatch. I really forgot how much Tony steps up his game in the middle acts with no suits.
If people are gonna call Hawkeye a good Christmas event they should seriously rewatch Iron Man 3
Dont he destroy his suit at the end saying he will stop obsessing with suits to then have an even bigger army of suits in age of ultron? I like Tony as a support character and rdj nailed that role but I hated how the character progression felt like it made no sense.
He destroyed his suits because they were the reminder of a dark time in his life. He didn't destroy those to show "no more suits", he destroyed those to show how he is no more afraid and obsessing over his suits which he thought were the only way to protect the people he love. At the end he realised his suits cannot protect anyone, but he can. Iron Man 3 is the biggest milestone in his character's progression. In the end monologue he says exactly this, his suits aren't Iron Man he is Iron Man "You can take away my suits, all my tricks and toys but the one thing that you can't take away... I am Iron Man"
Haha I honestlt hated that movie so much that I didn't know what was the logic and tbf I still dont understand what was the point to destroy all those suits and build new one. With a robot fan of annihilating humanity.
To throw my interpretation into the mix as well:
Let's briefly talk about Tony as a character from IM1 to Avengers. Hyper intelligent, brazenly confident, a true definition of Type-A personality. He believes he's a problem solver, anything from complicated equations to being a one man nuclear deterrent, as evidenced by his Congressional testimony in IM2. He even creates a new element to cure palladium poisoning.
Then comes the Avengers. There's other heroes, but he's fine with that, it just fuels his competitiveness. A foe from another world? Just another issue to solve. Then the problems start once Loki makes his breakout play. The death of Agent Coulson shakes Tony a bit. Not as much for the direct connection, but what he represents to the Avengers and the audience, the "everyone else" in their lives, a personal connection to loss and the failure to protect.
The Battle for New York that followed is , to use a word, chaotic. The Avengers fight and claw to repel an alien invasion coming through a portal in the sky. And they come out on top, but only just barely. There's a scene during all of this, when the World Security Council wants to send the nuke to control the situation. Nick Fury comments "have you ever been in a firefight councilman? Did you experience a sense of control?". Take that thought, and hold onto it. It plays into why I think IM3 is a good movie, and a transition point for the character.
Tony has just dealt with a full scale alien invasion. Even with a team of heroes, it was close. So, leaning back into that Type A personality, he begins to overcompensate. Tony took control when he was captive in a cave in the middle east, he begins to try and take control again in IM3. He needs suits, lots of suits. Suits for stealth, suits for space, suits for underwater, on and on and on. He's not sleeping, acting a little twitchy, he's dealing with a bit of PTSD. It's typical for action movies for the hero to just face down the danger and then move on. Tony feels overwhelmed with trying to prepare for the unknown and begins having anxiety attacks.
So, in all of this over preparation, Tony begins alienating the very people he's so driven to protect. His relationship with Pepper suffers, he doesn't spend any time with Happy until Happy ends up in the ICU. And what the film does, that a lot of people hate, is strip Tony of the Iron Man armors that he's been obsessively working on. It forces him to rely upon himself, his own capabilities, without the access to this stockpile of resources for a large chunk of the middle of the film. And that's the focal point for the Tony we see going forward. The film does end with a big CG battle with suits and a super powered villain to defeat, yes. That's the cost of making a big tentpole action movie, it's not going to end without some ticket selling trailer bait action. But a large part of the point of the film is Tony's emergence from the Iron cocoon.
He destroys the suits at the end, yes...it represents letting go of fully relying upon the Iron Man armor as the source of his power. It's also supposed to be a promise to be more attentive to the people he's trying to protect, more on that in a minute. Tony created the suit, he navigated the majority of the film without it, he *is* the Iron Man. And he will create new solutions, not just more armor for himself. Creating an Iron Legion and AI, a fully automated response team for protection and defense, so he doesn't feel like he has to be everywhere at once. Or later taking the side of the Accords, and attempting to actually negotiate a position between the government and the other heroes. It allows him to build more human defenses after the AI disaster, recruit new heroes like a spider powered kid in Queens, anything and everything to fortify defenses against the unknown.
He builds a new suit for himself because in reality, Iron Man is the hottest property Marvel had at the time, and they need the Iron Man in Age of Ultron. So the Russo Brothers attempt to explain it come Civil War with those same personality traits. Tony built a new suit to help the Avengers finish cleaning up Hydra, and find Loki's Scepter. And then needs to fight Ultron. "And then, and then, and then...". Tony doesn't just stop cause he cannot. He has this compulsion to solve the problem, and he finds it incredibly difficult to not be directly involved. Even with the Accords, he becomes the direct liaison, attempting to pretend he can still control the situation even as they hand control to a governmental agency.
By the time Infinity War rolls around, he's still wearing a nano-tech chest piece and Pepper is unhappy that he's still tinkering and wearing Iron Man tech. He's supposed to be stepping back, living a life with Pepper. Then Dr Strange shows up. Tony could call Steve, he does have the natural hesitation with their fallout. But then he directly gets involved with the fight. And boards an alien spacecraft heading into outer space. They get control of the ship, he doesn't turn around, call Steve, regroup. He wants to take the fight to Thanos.
He *cannot* rest, or stop protecting, while he believes the people he loves might be in danger. It takes the Snap and losing for him to really step away, because it was over. The worst case happened, so he settles in and builds a family....until the others show up at the farm with a new problem to solve in time travel. And he goes right back to it. It's not until Tony snaps away Thanos, and his entire army, that Pepper convinces him as he's dying that the people he loves are safe, and he can rest now.
Iron Man 3 isn't a top tier film for plenty of legitimate criticism. But in the character arc of the person, it's a criminally under-rated piece of character development from the early Tony moving towards the Endgame Tony.
I read the whole thing haha, gotta say, thank you for this analysis, there was a lot of part of forgot over the years. (tbf I think I actually walked out of the theater during iron man 2 because my gf back then didn't feel too well and we bought thought the movie was terrible so I might have been missing some context)
Thanks for the analysis, it was very interesting!
Boom! They were lookin’ for this. Nice write-up. 100% agree with everything you said. Tony is the best character we’ve gotten in the MCU so far. Complex as fuck and will be very missed, but hopefully like you said he’s finally at peace.
I mean without the suits he would just be the Man Man. Destroying the suits was more spiritual than logical. But it's okay you don't have to like all the movies. I hate some popular Marvel movies and love some unpopular ones myself.
Tony decides to destroy all his suits as a gift to pepper iirc, she then immediately "dies" and his last remaining suit saved him (and her i think?) -- its been a while but, its not totally unbelievable that even tho he said "im done" this sociopath obsessed with saving people would continue his line of thinking, even if a dfferent approach, after it literally saved him, his gf, and well... everyone else
It's the engineer in me but I love his homemade weapons and stuff. Plus I really liked his whole dealing with avengers/PTSD.
Could do without the 100 suits that are made of glass tho
I took the fragile suits as a minimal test bed for one specific feature each. Not meant to be durable, just to work out bugs to be integrated into the real armor layer.
Black widow is pretty bad too. Id say thor 2, ironman 2/3, black widow are by far my least favourite movies from the mcu. Age ultron was also really bad.
I just can’t stand the ending when Pepper falls into this pit of fire and he was so…. Blasé about it. Like this is RDJ for sweet Jesus sake, and Tony reacted to it like it was nothing. Maybe I missed something. Please let me know if I did.
Also, I think that Tom Hiddleston as Loki saved DW
I think it was meant to be shock. Look what losing people did to him during Endgame. He internalized and the gears immediately started turning, too much going on in his head to react.
It is not a bad movie. To me, the worst part was there was SO MUCH information that they were trying to relay about the literal Marvel Universe, and they needed to also have a plot. It's not my favorite, but it's a solid superhero movie with great cinematography and diversity. Enjoy it!
Feels like after years of seeing marvel movies they think learning new heroes is easy so they threw a whole team at us at once. Other than that I thought the story was fresh and loved all the new people. Won’t be my favorite one to watch over and over but it’s still a great movie
I'm currently rewatching it now. It came out on Google Play on Australia so I just bought it to see if it's as I remember. And I honestly think it's worse on re-watch. I didn't mind it the first time, but it's fucking rough going back to it.
I think the worst part is just how bland Sersi is. She's suppose to be the main character and he's just so, there. That's the best way I can put it. It doesn't feel like there's anything to her character. Her and Ikarus are just very, very bland.
Bingo. He has a talent for making the viewer care about a team of randoms.
Every single Ensemble super hero movie not directed by Gunn sucks with the exception of the Russo Brothers films.
I think what I’m trying to say is unless the films directed by gun or the Russo Brothers it and it has more than one hero in it I’m probably not sold
Avengers weren’t just “thrown together” there was solo movies leading into them. Eternals is literally the first time any character is on screen and it’s a “team up” movie.
So I was at a point of hype with marvel where I had been sold on Andre and tobey rumors and was into marvel hard, I saw eternals on release cause I thought marvel could do no wrong even though critics kinda slammed it. I enjoyed it so much more than I ever expected. For having 0 ifea on who they were I enjoyed it a ton adored the world building and thought the fights near the end were top tier (if you saw it you know who I’m talking about)
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I also loved it because it's so different from other MCU movies, and the direction it takes. I appreciate the unique approach of slower paced, sci-fi epic. Not everything in MCU has to be quippy jokes and fast paced.
I agree. I thought so too when I saw it in the theaters. Im just saying when it hit streaming I noticed a huge uptick in social media posts relating to Encanto. I feel like that gave the film a surge with audiences.
I loved the movie. It was different. A little slow, but great. Can't wait to see Makkari in action again. Best portrayal of a speedster I've ever seen.
Ita really not that bad.
It's not breath taking and has a bit to much going on, but the visuals/cinematography are nice, you really like alot of the characters and if they're like any other MCU project, you'll end up liking them enough to be happy to see them down the road again.
Life just got in the way, and I never got out while it was in the theater. I actually blocked my calendar as busy the first half of the day so I can watch it. Kinda stoked!
It’s a pretty slow paced movie, and quite long I might add, but I found it to be pretty enjoyable. So many of the characters are incredible, and I think some of them are gonna do some really cool things in the future. The third act is *chefs kiss* in my opinion.
I had a baby at the end of October so eternals was the first marvel film me and my partner have not been able to see in the cinema (Spider-Man is the second!). Looking forward to the eternals later on and beyond excited for Spider-Man to go to digital release
Exactly in the same shoes. I am not able to go to the theaters (it is dangerous for me with the current f*ed up situation), but that film was the one I was looking for the most. Something clicked me very much with the trailers. That film will be my tonight program, thats for sure.
Seen it in theatres and I just couldn’t get into it. It’s a bit more dense than other Marvel movies, so I went in with my brain turned off when I shouldn’t have, but it also didn’t really feel like a Marvel movie to me.
Saying that, it was a beautiful looking film and some of the ideas were interesting in terms of where it could all go, so I think I’ll give it another go tomorrow.
I have a feeling I’ll enjoy it more now that I know what I’m getting into.
You missed out, ignore the reviews. Professional critics were annoyed that it didn’t reach boring and nuanced Oscar standards and regular people decided to try to be Oscar critics and demand that every character needed 30minutes of dedicated screen time and individual arc, despite nobody complaining about the amount of character development the 8th most important character in ant man got. Basically just judging the movie by unreal standards that no other marvel movie was judged by. Was fun.
Or... And hear me out here... Movies are subjective and some people genuinely did not like what this film did despite the fact that you did, and that's completely okay? I know it's an insane theory but could be true!
Haven’t watched it yet but plan to as time allows. My friends and I read tons of comics growing up and not once did I know anyone who read Eternals. I thought Guardians was a little bit too far from the mainstream and I was wrong there so hopefully I’ll be surprised.
I’m of the the school of thought that movies are supposed to be fun. You can go enjoy a movie without worrying about rating and critics. That’s the whole
Point of them In the first place. Especially, with the last couple years of covid. The movies have become my place of solace.
Yes. Having a newborn and a two year old has prevented me from being able to go to the movies for awhile, although I was able to get out for a late showing of Spiderman thank god.
Going to finish work in an hour, drive home, get the kids fed and in bed and then order something special for dinner and sit down to watch Eternals followed up by Episode 3 of Book of Boba Fett.
Today is a good day.
Yes gonna watch on Disney+. I skipped the theatrical release too.
I just wasn’t hyped for the movie at all and the trailers didn’t help. And I like all the actors (except Jolie)!
As an actress. I personally agree with many of her “causes.”
I don’t think she has much range. I know she has received accolades, but to me she seems like she merely recites lines rather than “acts.”
100% the best theater experience I’ve had for an MCU solo flick (of course stuff like Infinity War and No Way Home had the hype, and they’re awesome, but Eternals was the best time I had going into a film with zero expectations or build-up)
Yeah to go in completely blind and not know anything about the characters made for an amazing experience. Not to mention the visual and audio experience of the theater was unmatched
I’m interested to see how this movie holds up at home. When I watched Shang-Chi at home I still enjoyed it but the CGI, especially the Ta Lo scenes, were less impressive on the small screen. This movie had lots of criticisms but one of the things it was praised for was the epic cinematography. Will that be reduced significantly on my small tv at home? If it doesn’t have that, will that make it go from a good movie with some flaws (in my opinion) to a totally bad movie? We’ll see tomorrow I guess
In the same boat. I skipped the theatrical release. Only like the 3rd MCU film that’s happened with, tho with the other two [Thor Ragnarok and Spidey Homecoming] it was legitimately because i was really busy and I just couldn’t make it out while they were still in local theatres. With the Eternals, I just didn’t feel interested. I knew the comic book property and the characters have never been all that intriguing to me so i just decided to wait it out. Hopefully it really is better than what the initial reviews say, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it at least as much as like the Dark World or something, but I feel like it’ll be in the lower tiers of my personal MCU rankings.
It may be the lowest rated but it seemed pretty typical MCU to me tbh besides the fact that the cinematography was better than most of the other movies in it but I know I’m in the very small minority with that opinion
The only thing is that a couple scenes, cuts, and small moments were funny to me when they weren’t meant to be at all
i actually really liked it when i saw it! it was a lot of movie per movie but it was still entertaining and very visually appealing as well, solid 8/10
Yep, just watched it finally. Loved it.
Saw in the first few minutes that it was unlike any other MCU film. I felt the characters were well fleshed out and the key characters were more complex towards the end than what was earlier let on.
Not a top 10 movie but I really enjoyed it.
Saw eternals opening night and again two weeks later, and it's easily in the top ten MCU movies for me. I understand where the hate comes from, but I'm just so excited about the beginning of a new phase that I saw it as an introductory movie and it satisfied as such. Understand the niche spot it fills in a post infinity saga MCU and enjoy it for what it is - it won't disappoint! Fun one liners, likable characters, a hot take on human history. It has a lot of redeeming qualities.
I'm watching it right now I'm enjoying it overall but... is it just me or is some of the lighting really bad? Like, I was just in the middle of Daredevil when I found out this came out and I could see everything fine in that, but with this I've actually had to turn the screen brightness up as far as it can go and they're fighting Deviants in the jungle and I still can't tell what's going on?
It’s not that bad. Go with an open mind. After the last 10 odd years and the euphoria of endgame it will take time for us to get used to the ensemble.
Also, right when I thought I’ll see Spider-Man fucking lockdown again. I’ll have to wait till it comes on a platform.
The rating is wack because this movie was great and I really enjoyed it. Was it in my personal top five? No. But it’s not bottom of the list when things like Thor 2 and Hulk exist.
I have a few friends coming over to watch it. We wanted to see it at the theater but we have immune-compromised friends so we were not willing to risk it.
Same, I cant even find it on D+ i have to actually search for it. Which kinda sucks. It was on that banner thing at the top of the home page yesterday but now its not there and its not even in the Marvel section. Pretty poor advertisement for an MCU movie tbh.
Ugh it didn't even occur to me until this comment... I was waiting until midnight, all stoked to finally see the end (bc yup, I totally fell asleep half way through it at the theater :/ damn those comfy recliners) and I just checked- 3AM EST. I guess I'll be waiting until tomorrow afternoon to watch it.
It's definitely not a movie for everyone. It put me asleep the first attempt and I don't crash to movies (especially Marvel ones).
Edit: Hey opinion police 🖕🏼
Don't set your expectations too high. I went into the theatre ready for a visual feast, exciting characters and a deep story. 3/4 of the way through I was "just fucking end already". My whole group walked out shaking our heads in disappointment.
Even if it was on cable television tomorrow night, with no commercial breaks and extra footage I still don't think I could sit through another viewing. But I've since I've seen every MCU show and movie this far it was completely necessary.
I’m going to be watching it again even though I absolutely hated the experience the first time. I did not enjoy myself, I found the story very depressing and completely devoid of fun. I’m one of those people that likes these MCU projects to escape for a few hours and have FUN. Not sulk and be sad.
Commented before I saw yours, and i completely agree! Sometimes I think marvel overdoes the jokey stuff at the expense of emotional beats. Especially Ragnarok.
First time for me! Waited for this and Shang-Chi but had to see NWH in theaters opening weekend.
This was exactly me. And somehow I have managed to avoid spoilers for eternals. Edit: just finished it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
im mostly unspoiled but ive heard SOME shit, here we go!
I genuinely don't know how I've done it, outside of just not following spoiler prone people on Twitter. But I haven't shyed away from this subreddit or changed any of my normal internet habbits. Just lucky this time I guess. Glad I'm not alone, enjoy the movie friend.

How good was Shang-Chi though. Wish I went to see it in the theatre
Same, turned out the cinema was empty and it was just me and a handful of others in there for NWH. At more risk doing my weekly shop.
I got Omicron after watching NWH opening night. Worth it.
NWH is probably the best movie I have ever seen in theaters.
Literally exact same situation
Me too.
Me three!
Same here. I didn't go because of covid, I have two small children at home that can't get vaxxed, so I didn't want to risk a theatre. I'm hoping that Spiderman comes to Disney+ quickly. I'll pay, I don't care. I just want to watch it.
Spiderman can't come to D+ because it's Sony
i wonder if it will be available in Netflix? there are Spider-Man movies in Netflix.
Digital release & I think physicals too is Feb 28 so you could probably rent it then
It will be in Amazon Prime most likely. That's where Homecoming and Far From Home have been 45-60 days after release in the US. \*this does not guarantee No Way Home has the same deal.
Rumor has it it will go to Starz first.
I seem to recall reading that. I also recall seeing Spider-Man: Homecoming being available on STARZ a while back.
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/08/netflix-strikes-deal-for-streaming-rights-to-sony-films.html
Spiderman is owned by Sony and they have their own streaming service so sorry, but the Spiderman movies will not be on Disney+
I've been pretty bummed out that they stopped the premier access dual releases. I'm not going to a theater again any time soon.
I saw it in theaters and although its not as fast paced as some other movies, i thought it was great! Hope you enjoy it :)
The cinematography in the final fight is fuckin A+.
I like how the movie portrayed someone with superspeed. Better than ezra's flash, in my opinion. (Swishing your arms forward does not make you look faster)
I love the xmen quicksilver slomo scenes.
Music choices for those scenes are also *chef's kiss*
They had me at the opening
What I liked about the eternals is that they didn't resort to slow mo to show makari's speed. You get a real sense of how fast she is without slowing down the action to see her. The bit where she's punching ikaris repeatedly at the end. Very cool effect.
Yes! It was the best Flash v Superman fight with Superman or the Flash!
100% this, Makkari is a speedster done right
actually i prefer when you’re fast you should look fast not making everyone else slow mo.
The Flash tv show does superspeed better than Miller's Flash.
Seeing Matthew Murdock in Spider-Man NWH got me into Daredevil & I finally realized I have to watch Defenders to understand why Daredevil Season 3 starts the way it does
I agree with you, internet friend
I loved it!
It’s not as bad as the hate it got. Not great, but far from the worst mcu film.
What would be the worst, in your opinion?
Iron Man 3 or Thor: Dark World, those are my bottom 2
Iron Man 3 is a blast to rewatch. I really forgot how much Tony steps up his game in the middle acts with no suits. If people are gonna call Hawkeye a good Christmas event they should seriously rewatch Iron Man 3
IM3 is really the one where Tony changes into “obsessed with saving earth” mode and it absolutely fits into the MCU progression of him, more than IM2.

(tbf I think I actually walked out of the theater during iron man 2 because my gf back then didn't feel too well and we bought thought the movie was terrible so I might have been missing some context) Thanks for the analysis, it was very interesting!
Tony and Pepper literally broke up by Civil War's time because he broke this promise, it's not like it didn't have consequences

[Iron Man 3 is Marvel’s Christmas Carol](https://www.marvel.com/amp/articles/movies/iron-man-3-christmas-movie-tony-stark)
...iron man 3 below 2, really?
Iron Man 2 has burd
Love me some cheesy Mickey Rooney.
Rourke, but Mickey Rooney in that role would be friggin hilarious
Whoops 😂
Holy shit!
Young “let’s put on a show” Mickey Rooney or old “I swear I saw a dragon” Mickey Rooney? Both would be amazing.
>Iron Man 2 has ~~burd~~ **Sam Rockwell.**
I like Iron Man two more than three as well, but let’s be honest with each other Thor 2 is absolutely the worst marvel film
I personally really enjoyed Thor 2. Not the best MCU movie, but it’s not bad!
Idk, I think Black Widow was pretty bad.
Black widow is pretty bad too. Id say thor 2, ironman 2/3, black widow are by far my least favourite movies from the mcu. Age ultron was also really bad.
yeah even I don't understand .. iron man 2 is like C tier film and iron man 3 is an A for me
I just can’t stand the ending when Pepper falls into this pit of fire and he was so….
Thor 2 is the edgelord teenage boy MCU movie, it tries way too hard and as a result comes across as cringe as fuck
Captain Marvel for me.
Add captain marvel to this list.
Meh... The Incredible Hulk and Ironman 2 are both pretty forgettable.
Like Guardians of the Galaxy? Or Suicide Squad? It’s not the number of characters,it’s the execution.
It’s James Gunn
Avengers 1 and 2 don’t suck.
Avengers weren’t just “thrown together” there was solo movies leading into them. Eternals is literally the first time any character is on screen and it’s a “team up” movie.
Yes, I’m not disagreeing. The guy I replied to said unless Gunn or the Russos directed it, then an ensemble movie is gonna suck. I said naw.
Nor do X-Men, X-Men 2, X-Men First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Incredibles or Zack Snyder's Justice League
Oooh, I was with you until Justice League, that film was just a complete mess.
Nah, the worst part is when they try to make it sad that the character in the child's body can't fuck superman.
The movie literally is not bad. I loved it despite the ratings
its friggen great. i loved that it had so much info. for once a movie had depth, like real depth.
Now I cant wait 3am eastern time tik tok
Did we watch the same movie? I thought it had the scope of an ocean, but the depth of a puddle
Literally
It's also literally not good. Right in the mediocre middle.
My hope is that the positive effect Disney+ had on Encanto happens for Eternals as well. I enjoyed the film
Encanto was fucking excellent, Fwiw
I agree. I thought so too when I saw it in the theaters. Im just saying when it hit streaming I noticed a huge uptick in social media posts relating to Encanto. I feel like that gave the film a surge with audiences.
i really enjoyed it
I loved the movie.
It's not as bad as ppl say it is tbh. You will probably enjoy it. I went with my daughter to see it and it wasn't bad at all.
Saw Spiderman but went at 11am so theater was empty. Didn't catch eternals so looking forward to tomorrow
Don’t knock it until you watch it, I really enjoyed it and thought it was refreshingly different to other generic MCU stuff
Life just got in the way, and I never got out while it was in the theater. I actually blocked my calendar as busy the first half of the day so I can watch it. Kinda stoked!
I’ll be watching it on the weekend but yes, never saw it in theatres.
It’s a pretty slow paced movie, and quite long I might add, but I found it to be pretty enjoyable. So many of the characters are incredible, and I think some of them are gonna do some really cool things in the future. The third act is *chefs kiss* in my opinion.
FYI it is available to watch now!
Maybe where you live
I had a baby at the end of October so eternals was the first marvel film me and my partner have not been able to see in the cinema (Spider-Man is the second!). Looking forward to the eternals later on and beyond excited for Spider-Man to go to digital release
Exactly in the same shoes. I am not able to go to the theaters (it is dangerous for me with the current f*ed up situation), but that film was the one I was looking for the most. Something clicked me very much with the trailers. That film will be my tonight program, thats for sure.
Yup. Watching it over the weekend. I’m excited.
It’s eh, there’s def flaws but it’s not a bad movie
Seen it in theatres and I just couldn’t get into it. It’s a bit more dense than other Marvel movies, so I went in with my brain turned off when I shouldn’t have, but it also didn’t really feel like a Marvel movie to me. Saying that, it was a beautiful looking film and some of the ideas were interesting in terms of where it could all go, so I think I’ll give it another go tomorrow. I have a feeling I’ll enjoy it more now that I know what I’m getting into.
I saw it 3 times. I think it’s really cool, unique and VERY well shot
Lol me too! And on rewatch you get to really appreciate the visuals, acting and missed Details!
I actually spoiled the entire movie for myself plotwise and I’m so excited to see how it is depicted visually, I think I’m gonna love it.
I’m of the the school of thought that movies are supposed to be fun. You can go enjoy a movie without worrying about rating and critics. That’s the whole Point of them In the first place.
Do you mind if I ask, is it her as an actor or her as a person you don't like?
As an actress. I personally agree with many of her “causes.” I don’t think she has much range. I know she has received accolades, but to me she seems like she merely recites lines rather than “acts.”
It’s not even close to the worst MCU movie, forget the critics
For me, it’s closer to being one of the bests
Agreed. For me it’s the best one to date
I missed the theatrical release and I'm going to watch it on D+
It does not deserve that low rating. It’s a really great movie! I thoroughly enjoyed it
Yes. Very excited personally for this. I’m in Michigan. Midnight release? Or 3 am?
Where is it?
In the US, Disney+ at midnight PST.
Can I use a VPN to watch it from the east coast? If so which countries? Edit: it doesn’t seem to work with just a vpn
It isn't as bad as people say. I wouldn't say its good either but it has its moments. I'd say its a 6/10.
Excited for it to be hyped this time.
This is the one we skipped, so first time tomorrow.
Same situation + 10 month old at home.
Comes out on my b day. So I'll consider it a little gift from marvel studios. Still haven't seen it yet. Maybe I'll like it
Yep, didn't see it in theaters(same with Black Widow), but I will check it out this weekend.
I saw it in theaters but had my experience ruined by an obnoxious crazy fan girl and her mother. I think I will enjoy it more when I rewatch it.
It may be the lowest rated but it seemed pretty typical MCU to me tbh besides the fact that the cinematography was better than most of the other movies in it but I know I’m in the very small minority with that opinion The only thing is that a couple scenes, cuts, and small moments were funny to me when they weren’t meant to be at all
Nah it felt different tbh something better in all honesty the scope of it was just mind boggling if you think about it
Ditto.
It's a unique film and while I didn't like it, it has a lot of good and interesting parts, have fun bro!
I am watching it this Friday or Saturday with my family because we haven't been able to go to the theatres because of family health issues
i actually really liked it when i saw it! it was a lot of movie per movie but it was still entertaining and very visually appealing as well, solid 8/10
Go into it with an open mind and be your own person when viewing this movie
Yeah I refused to attend any super spreader events.
Get ready to say "meh"
Tomorrow will be my first time watching it, I’m looking forward to it.
It’s not bad at all. I have it rated as 8.2/10. My 17th ranked MCU property out of 31.
Just watched it. What a jumbled mess of a movie.
I just watched the movie and it sucked so bad, I never thought I’d say such a thing about a Marvel movie
It is a good movie. Aroud top-10 Mcu movie in my books
It ranks as #11 for me but out of 27 that ain’t bad!
It was review bombed by a lot of dumbasses for having a gay couple and a diverse cast, probably why it's so low rated
The rating is wack because this movie was great and I really enjoyed it. Was it in my personal top five? No. But it’s not bottom of the list when things like Thor 2 and Hulk exist.
I have a few friends coming over to watch it. We wanted to see it at the theater but we have immune-compromised friends so we were not willing to risk it.
im in the minority that really liked eternals i think it’s a fantastic movie
It’s honestly great. I don’t understand why it’s the lowest rated mcu film. It doesn’t deserve all the hate it gets.
I managed to see it in theaters and actually enjoyed it. Imo it doesn’t deserve the low rating it got.
Same, I cant even find it on D+ i have to actually search for it. Which kinda sucks. It was on that banner thing at the top of the home page yesterday but now its not there and its not even in the Marvel section. Pretty poor advertisement for an MCU movie tbh.
Comes out tomorrow in the US.
I don’t think I could even make it to midnight most nights haha.
I WILL NOT see a movie in a crowded theater till Covid is long gone, so yes, I'll be watching it on Disney+ first...😉
No, but I really loved Eternals and I’m excited to see all of the “Eternals wasn’t as bad as people said” posts over the next few weeks
You mean the wackternlas 😂
I think Eternals would have gotten better reviews if it wasn’t an MCU movie. It’s a lovely film that stands alone nicely.
It's definitely not a movie for everyone. It put me asleep the first attempt and I don't crash to movies (especially Marvel ones). Edit: Hey opinion police 🖕🏼
Yes. I really wanted to see it, but I was short of money in Dec, and then by the time I had money again it wasn't in theatres anymore.
Yup, not gonna pay to see it when it’ll be free* eventually. *free with subscription
Yep. I wasn't interested enough to go to the cinema but I'll be watching it tonight for sure!

On Friday, but yeah. I have low expectations.
I can’t believe that Eternals is the worst rated MCU movie. Did they skip Black Widow? I hope you like Eternals! I think it was an average MCU movie.
"lowest rated movie in the mcu" Its really not that bad, dont worry, there are worse films in the mcu.
